Loved Nirvana, was a HUGE Smashing Pumpkins fan. Frente was an awesome band. And for my dork side, The Party (they were a band of five Mickey Mouse Club teens).0

Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros
sorry but JA is also from the 80's. PfP came in the 90's after JA split for a while.
Yes, but they didn't actually become widely known until 1990, and split up in 91.
but 'widely known' does not a 90's band make some of us were already listening to them in the 80's...0 -
Ace of Base and Cathy Dennis!!!

I'll add Green Day, Blink 182, No Doubt and Garbage here too0 -

Loved a lot of the bands mentioned already (90's music was great), but here are a few more that weren't mentioned:
Korn, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Third Eye Blind, REM (I know they started in the 80's, but they had some hits in the 90's), U2 (same deal as REM), Metallica (had some hits in the 90's, started in the 80's). So many great ones were already covered. Love grunge and alternative music as well as hard rock/metal and my starting point for listening to this music was the 90's.0 -
Filter was great, tribute to Kurt Cobain. "hey man nice shot"0

What, nobody's said Radiohead? I know they're considered an 00s band, with Kid A and so on, but OK Computer is an amazing 90s album.
OP said Radiohead Radiohead is definitely my choice too0 -

That wasn't a tribute to Kurt Cobain. It was about Budd Dywer, a PA treasurer who comitted suicide pubicly.0 -

Metallica to me are 80's. I actually saw them open for Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark at the Moon" tour before Cliff Burton was killed.
That's just showing my age of course but I wouldn't classify them as a 90's band myself.
Limp Bizkit on the other hand, yes0 -
Nirvana=soo overrated0

I can keep being annoying here REM and U2 NO WAY are these 90's bands. You can not classify them as such.0 -
No one mentioned Live! I loved the album Throwing Copper.0
