So my mom was kind enough to buy me a banana muffin this morning, which I didn't think was unhealthy (so much).
Turns out... it had... 430 CALORIES
    What do I do?!
I only eat 1300 calories a day and now i've already passed that amount!!

LMAO, its the end of the world aye?

This breakfast is not going to hurt your diet, and you may want to consider raising your calories to 1400 anyway. I did and eat back most of my exercise calories and started losing more weight.

Get in a 430 calorie burn today. Muffin calories are now nixed. Problem solved :)

It's not the end of the world. Honest! The whole point here is to incorporate the foods you want into your daily routine. Heck I had a burger and shake the other day and didnt go over because I worked out and ate low calorie the rest of the day. That's okay to do.

    I agree with everyone else.

Focus on your weekly calorie goal. That helps me when I panic about something I've eaten.

    Good luck!

can you count it as your "cheat" snack/meal? ...keep your head up and put an extra pep in your step/workout tomorrow/evening!
  • Wonderful advice.
  • HA... great!! If you died tomorrow at least you died with a tasty muffin!! :) Sorry but I thought that was hilarious.
  • try to develop a healthy relationship with that muffin...hi muffin how are you....oh you are high calorie and have a ton of fat in you, BUT i can have you once in a while, as long as i dont make a scene about it and become some sort of wide eyed crazy coffee cake banana nut infused muffin fiend...

Its all about moderation, dont eat the damn muffin if your penance has to be 500 miles on your bike, jeez....gotta chill eat healthy and have what you want its all about the moderation....

HAHAHA I almost peed that was funny!

my father in law passed last week, I took an entire two weeks off. gained 1.5 lbs, the idea is not to let that happen every day. Now you know about muffins....learn and move on. Try and add a little more Cardio to your day.

it's ok... you have about 1000 calories left. it's ok if you go over a little. a spike day can be good and help boost your metabolism. just get an extra workout in.

one thing i've learned, if you think about it being the end of the world, then in your mind you set yourself up to do it again... realize it's not the end of the world, and move on. it's not really that bad... i know i'd be worried about it too but you can do extra workouts and move on from this

If muffins are the end of the world...then I just wiped out our entire solar system with the 12 Stevia Oatmeal Apple Muffins I just baked.

    Sorry about that guys.

On the bright side...we don't need to diet anymore.

    You big silly.

By "big", I mean your silliness -- not your size. I don't know if you're big, so no offense.

The end of the world is when your iPod battery is drained and you have a long run.

This is just a muffin. Muffins are the cradle of civilization, not the end of the world. Celebrate this muffin.

Dead Ipods can totally ruin a workout

move on....exercise if you feel like it, but if you don't, don't sweat it. the best part about this is that tomorrow is a brand new day to do it right!

Everyone has negative thoughts like this sometimes. They're called cognitive distortions:

    http://psychcentral.com/lib/2009/15-common-cognitive-distortions/

#2 and #5 are particularly applicable here. They're distortions because they're based on partial truths and exaggeration. Here are some guidelines for responding to cognitive distortions when they crop up:

    http://psychcentral.com/lib/2009/fixing-cognitive-distortions/

The problem I've had myself with this sort of thinking in the past is the thought is usually followed by self-soothing with food and a "what the hell, I might as well do whatever" sort of attitude. It's one of the quickest ways to sabotage your improvement efforts.

EDIT: By the way, I had a couple of scoops of high-fat ice cream last Saturday ... I ate it slowly and thoroughly enjoyed it ... zero effect on the scale. Having a muffin or a dish of ice cream once in a while won't kill your diet ... agonizing over it might.

It is no biggie. You indulged! We all do it from time to time. Don't beat yourself up. :)

Focus really hard for the rest of the week and you'll get back on track.

Don't beat yourself up over it, we all do it. Log it and carry on. Tomorrow is another day, a muffin won't destroy anything.

I burn 450 or so calories everytime I do a turbo fire workout so just get a workout in or go for a brisk walk and no worries. You cant beat yourself up for not being so strict its real life and its real decisions so just adjust the rest of your day and start over tomorrow because there is no quiting. Keep your head up.
