well that depends on how much of it you do wlaking, and how much of it you do joggining and how fast your going. I keep track of the min. I jogg and then the min. I walk and use the data vbase to figure it out each time. I usually do about 40 min. jogging at 6.0 and 20 min. walking at 3.5 and usually I burn around 600 cal.

Hello all! I'm a newbie to the thread, as well as to the whole wogging thing.

I've never been a runner, but I've always wanted to try it. I just never had much success with it and just assumed I wasn't really built for it. But I started working out 3-4 days a week back in February. I still avioded the treadmill like the plague though and opted for the elliptical for all of my cardio. Well, on Monday my former trainer gave me a new weekly workout to follow. Monday had a 1 mile warm-up on the elliptical or the treadmill. I decided to give the treadmill a shot, and surprised myself by jogging for a minute here and there throughout the workout. It took me 16 minutes to do the mile that way, but I'm ok with that.

So when I got to my Wednesday workout, I was supposed to do 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. The thought of that was too mind-numbingly boring, so I split it up and started on the treadmill for 20 mintues. Plus I was excited to see if I could do more jogging and prove that it wasn't a fluke that I could do it. This time I managed to run for 5 out of the 20 mintues!

Now I'm thinking I might keep going with this walk/jog thing and try to build up my endurance over the next few months. I looked into the couch to 5K program and may use that as a guideline going forward. I like the structure of it and think I might be able to stick with it this time now that I've proven to myself that I can actually do some jogging.

Anyway...there's my longwinded introduction. I'll see you around the boards!

    Thanks kimss!

I'm headed to the gym tonight after work. I'm going to do the first day of C25K that is is 60 sec. jog/90 sec walk for 20 minutes. That's more jogging than I've done so far so it will be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to it!

I managed to make it through W1D1 of C25K!!! I did a 5 minute warm up, alternated 60 seconds of jogging w/ 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes, then did a 5 minute cool down.

It felt SO good to make it through that successfully! I never thought I'd be the kind of person that would look forward to a workout, but I'm actually looking forward to the next day of the program!

me too, I'll give it a try. 30 min. more, I'm already behind for the week.
But will you let use my time walking around the aquarium tomorrow? Oh No!!!!(:noway: )
I wouldn't do that to you girls.
I only count the true exercise, the intentional exercise, " the treadmil " for my times. everything else is just extra for my own benefit.. and with what I might eat tomorrow, I will be needing all the exercise I can get.
I have only wogged for 15min. so far today, I really need to get out there for a few more tonight.

    I went shopping this evening........
I bought a new pair of Jeans, levi's 515 bootcut size 6  1 size smaller:happy: , some new capri's, they would have been the same size but they didn't have any so I had to go with the 8, 2 tank tops that i loved and already had, 1 size smaller, and a new shirt. I'm pretty happy, but as the worst critic of myself, I noticed that I still have the same lumps and bumps:noway: ,in all the same places, they just fit in a size smaller.:grumble:
    I'll keep going though....

wowy! size 6, yesss! I haven't been in a size 6 since...well.....um.....prob middle school LOL!!!! That's fantastic tho! Good for you!

I really want to go shopping, but I don't have extra money this month. :ohwell: boo no fun, huh? haha maybe next month! and that way I'll be able to buy different sizes?? hopefully!!!

I hear ya, I'm hard on myself sometimes too. All my lumps and bumps, yuck. Just keep on exercising and you'll get to where you want to be. I know you can do it

    hey kid,
we weigh almost the same,we have to be about the same size. you must be judging your size by the Jr. standard? for that I am an 11. the 6 is in misses.
:grumble: I just wish they would get a universal size code and not make 10 different catagories and , then sizes inside the catagories and then they just adjust the sizes every year anyway to fit the mindset of the people for that yr. this yrear , of course, is skinny!!!!! I wore these same pants in the 80's, when I was skinny, and they still made me look like I had a big butt. "and I really don't have a butt at all.

I'm hope you get to go shopping soon. It was fun...but I was hoping for more drastic differences. next time.

Really? how much do you weigh? (if you don't mind me asking) I weigh 156lbs. I'm in 12's....and I haven't bought anything for awhile...so I'm not sure what department mine is from LOL but I don't think it's juniors...aren't juniors odd number sizes like 13/15/etc?

I have a whole range of jeans in my closet tho (from 10's-18's) geeeesh lol haven't thrown them out yet lol.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to check in. Today I did the first day of C25K and was totally blown away that it was actually... easy!

As I mentioned in my first post, I haven't tried any running since learning about a year ago that I'm allergic to gluten and I think that has really made a huge difference for me. I had totally forgotten until today that one of the biggest reasons I quit the program a few years ago was that running really aggravated my asthma. I had to take Chinese herbs before every workout, and then sometimes had to use an inhaler on top of that. I was trying to figure out what seemed so much easier today when I realized that I was breathing completely normally!

I plan on continuing with week one next week. I really wasn't planning to start until Monday, so I think today will just be a trial run / bonus day. I was also originally planning to stay at week one for a few weeks, but I think I'll probably be able to progress to week two on time. I do want to take things as slow as I need to though so I don't get burned out or discouraged.

Thanks for being here to give me some accountability! I look forward to wogging with you next week!

The goal for the Couch to 5K is to have you run for long periods of time while breathing normally. I have some friends who have asthma. It must be really hard for you to Wog. But reading your posts has made me realize that there are a lot of people that try harder than I do to be fit. They have to overcome more obstacles. So that motivates me to be like them (not the asthma part!) The part that never gives up.

    Good luck!!!!!!!!!:flowerforyou:

Hello everyone. Fitgal, thanks for your concern. I really need to make the time to check in with you guys or I'm gonna lose my momentum.

Y'all, I've not been able to wog for a couple of weeks. Family health issues, to say the least, have kept me from doing very much. I tried to fit in a Slim in 6 workout one day last week and wanted to hit it hard because of not having been able to do my other routines. Well, I've paid for it big time! It seems have DOMS! It is much better but I'm still hurting. I've convinced myself that I will be "back in the saddle" by mid week, end of week at the latest. I've managed to keep with my healthy eating habits and have been able to maintain. I've not gained ANY weight, which excites me. I'm really trying hard not to get discouraged.

So, anyway, I've read some posts hear and there. It sounds like most everyone is doing great. I'm really happy for you all.

Also, I've bought some 100% Soy Protein Booster powder. Anyone have any good recipes for shakes/smoothies? I also start work tomorrow so I'd like to have a backup if I'm short on time for a "real" breakfast.

    Thanks y'all. :drinker:

I've been thinking about getting it. I've got only about 20 pounds till I reach goal weight. Like I said, I've started the Slim in 6. I don't know. Maybe I'm trying too hard to lose those last pounds. I really need to get toned. What do you think?

    morning girls,
welcome back ahmee. I like fruit and yogurt in my smoothie, or somtimes I'll mix a bit of powder in a slimfast premade drink, or take it to my coffee shop and they will mix it in my blended mocha if I;m having a treat.

I've heard the 30day shred is hard Kid, WOW, I wish you luck and hope you kick butt.

Well, yesterday was kind of a weird day. we were suppose to go to the aquarium, but the baby came down with a bad cold, so we had to stay home. :grumble: THAT WAS BAD.

So, I decided to get my butt in gear and I did my last 2mile run without stopping for the week, so I fulfilled my goal of 3xthis week. and then finished with a 50min. wog. THAT WAS GOOD

So, then we decide that the kids are mad for missing the aquarium so we decide to have a cheat, fast food dinner. hubby and daughter pick Carls Jr. the worst offender/but the best tasting ever. :grumble: THAT WAS BAD.

So, I only manage to finish half. So:happy: THAT WAS GOOD.

So, later after the kids are in bed ,hubby and I decide to have an adult beverage, something we rarely do, and it was, so fun that we end up having a "ffeeewww" :grumble: THAT WAS BAD/AND GOOD....

So I wake up to a still sick kid, a hangover, knowing I ate to much, but my headache won't let me exercise, aned I still have the second half of my burger to finish today.

the big question?????Will it be a GOOD day or a BAD day???????????? :grumble:

haha oh man kimss! Sounds like you had a rough day...think on the bright side of things, you still got to spend time with your kids (even tho you didn't go), you got to eat something yummy AND you only ate half of it (way to go!) AND you got to have some fun time with your hubby  So in the end, maybe it wasn't a bad day after all:wink:

Hope you have a great day today and I hope your baby feels better!!! :flowerforyou:

Is today a good day or a bad day? Good question for all of us, kimss.

For me it's a good day. I finally moved on to Week 3 of Couch to 5K, then spent a half hour on the elliptical. I can feel my stomach shrinking . . .

    Welcome back ahmee!:flowerforyou:

Remember the goal . . . 30 more exercise minutes than last week! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!

I ended up doing an extra running day today. I just really, really wanted to hop on the treadmill and do my week 1 run again! Plus I knew that the husband and I would be eating a good bit of junk food today, so I'm helping keep the balance a little.
