Well I finished week 4 day 1 of C25K - it was tough - I did it outside - hills make it much more of a challenge but I DID it! Then walked about 2 more miles - so I ended with over 5 miles under my belt yesterday. YAY

I really like this C25k program - I never thought I could do it and look at me go....

Hey Chrissy! Great Job! Maybe you can give me some advice. I've been running for about a year now. I did one 5k last summer. My time was 32 minutes. I didn't run or even workout for about 2 months at the end of the year, and when I started back I almost died trying to run 1/2 mile. So, I've kept at it. I can run 1 1/2 miles now, but I've been doing this program

    http://www.womenshealthmag.com/files/pdfs/running-beginner.pdf

I'm on Week 5, and it seems hard to me. I'm definitely going to finish this program, but if I still can't run 30 minutes or it's really difficult, I plan to do C25K. Finally, my question--Should I start at the beginning or pick up where it's challenging?

well, i would say you are ahead of me by far. If you've been doing the program, keep going where you are - maybe go back to the previous week and repeat it if you need to then continue as you can....who says you have to run at high speeds - be proud that you did it!

I finally dragged out 30 day Shred yesterday and did it for the first time. I'm sooo out of shape. I had to modify some of the exercises - but at least I finished. I also picked up the new Wii Active, but haven't tried that yet. Now, I'm off to find some ibuprofen for my sore muscles so I can do Shred again. I hope everyone is having a good day.

Great job! :flowerforyou: The last time I did shred it almost killed me...my calves were so tight the next few days I was walking around like I had peg legs.

    Treadmill question:
is it better to walk for 45 minutes straight, or walk for 5 minute intervals? It gets the same results doesn't it?

I am so ready for this weekend!!! My husband has Saturday off this weekend which may mean we actually get to spend some family time together without rushing from here to there *gasp* :noway:

Hubby also bought me a hrm with our tax refund and I used it for the first time today. LOVE IT and the extra 100 calories I burned (as opposed to the darn machine). Now need to go drown myself with the water bottle....

If intervals you mean you're jogging in between the walking - it burns more calories since you heart rate is higher....

I mean like my goal is to walk for 45 minutes today. Should I walk for 5 minutes then rest for 5 and keep doing that over and over, or walk for 45 minutes straight?
    Hope that makes sense.

It's better to walk for longer because you burn more calories when you get your heart rate up and keep it up. If 45 minutes is too much at one time - I would break it into 2 sessions of 20-25 minutes each. But do what you are able to do. hth

I have a quick question just to see what y'all think. Over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed that I am not as hungry as I used to be. I have not only stopped eating so much all at once, but I am not eating as much over all. Do y'all think this might be a sign of my metabolism slowing down? Should I make a better attempt to eat all the calories I earn from excercise, or just take it as extra weight loss? I know that if your metabolism slows down, no matter how much you work out, you could retain the weight, but I don't want to force myself to eat just to eat. Let me know what y'all think and I look forward to reading y'all's responses. Thanks.

from what I understand the only time you'd rest between intervals is strength training...

I don't think you should rest in between - unless you need to.

I think if you are falling low often - yeah it could be but it could also be that you are filling up on better foods that last longer and fuel your body....also after a while I would think that since we've cut portions down, that's what we get used to.

I don't know about everyone else, but I think that you should eat until you're full and not over-eat.

I got a couple more weights today, and had a minute so I updated the chart on the first post. You might have to refresh it though. :flowerforyou:

Just finished my workout for the day...30 mins on the elliptical and 30 mins on the stationary bike. It was rough today 'cause I didn't want to do ANYTHING, but I forced myself to go and I feel WAY better. I also know I might slack a little this weekend because we'll be at my mom's house @ the pool and might just have a couple drinks. I'll take by bike, though and ride some of the TX Hill Country. that ought to help a little. I gotta get back to work, but I hope y'all have a great night.

I went to work today and planned out my food for the day. I stuck to the plan and even passed up some Dunkin' Donuts (man, they smelled good!!!). Then, when I went to pick up my daughter, she was FINALLY taking her afternoon nap. She had such a rough day that I wasn't about to wake her up to go home. You let that baby nap when she sleeps or else you pay for it big time later. So, my Dad went and picked up Zaxby's. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and he got me fries for a side. I was over on calories by 200 for the day. I should have logged my food in before I told him to order it for me because I obviously didn't do very good calorie math in my head. But hey, at least I skipped the doughnut, right?! I can't wait to have a regular job so my daughter and I have a routine. This is just helping out a family friend do business book keeping so it's really random. Hope you all have a FABULOUSLY blue weekend! :glasses:

It's my inner thighs that feel so tight and my arms are sore. We have a 2-story house and I'm up and down those stairs way too much - my calves must be used to the abuse.
I didn't get to do the shred dvd again today because my husband thought it was a good idea to come home from work at lunch time and hang out awhile. That was my workout time and I wasn't about to do it in front of him!

ALright everyone I tried the wii active tonight. And I LOVE IT. My theighs are really sore the inline skating is the hardest part. You have to squat and then jump and wow I really felt that. The calorie count is off according to my HRM. The wii active said 96 while my HRM said 370. I have to count up my calories for the day because my belly is rumbling.

Some good news... My BF (err ex-bf? that sounds weird)...anyway...he's had a piece of metal stuck in his eye the last 2 days...right on the edge of the color part. :noway: I've been telling him he needs to see an optometrist (sp?), because it's not going to just fall out, and eyeballs aren't something you can replace just yet. He was refusing to go because he doesn't have insurance, but I told him I'd pay for it!!

So, last night I finally got his mom to gang up on him with me, and we made him an appointment and my mom drove him there this morning. The doc told him he should've made an appointment the minute he noticed it in there, but they managed to get it out. He has to go back in on Tuesday, because it's possible that there is rust he'll need to scrap out. :noway:

I had gotten a ballpark estimate of what he was going to get charged, but the doc ended up only charging him $60. Doesn't sound like a bad deal, to keep your EYE!!! Boys are so stubborn! :grumble:

I'm thinking of eat a candy bar for breakfast because I can't find anything else, but I think I'll wait a few minutes and go brush my teeth, see if that will make the craving go away.

Bryce, I would say eat until you are satisfied and don't stress so much. Our bodies talk to us if we listen. Just make sure you're staying over your minimum cals. I usually lose my appetite in the hotter months because thirst takes over. I fill up on so much water, I have to remind myself to eat something substantial. If this is the case, for you, make sure you're snacking on veggies and/or trail mixes of some sort to keep calories coming in.

I've still been pretty disciplined and doing well on eating, exercising, and water... which worries me cause I never do THIS good HAHAHAHA. This weekend might be rough though. Kids are on a 3 day weekend for the holiday, hubby going out of town for his little brother's college graduation, best friends are busy with their families, so I'll be stuck here with the kids and nothing to do. Going to put up a slip and slide for the kids, and I won't be doing that, but maybe I can run in the sprinklers with them or something, just for bonus exercise hehe. Also, if my sister is around this weekend, will possibly go to her house to swim.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Yes, boys are stubborn!! How nice of you to take charge & get him to the eye doctor! What a sweet, caring girl you are! Even for an ex!! :flowerforyou:
