Absolutely no I never would. I'll never be smokin' hot enough to, not in a million years. Plus I go red in the face if more than 2 people look at me. I'm pretty sure when I did my disseration presentation at Uni, I was purple the entire time. And I had clothes ON.

really people? there are other ways to pay bills. try waitressing at a high end restaurant.

I paid my own way through college and grad school, took loans, worked hard. I did not sell my dignity to do it.

A bit of forward-thinking now will prevent many future regrets.

I don't think stripping is selling 'your dignity'. I think it would be fun to dance and be paid well for it. You're also getting a killer work out. If the strip club was a respectable place it would be fine.

I've also paid my way through two years of college as a waitress/barmaid.

If someone held a gun to my head tomorrow and said,

    "STRIP OR WAIT TABLES!!!!"

i choose strip. no contest. waiting tables is demeaning. practically legal slavery.
I was a dish washer promised to be promoted to busser then waitress. A year later I was still scrubbing pots and hauling buckets of ice up stairs in 108* weather. My friend makes good money waitressing and kitchen expo. She got lucky her friend pulled some strings and trained her at a high end family owned restaurant. I didn't see get so lucky.

I was on 3quid an hour at my waitressing/hotel job and my boss made me work from 9-12pm at weekends and then come in and do the 5am shift the next day. He was also a complete pervert. I quit.

well then certainly it is time to work for another boss who will tell you take off your clothes and grind.

yep. if i'm going to get talked down to, called "miss" and "hey you", be judged on how my butt looks, have to do my hair and make-up every day, have bosses that don't pay me, customers that don't respect me, and my self-esteem crushed every single day

might as well be making tens and twenties

    instead of quarters and pennies

I wont lie.. I actually was one for 5 years, before I had my daughter. Yeah the money was great... but there are a lot of temptations that come with working in a strip club... Mainly the access to drugs. I had always told myself that I wasnt going to be one of the druggy strippers, but that had changed. I was "partying" 7 nights a week, mainly to keep from getting drunk off of the alcohol the guys were buying me. Because it was customary that if the men bought you a drink, you had to drink it, cause in the end, it meant more money in your pocket. Plus the partying would keep me from stuffing my face and I wouldnt gain weight, only lose. I have been clean now for 3 years, and yeah, im struggling with my weight, but its better than having 24/7 access to the stuff.

Would I go back? Nah. The money isnt worth the stalkers and threats, and managers that think you have to appease them to become "more famous" Also, if the girls dont like you, they will make sure you dont make money.

I would do an amatuer night if I were you, and see if it is even something you want to fully pursue. If you dont mind surrounding yourself with druggies, and handsy feelie guys then make it a career. I'm not saying all strippers are like that, nor all the guys... but choose who you talk to, and the girls you befriend wisely.
congratulations on your sobriety. I actually quit for good shortly after I started dancing.

Thank you. :) it was a struggle at first, but the wanting quickly went away. Even now I'm like.. why did I even do it in the beginning. Ya live and you learn. Now if only i can quit smoking just as easily. haha!

But then it would be well paid and on my terms. I, personally, wouldn't feel exploited because I would know what I'm getting myself in for. You see things differently to me which is fine and I understand where you're coming from. I'm very comfortable with my self respect and having control over my body.

wrong restaurant. work high end. I used to make over $150 per shift (even lunch), sometimes over $300 in tips at two 5 star restaurants in NY in the early '90s. Even had a regular couple every Friday evening always left $100 bill. Never once had anyone talk down to me -- it's the clientele that determines the level of respect. If a single entree is over $50, no one will be leaving quarters and pennies. Waffle House is not the place.
  • YES. i think i'd love to try it...need a bit more confidence though :)

Me? Never ever. I have gone to and had a really good time at strip clubs so I think I can offer a generally unbiased opinion.

I had a good friend do it, and she got out of it rather quickly -- it's a very different world and lifestyle -- too easy to get dragged into it, no matter your intentions and willpower. She worked at a relatively tactful and safe place, too. The money was great, but she still struggled to pay bills with the lifestyle that she got into.

Also, my friend said men were extremely rude to the women about their appearance (and she seriously has an amazing body). She is one of the most physically confident people I know, and she had quite a few nights where she would call me in tears because of how she was treated.

I would if I were young enough and were able to wear heels. In my young day I went for drinks and entertainment at strip clubs, but they were safe places, so the one and only draw-back would depend on the safety of the place. have someone walk you to your car at all times if you do it. there is no shame, if there were no strippers there would be no strip clubs, so since strip clubs exist, you gotta have the personnel.

    Just kidding.

    But seriously.

Thank you. And for the record, my ambition is to study English Literature at a Redbrick University and then to do my Master's degree at Oxford (I've been interviewed already).

I'm way too short (5'1") to be a stripper. A friend worked as a bartender at a strip club (also too short to dance) and said it was great. There's one in Atlanta where the dancers make $150,000+ a year. It is a VERY high end club. If I had the build to do it, I would, except for the whole husband thing. It's good money and it's only as demeaning as you feel it is. Just find a good place.

I'm not opposed to it. I do love feeling sexy and feeling like people want me, but realistically a) i don't have the tits for it and b) I don't think I have the personality and confidence for it. I've never been a performer or one who wanted to be the center of attention.

I would absolutely love to pole dance though! I have SO much respect for pole dancers; it requires so much strength, agility, practice, stamina and flexibility.
My friend used to "dance", but now she's running an escort business. She makes lots of money, men buy her gifts all the time, and she's the most strong and confident woman I've ever met. Everywhere she goes, even when she's in jeans, a sweater and flip flops, she just oozes sexuality.

Nope, I would never strip. I have been to strip clubs, but I would never want to be the entertainment.

Yep. I quit waiting tables last year to utilize my degrees in changing diapers on people with mental retardation.

It's so friggin' awesome I can't stand it. Much better than waiting tables.

I'd rather be homeless, living under a bridge, eating out of dumpsters, and wiping my *kitten* with poison ivy

    than EVER wait tables again.

Stripping cannot be as bad as waiting.

Now, stripping while having to wait tables (we have a couple places like THAT around here...) well, that would be it's own brand of hell.

I definitely would. I have GG boobs but the only thing letting me down is the rest of my body :P My fiance doesn't have a problem with it; we've already talked about that. I'm a businesswoman as well as a student and I'm not an idiot; I had an offer to study at Oxford last year and I turned it down. If my business took a turn for the worst or I needed money to expand it and I was at my goal weight I'd be there, no problem. Obviously I would prefer if it were a high-end place, I've even thought about investing in a strip club. They're bloody good money. Men (or women) are giving you money to dance around suggestively in front of them; easiest money in the world. I've even thought about doing it if I don't need the money. I'm always looking to expand into new businesses and stripping is generally the easiest way forward.

I wouldn't do it in a club, but I really want to learn how to do stuff on the pole. I would do it at a party with friends once I lose the weight and get a lot stronger. It is REALLY hard to do those tricks... :blushing:

I want to take a pole dancing class as excercise when I loose more weight and after that I intend the skill to benifit my man only:wink: BUT I will say that while it is not my choice job if I ever ABSOLUTLEY had to do it to support myself and my kids I would in a heart beat. I would just do it in the next town over so that my kids would not be exposed to it by word of mouth as we live on a small island. But as a parent I would do anything it takes to provide for them.

I would become a stripper then long to be on the stage, push someone down the stairs then have the most dreadful sex in a swimming pool

(Guess the film and you get a point)

Even when I was younger, I never considered it. I'll strip for my husband...or if I have fire ants in my clothing. :noway: I wouldn't suggest taking that sort of job. I would consider it immoral and degrading. I worked a part-time telemarketing job with a girl putting herself through college. One of her jobs was as an exotic dancer. She said she drank a lot before she danced because she hated it. I hope you can come up with a better idea. God bless you.
