Each to their own I guess I put abit of cinnamon and some raisins in for the fibre. Works out pretty well and an easy 700 Calories :D

    Protein powder. Mmmm, proatmeal.

whats the best way to add the protein powder? can it be put in with the water before the oatmeal gets cooked? or does that compromise the nutritional value of the powder? I've tried adding it after and it turned out horrible! ugghhh,,,,,,
I know you guys will have the answer to my problem :-)

I've always added it after. If you cook it it tends to turn into a solid. What type do you use?

I use the Optimum Nutrition Gold and it mixes in completely without a problem.

I don't add anything to my oatmeal. I did try it with prunes and it was good, but I'd rather have it plain.

So this is my third time posting in this thread, but I used to eat a lot of oats. I also used to add either egg whites from a carton or a whole egg (once i got rid of the egg whites) to the oats as they were cooking. It adds a sort of silky texture and protein.

Or, you can add a little orange juice and milk to oats and soak them in the fridge overnight. The next morning, you can eat them cold or heat up and it tastes like oranges and cream.

i don't love oatmeal. in fact, i hate oatmeal. i add dried cranberries, dried blueberries, fresh strawberries, fresh apple cubes, fresh blueberries, a little brown sugar, in no particular combination or order. I think of what I've tried, I least like raisins and will never do it again and most like the strawberries. It tastes like I'm eating yummy strawberries and not nasty oatmeal.

I've been told to try honey but haven't got around to it yet.

+1. I add it in after, using ON + no issues with mixing, although have to say Cookies & Cream oats is a little weird.
Especially when combined with peanut butter.

Fresh strawberries! Before I started changing my eating habits, it was brown sugar, butter and milk, the way I would eat it as a child. Oatmeal is comfort food for me.

Raisins! I'm going to try putting cranberries in it sometime soon!

Oceanspray Craisins are good but my favorite is 2 tsp of brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon.
