I am annoyed with the anti-lady-muscle posts.

Muscles and strength are great, ya just don't wanna look like these ladies(?)... http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Photos-Women-bodybuilders-compete-at-Emerald-Cup-148395585.html?tab=gallery&c=y&img=17
I don't know about dedicating our entire lives to it ... but to clarify dehydration is simply not in vogue any longer. Spray tanning/ comp tanning is so the lights don't drown us out on stage.0 -
I this thread - yay for strong women x0
-
Clarification: I wasn't saying spray tans on those women are awful. Spray tans in general are awful. Orange skin is scary.0

Every female has muscle. Some more to the extent of others. Personally I prefer an athletic looking female with some muscle on her, than a "toned" female.
I find women can be very "opinionated" about other females bodies. Even if a female was "perfect", they would find a flaw.

Apparently you have never seen a GOOD spray tan then. Or did not know you were anyway.
I am "spray tanned" almost year round, never orange, and most people ask me which tanning salon I UV tan at, or if I lay out - (NO to both) - I have been UV tan free for over 20 plus years. I have stood side by side with many UV tanners, and no one knew, or thought I looked any different then they did. I am naturally a pale skintype 2. Am barely able to get more then very light color UV tanning.
Even my Mom, was telling a friend how I am lucky to have such lovely dusky olive skin tone - I don't - she is so used to seeing me tan, she forgets my natural pale color. (she does not live near me, so does not see me daily)
Just for general clarity, for those that may not know: Bodybuilders in competition apply a very heavy, very dark tan, with a slightly opaque bronzing product for STAGE USE ONLY. Just like Broadway Actors apply very heavy, thick opaque and "overdone" makeup. This is made for stage use, where they are under very bright lighting, and need the overdone tan, to show up. As a lighter "natural" tan will look washed out.
They also use it to better define muscle tone.
This is not meant to look natural in real life.
In real life, I have seen many bad fake tans, just like I see many bad hair dye jobs, many bad makeup jobs etc. But you would shocked at how many good spray tans, good dyes jobs, and good makeup applications are around you everyday - that you never notice - because they are done right. Its an extremely booming business industry.
Every Victoria's Secret girl in the catalog is spray tanned. Pretty much all swimsuit models in Sports Illustrated are spray tanned. The majority of Actors and actresses you see are spray tanned for movies, videos, photo shots and red carpet events. Dancing with the Stars folks - all spray tanned.
I know this, because I talk to the techs daily who work with these people. Some of the people I work directly with day to day in product development, have been to the photo shots while these celebs are being sprayed.
I have worked in the Spray Tan industry for over 20 years in consultation, product development and customer service - so I have seen a whole lot of tans, good and bad. Celebrity and civilian. Worked in the UV industry also before that.0 -

I hope you don't mind if I ask you a couple of questions! Do you have issues with the color transferring off (i.e. sheets, clothes, etc)? If not, what type are you using and if so, what do you do to prevent it? I love having tanned skin, but I don't love the possible cancer in my future and have had bad experiences with spray tan. I also tend to have very dry skin, so when I am not moisturized enough, I get flaky and so does my tan Thanks for your insight and your help!!0 -

Men, of course, never express opinions about women's bodies.0 -

Hmmm... think my 60 year old body can get back to that? Not that I had it exactly but it was not the jello that it is now!0 -
I by NO MEANS muscular but I was ECSTATIC yesterday when my trainer told me she's starting to see muscles in my arms when I'm doing my routine.
Congratulations!!! I hope one day I get there.0 -

CBCbrass I answered you on the message you sent me. Color transference is a fixable problem, but I needed more info from you to better address the answer for you.0

To be fair this gal seems to have great genetics. She has a higher body fat than most body builders BUT it seems to all be in her *kitten* and not in her stomach at all.0 -

@ Rae, thats not fat on her butt thats the muscle you get from doing insane squats. Edited to add I take that back if that is another pic of her above. Thats heavy squats and great genes.
Ok on to my weight lifting inspirations. I am 43 and had someone say to me at my age I will never get back to how fit I use to look and to just forget it.
So I went about finding information on fit people over 43 to encourage me. This is why I advocate lifting -

Theres definitely a difference between a woman who's muscular and "cut" which I LOVE and a female body builder. While I commend those ladies for all their hard work I dont think I'd want to be THAT muscular. :ohwell: Lol0
-
I'd guess her body fat percentage is around 20%-22% while most muscular women pictures you see are around 16-18% body fat. Most of use have to get that low to see abs, definition, etc. Her genetics are such that you can see that stuff with the higher boy fat. Like I can see my abs at 22%, but instead of having a nice luscious booty, I have fat thighs.0
-
Hey to each his own. I personally do not like it for me. But everyone has the power to transform their bodies into what THEY want. It should not matter to anyone else. So I say tone or more muscular it is up to you ladies.0

Lol...that's awesome.0 -
Holy crap that's an amazing butt!
Right? Time to increase my mileage!
Why does everyone assume that chick is a runner? All the miles in the world won't give you her rear lol.
I wasn't assuming it at all...I just know that since I started running, my own rear has definitely seen a significant "Perk". My own sister pulled me aside when we were out one night and said something about it! That said, I'd like perkier and the mileage is doing it for me! :laugh:0 -
I think this is a little overboard...I mean, I recognize that you feel this way, I...as a man, simply don't agree. Are women objectified in todays society? Sure. Are men objectified in todays society? You bet.
If you don't believe me, go check out the 'shirtless men' thread.
:blushing:
Beauty period is objectified in todays society. More seriously though...I think it's because women are more sensitive to perceived implications than men are...that they take things wrong. Even when men flat out SAY 'I'd do her'...most of them would be scared to death had they the actual chance, and the ones blustering are usually the most terrified.
Also, as much as I like sex (and, I do), never...in my life, would I ever consider any woman 'a hot pocket for whoever wants her, unless she had already proven by her actions she was. Additionally, I'd likely break any man I felt were truly doing so to a woman in my presence. This has happened in the past.
I appreciate and value your opinions on many things- my feminism isn't one of them
I'm not talking about men- because this thread isn't about them. I stand up for guys too, all the time.
I don't think it's too far- hence my post. I hear you- I really do. I just disagree and think we ALL should be mindful of the message we are sending. The internet isn't a closed room- it's a huge open one that has a wide variety of people reading it. Shouldn't we try to uplift instead of judge as 'doable or not'. I don't want my nieces reading these threads- hard enough already to convince them they are worth more than their sexual availability. I dare say some people who post here wouldn't want their kids to read what they post either.
The problem is that instead of talking about hard work, gym time, personal non-objectified preference (some do get this correct and some don't)- the whole conversation is either - Yay! She's HOT! or Boo! She's NOT HOT!
This is the problem as I see it.
This I can agree with honestly. Maybe it was the actual words used that triggered the 'overboard' response, rather than the message?
We will have to agree, to mostly agree!
I think there is a definite difference in someone saying Yes, she is hot, but that is not my preference on how I want to look vs saying Ewwwww, that is gross, she has muscles popping.0 -
Is that real? Cause that's hot!0 -
