Faking Stats? I wonder....

Some people will always fake on the internet..... or in bed.
Accept it as a fact of life.0 -
Hmm I know I don't fake but I am sure some ppl do!0
-
I guess they are out there, but I just wonder why someone would do that. You're only cheating yourself!0
-
yes I think some do. And you know what...it doesn't really matter, all they are doing is hurting themselves.
someone elses fake number doesn't hurt me, or you, and if we offer them a congratulations or a way to go, they know it's hollow....deep down inside they know they don't deserve it.
So fakers? Yup....worried about it? nope....0 -

<<<<<<<< TOTAL FAKER0

I am sure there are those out there that do ... my thoughts on it are it only hurts themselves! I try to encourage those that need it and be positive.0
-
Not me! I do this for myself, so I don't really care what anyone thinks of my journal or my progress. However, I'm quite sure there are people out there who do!0

^^^^Exactly what I was going to say.^^^^0 -
i guess it's possible
but i don't worry about it really
they'd only be hurting themselves with the lies:ohwell:0 -
Never wondered... don't care what other people do. That would be their loss!0
-
Some people do, i wouldn't doubt it. If so, i'd say they are here for the wrong reasons.0
-
Possibility.....I don't because I do this for me.....the support of my friends is what keeps me going. But you never know....:frown:0
-
I'm sure the trolls do.0
-
Possibly, but they're only cheating themselves.
If getting attention from strangers for something they didn't do makes someone happy, I guess I could care less....0 -
I think people do. I also think people do so unintentionally. I once saw a girl whose wrist measurement was impossible for even an infant. I just rolled my eyes. I'm pretty sure some people can't use a measuring tape correctly.0

My numbers have been honest but I don't put up any pics because I've never liked any pics of myself, yet alone pics of me before my goal weight. I'm probably not the only person here to put up decent numbers and not offer visual proof..... just a thought.0

Their make be people on the site who fake stats, but me personally do not fake my stats. What would I have to gain. This journey is a lifestyle change for me and for most part everyone else who is trying to lose weight.
Just my two cents added

I always think that about people's journal entries! Sometimes I'll see entries that make me wonder... Sometimes though, I guess people really think it's 1/2 a cup when really its closer to 1 cup, ect.
Whatever floats their boat. I try to be brutally honest because in the end, I'm the one who wants/will get results.0 -

I just think some really over exaggerate the "calories burned" like who burns 300 cals cooking supper for an hour? Are you working in a restaurant? Or are they just grossly misinformed? Or am I the one that's wrong?
If so then direct me to the kitchen :noway:0 -
i am sure they do - people create fake profiles on every internet site - use other peoples photos & false information *shrugs* there is a great movie called catfish about this - i honestly don't know where people find the time.0
-
Those people couldn't possibly be serious about their journey. I think you'd notice other things, like not logging or other inconsistencies, to go along with the suspected fakery. It's hard for me to imagine many people would do that.0
-
ive seen b*tches photoshop their own pictures...0
-
I wonder about that too about ppl on MFP. Some of the pictures look like the 'after' pictures were really taking before....years before.... They are dated by the clothes they are wearing, or the quality of the picture....lol0
-
I don't see how they'd be helping anyone by faking stats... this site is supposed to keep track of diet and fitness so you can get a feeling of what works and what doesn't!0
-
Sometimes I want to change mine to 110 pounds and have people think, "Hmm...is that biologically and logically possible?"
But yeah, why would you fake your stats? What a waste of time.0 -
Yep and when they eventually get found out it's never pretty. They even added rules to prevent people from faking results pics.0
-
Try confronting someone you suspect of this... If you're right, they flip out... I didn't accuse anyone, but I mentioned that adding things like 5 minutes walking your kid to the bus stop isn't really helping cuz it's part of your TDEE, and she went bonkers. She never posted actual workouts, just justified eating more by adding things she did throughout the day.0

I know a girl that claims she has 20% bf but is actually at 23%. She just lies about it for some reason. Meh.
I don't fake my stats simply because I never thought about it... Thinking about it, I don't care to show my progress to people. I put it here for me. Lies aren't reality... Losing 3lbs on this site and not in real life doesn't get you anywhere... just makes you a little more insane.0
