Its been said that people say that intelligence is sexy and with the hottest gal/guy threads going on strong ..thought it would be fun to see who the MFP community thinks is the hottest geek/nerd .. Nominees can be either male or female

ME ME ME on the guy side. I'm so nerdy that I don't even bother with pics. I've got more computing equipment in my house and office than NASA. And my stuff WORKS, unlike NASA.....

I mean, you measure Geek hottness based on quality and quantity of technology devices, right?

Ive read the entire A Song of Ice & Fire saga......and I have a printed out map of Westeros

    magical nerdiness, even. well done!

oh please, Ice and Fire? Such a mainstream fad. I've read ALL of L Ron Hubbard's scifi books before he became a god and founded Scientology.

I circle typos in books and have an Excel spreadsheet outlining my budget - by week - for the next five years.

Oh man I do too! I drive my friends crazy pointing out grammar errors, even on menus in restaurants!

I underline typos in books and notice them (with annoyance) in online news articles. After my 2nd interview for my current job (legal researcher/technical writer) I pointed out a typo on the company's website to my future supervisor...I got the job...and now everyone comes to me for "typo checks" haha.

I put Super Mario Brothers on my brand new laptop last week. I even played it with a USB controller in the airport.

I still have my Amiga500 from the 1980s and have even written a couple programs for it.

If it's Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, or anything in league with those, I've read it.

If it's a video game, online or offline, I'm probably better than you.

And yes, I'll probably kick your butt at the gym as well!

Is that the kind of nerdy we're talking about?

to quote a great tv show. "Marry me!"

Shut your whole entire face...and I added you without even KNOWING that. ^This guy
There's people that haven't read that? I mean, I know one, maybe two, but really?

I could list the geek books I've read, but there is a character limit on posts. But I do build my own computers

I already know who is the hottest 'nerd' on MFP (though I don't actually think he's a nerd at all)

I won't say his name though... he already knows. I tell him all the time he's a hot nerd and that I dig his nerd speak.

I've read the Dark Tower series, dunno if that qualifies as "nerdy".
I'm also all about the NCR, 100000 XP points if you know what that is.

I'm hoping you are talking Fallout. I always preferred the Brotherhood. They made me feel like a paladin, old school.

I'm a systems administrator who loves Doctor Who. I've read tons of science fiction, Neal Stephenson, William Gibson and Dan Simmons are my favorite authors. I am also a semi-professional singer, mostly Baroque music (Bach, Handel, Telemann). Does that make me MORE or LESS geeky??

I'm on my linux box at the moment, Windows 7 is running as a virtual machine right now but I only use it for work so it's minimized... :)

I gotta get in on this one! I totally embrace my geekdom by working with computers, electronics, programming code and gadgets. Our house if full of Star Wars movies, books, costumes, toys and action figures... but I'll always be a Trekkie at heart. :) I draw the line at comic books though. LOL!

Edit to add: I just spent the afternoon putting out fires with crashed servers and configuring routers. :)
  • Nerdy guys are pretty attractive to me. lol

Idk if I'm considered a nerd haha. I'm a school fanatic; I love learning, going to college and I cry when the semester ends. Does that count as nerdy? haha

I'm a word nerd, love the Dune and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series, and would watch Merlin and Stargate repeatedly if it weren't for the dang kids.
    Untitled-1.jpg

    Loves Merlin...Winner

    YAY!!! Thanks! :flowerforyou:
I'm loading up an episode right now.

I never win anything. Well that's not true, I won one of those guess the # of jelly beans in a jar contests ten years ago. The prize was the jar of jellybeans, and I don't even like them. Not sure if that counts then...

Oh, and I've worked in IT for nearly 2 decades, designed websites when all that was available was HTML, and once helped Johnson Space Center select an IP network camera to attach to a rover that was training in the dessert. They were testing remote control for a possible space project. I love that I was a part of that... even if I'll never know if that project got scrapped or not. Things like this excite me... so yes, I'm a nerd. :D

The nerdiest thing about me is knowing binary code. And if reading the Dark Tower series counts then add that too lol.

A noble gas walks into a bar. The bartender says "sorry, we don't serve noble gases in here." The noble gas did not react.

    thanks for the chuckle!

Seriously people, I write science fiction/fantasy, have a library of scifi/fantasy books that requires multiple trips to the moving truck to transport, forge knives and swords (yes, with a hammer, anvil, and fire), have had a max level end game raid geared toon in in four major MMORPG's pretty much continuously since 1999, in one of which I carried top ranger on the server title for four years.

I build my own computers, am a whiz at photoshop, poser, 3ds max, and know what to do to keep things running straight, even when Windows doesn't.

It doesn't get nerdier than that.

I'm a network administrator by trade, and programmer for fun. I play games (when I can) as well - and have been tearing up D3 co-op with friends. Loving Sci-Fi and watch documentaries about the universe nearly every night before bed. Bonus points: This is my bedroom... Anyone recognize? ;)

I'm the "Alpha Nerd" in my group of nerds... true story...

I used to think I was shy until I became a software developer...and met other developers...

Also, I'm game for more nerd friends... if you've every used a spreadsheet to calculate your calories in and out and had it mathematically match your overall weight loss trend over the course of several months, you know where I'm coming from.

Or played Chrono Trigger (and fracking loved it), that makes you a-okay in my book.

The fact that you use "frack" in conversation is awesome. I said something was "frackin amazing" once and people looked at me weird. lol

LOL yeah, finally got another of my buddies to watch bsg the other day... OH and both my girls LOVE doctor who
Doctor Who is on my list of shows I really need to watch but my problem is that I've started too many new shows and I want to watch them all at once. lol
Speaking of British shows.... Have you seen the IT Crowd? Funny as hell!

I freakin' love The IT Crowd! So sad it's been cancelled!

VIVA IT CROWD! seriously. has anyone seen Garth Merenghi's Darkplace? or The Mighty Boosh? Snuff Box? Look Around You? i think Matt Berry is in every single one of those shows. he's a magical genius.
