    Hey guys,

I ran a half marathon here in Canberra (Australia) yesterday - it was a lap race around a park, organised by one of the running clubs. I was worried I would have gotten bored completing the 13x 1 mile laps - but I actually enjoyed it. There was one section where we had to step down off the kurb and the back up onto it later - and I am not sure my knees enjoyed those 13 times, but it was a good fun course. Has anyone else competed in something similar?

I managed to stay consistant - on an 8.5 min per mile pace. My first couple of laps were a little bit faster, but I settled into a good pace after the excitement wore off. The weather was a good comfortable 8 degrees celcius (46 f) with a mild head wind - that was a little chilly in the shade. That was my 2nd official half marathon - and I managed to shave 2 minutes off my PB from my run on 15 April. My next is 1 July, the Gold Coast Half Marathon and given thats a long flat and fast course, I am still hoping to shave another 3 minutes off!

Anyone else compete in any events over the weekend?

I have not done a multiple loop race yet, but it sounds like it was not too bad. It would be interesting though to see if my laps were consistent thru the loops though. You kept a create pace, and congrats on your new PB! My (potential) next half is around the same time as yours, June 30th (in Sweden). Not sure how I will do in a different climate zone. We will see.

4.12 mile run in 45:18, Avg Pace 11:00mm, Splits 11:35 - 11:02 - 11:02 - 10:32, Temp 91, Dew Point 70, slight breeze, sunny, BC 5/5 for first 2.5 miles then 4/4 the rest of the way. Legs felt good. I feel good :)

Saw 3 Sand Hill Cranes, think one of them was a youngster. Lots of lizards and squirrels today, a male cardinal, and some ducks. Saw no runners or walkers, not even a bicyclist. There were some dark clouds to the NE when I walked home from work, but they had moved away by the time I headed out for my run.

by the way, i noticed that brookepenni and sweetcouchpot also hit the more than halfway mark last week, so well done to you both!

3.11 mile run in 33:13, Avg Pace 10:41, Splits 11:21 - 10:42 - 10:07 - last 0.11 in 1:03 (9:33mm pace), Temp 92F, DP 72F, slight breeze, sunny, BC 5/5 for two miles, then 4/4. Legs felt pretty good during the run, but felt a bit sore during the cool down walk. I need to reign myself back some on the pace, going faster than planned.

I noticed one squirrel on my run, and a bicyclist, that's it, lol. I'm sure there was more, but I was in the zone most of the time and didn't notice. Saw 15-20 ducks on my cool down walk though.

Is it too late to join? I've been marathon training and while I joined the 100 mile thread at the beginning of the month I only log my 3 weekly runs.

    So far my mileage is:

    6/1 3.18
    6/3 3.25
    6/6 4.31
    6/8 4.20

So far 14.94. I definetly want to surpass the 50 mile mark by 6/30.

Worked on my pace today and picked up some extra mileage in the same time frame as my last 2 runs. Today's total 4.81.

    MTD: 19.75
    MTG: 30.25

    Just did 5.1 tonight! :)

    MTD: 24.85
    MTG: 25.15

Unfortunately, not that great. The Bell's Palsy is what it is and that's not really bothering me, but I am having a lot of upper body aches and pains that fit the description of Lyme Disease. A couple Advil take the edge off and I'm able to function at about 90%. It hasn't impacted my ability to run at all, thank God. Doctor's appointment tomorrow morning for blood tests. We'll get it straightened out. Thanks for asking.
