Would you rather be "wanted" or "needed" ?

In the song "Colder Weather" by the Zac Brown Band is the line "I don't want you, but I need you." This line has prompted me to ponder rather I would rather be "wanted" or "needed".
My feelings: Needing me means "He couldn't survive without me, because of all the things I do for him." Wanting me means "He could survive without me, but chooses not to." I dont want to be needed, I need to be wanted.
So, here is my question to you: In your realtionship (children aside, and employment aside) would you rather be "needed" or "wanted"?

Wanted......
So you desire my attention, my touch, and what I do for you....If you want me you will TRY to please me!!
If you need me then it's kind of a job and anyone can fill the void as long as they provide for your needs i.e. a roof, clothes, and a food.0 -
Definitely WANTED... I was needed for 10+ years...I am so done with needy men!!0

What about a "Want" so strong that it becomes a "need"?
Needing someone doesn't always have to be because of something they physcially, socially or monetarily provide for you.
That said, I still would rather be with someone who chooses to be with me because they want to.0 -
I prefer to be wanted.
If someone only tells me that he needs me then I might assume that he only think of me as a hooker or as a sugar mommy.0 -
I want to be needed....you know like bread dough0

I "Need" to be "Wanted"...0

I guess I'm lucky, because I'm both. (WANTED and needed. )
My dear hubby is both. I love him so much and want him around, I deffinitely need him here too. I couldn't imagine life without him.
He is as much a part of me as my right arm, and I would give that up, before I gave him up.0 -
Both:)!!! It's nice to be wanted but I wanna be usefull too (<<needed)0

Wanted. I dislike needy. But there is also a fine line between the two. I like to walk the side of want but when two people choose to share a life there is a bit of need that goes along with all that.0

Always wanted, never needed.
To need is to imply that you simply cannot do without, when in reality you can. It just sucks more.0 -

Wanted. As more as a self esteem thing than anything, though wanting can directly lead to needing, which is you look at it like that, isn't such a bad thing.0
