Biggest Pet Peeves at the Gym

When people look at me like I'm wasting time walking on the treadmill at 2.5 mph.0

The makeup thing can be coincidental. most times I'm at the gym I have on makeup because I go directly from work where-of course-I put an effort into how I look....HOWEVER. On a Saturday morning at 8:00AM? Yeah-no makeup. Are you there to impress or sweat?
1.) Guys that spend more time looking in the mirror at themselves than they do lifting weights. A group of four guys at my gym do that. I wonder just how many successful relationships start at gyms...hmm.
2.) People who are obviously there to show off and not to work out. If you are not sweating, you are not working hard enough.
3.) Agree with not wiping down your machine. It's called hygiene and common courtesy.
I purposely chose a gym that would discourage these kinds of things. I've been pretty happy with it for the most part. Obviously working out in a gym will breed this type of behavior. Oh well.0 -
The "grunting guy", ummm hello that weight is obviously to heavy.
The girl with the pretty/fresh make-up, big hoop earrings, hair down, and converse tennis shoes...and looks the same when she leaves, please work up a sweat!!!
Walking around in socks.0 -
people who fill their huge bucket of water in the water fountain while i'm waiting to get a sip0
-
It's 5:00am and the gym is pretty empty and someone walks past 15 available treadmills..and jumps up on the one right next to me! Ugh!0
-
Women that come in with no make up and any old shirt they pull off the floor.
people that stare at me when im on my phone ....seriously f off
I have to disagree. Why would I wear makeup when I am going to sweat it off anyway? I don't care if someone is on the phone, but if they are sitting on equipment I want to use and talking, I will ask them if they are done. I love when they tell me they are using it and then end up sitting there for another 10 minutes talking and then leave without ever using it.0 -
I think my biggest i agree is the no cleaning off equipment there are tons of wipes all over my gym i always clean before and after...I also do not like all the millions of people who sit around on machines just talking most people spend 3 hours at the gym and only actually work out 5 minutes...i like to do what i gotta do and use the gym for the sole purpose of WORKING OUT!!
I also don't care how i look working out i mean I don't go looking completely trashed but no make up hair out my face pulled in pony tail with a hat and "work out" clothes and I'm good to go because when I'm done i'm going straight in the shower so what's the point getting all fancy. :laugh:0 -
Guys that judge you for deadlifting 135lb. Makes me feel bad.0

How do you know someone is not getting off work on a saturday morning? plenty of people work overnights0 -
I use the pool and it makes me just crazy when I go in during the times when the pool is reserved for adult lap swim, and I find kids in the lanes half heartedly swimming or ANYONE using it to water jog during those times - there's a small pool open at the same time for those activities - swim laps or get out of the lane!!0

People who think randomly touching a wet wipe to a few spots on a machine actually makes a difference in the amount of germs that are on it.
I may very well have wiped it down, but based on the number of comments about this topic, I'm led to believe that there is an overabundance of germophobes out there. I probably didn't do a job satisfactory to your liking, so if you are so concerned about the sweat left behind by someone else, wipe it down before you get on.
Now...
what does bother me is lazy a-holes that will piss all over a toilet seat rather than lift it up first.
1. If you can't take the time (are are too scared of germs) to lift the seat, use the urinal, but...
2. If you are too embarrassed by the size of your manhood to use the urinal, then...
3. If you aim is so bad that you can't hit the hole, and you're too lazy (or scared) to lift it, then clean your piss off the seat when you finish.
I'd rather wipe up somebody's sweat than their urine.0 -
RE-RACK THE GOD DAMNED WEIGHTS.
If you and your chicken legs are strong enough to do 3 plates with horrible form on squats, you should put them back.
Oh yeah, and when people talk to me.0 -
people who fill their huge bucket of water in the water fountain while i'm waiting to get a sip
I'm one with a bucket, but I always try to let the ones who sip go first. I feel bad when they show up out of nowhere after I've started filling up.0 -
I pick it up and put it down! (said in an Arnold schzwanegger voice) I used to see alot of these at my old gym, but at my new one I have yet to see it. Maybe it's still new enough so I don't see any of the things you've already listed or maybe I just go at off peak hours-- the benefit of a true 24 hour gym
At my old gym the biggest pet peeve I had was in the pool. People wouldn't want to share a lane or anything and there were typically only 3 lap lanes available. I miss swimming in my workouts but the savings make up for it.0 -
people with absolute terrible form!
guys curling in the squat cage!0 -
I do not see a problem with girls wearing only sports bras at the gym. I personally dont do it but then again I don't have the stomach for it. Sometimes when I see girls like that then it encourages me to push harder to get that flat toned stomach.
Exactly haha. Motivation! Although at my college girls dont seem to walk around in a sports bra. And I don't wear much makeup (that's dumb) and wear my hair up but have a semi-cute outfit. You're there to get it done, not look cute! Lol..0 -
I hate when people judge me when I'm at the gym then post about it on the internet. It's none of your damn business how long it took me to get ready or if I'm sweating or not.
Yessss you're absolutely right!0 -
People that don't wipe down the equipment. Gross!
The guys that come in and do a run on the treadmill or go as fast as they can on the elliptical for 5 to 10 minutes or try to lift weight way too much for them and drop them. Yes we see and hear you and we are not impressed.
For the most part, the gym I go to is pretty nice but it is on a military base.0 -
People (women especially) with foul potty mouths. I admired and envied this one particular woman for a long time. I was jealous specifically of how she had so much endurance and stamina on the stair climber. One day, I forgot my headphones and listened to her potty mouth talk to her neighboring work out buddies for an hour. Eww...now I hate her.0
-
So wait...we should be wearing what exactly? I don't wear nice clothes to work out...anybody else?0

Haha!! I love this, mainly because it happens to me when I come home from college -_- Bleh so gross0 -
1. People who are on the phone. Really if you can talk you aren't working out. Especially since there are signs everywhere saying no phones.
2. People who talk and hold up the equipment. really I'm here for a purpose move go talk in the food court!
3. People who don't wipe down the equipment nothing more to say than GROSS!
And my number one:
Guys and girls that 1. don't use deodorant or use too much perfume.0 -
1. Girls who spend two hours getting ready just to go to the gym and you can smell their perfume a mile away!
2. Girls who do not work up a sweat, you are at the gym to lose weight not to look pretty and pick up guys.
3. Girls who wear just a sports bra in front of the whole gym... I do not care how skinny you are it is just wrong!
anyone ever notice that the only people who ever have these complaints at the gym are other women:laugh:
It doesn't bother me when girls put loads of effort in to go to the gym but what the point? Your make-ups going to sweat off n your hairs gonna get a mess
thats the thing those girls don't sweat!!
Yeah but what they do is pay their money just like everyone else to be there.0 -
I text while Im on the elliptical sometimes doesnt mean im not there to work out or that im ot profusely sweating haha
1. Broken machines piss me off too.
2. When there is 8 free machines and someone hops on the one next to mine.
3. Excessive grunting and groaning, you sound like a porn star
4. Fit and strong chicks that have cute shorts and sports bras that make me look bad (hahah jk, thats my issue not theirs  )0 -
Good Point.
On the other hand, there are plenty of people who, even if they were at home just getting out of bed, would get all dressed up like they were going somewhere that looks actually matter. This is geared toward those individuals.0 -
not wiping off the machines after ur done, especially if u r a sweater, it makes me wanna gag!! YUCK!!0

I know...Gross0

it is really such a dangerous epidemic that people wear make up to the gym,the injurys suffered by all the people it affects besides the one wearing the make up is staggering. Soon gyms will wise up an ban this dangerous practice0 -
Ok, I LOVE it when a woman is confident enough in herself to look nice at the gym, especially if she looks good. Gives me something to look at while I'm taking a minute to breathe. Her wasting her money if she's not there to workout is her problem, not mine. And if she's interested, I'll go talk when I'm done working out. It's a win-win situation. We both get what we really wanted out of our trip to the gym, and I get an added bonus in the form of a number.
That's all I have to say about that topic.0 -
YES. . .I have SO been waiting for this thread. . .
Empty gym and this guy has to use the machine right next to me everytime I am there. . . .and he grunts like a pig too. . not like "yes I just lifted this huge weight" grunt. . . literally like a pig0
