I did end up running 3 miles at lunch yesterday and it felt great. I did it very slow. I laughed when I saw the post about feeling like you're running in place, because that's how I felt yesterday, but I did my 3 miles straight without stopping. Who'd thunk I could ever do this :noway: Oh and BTW my legs are getting defined  I actually am getting quads instead of thunder thighs :smokin:

I saw that you are starting the 10K training in another thread! I sure hope that one day I can join you there too!

Oh that 25 minute run was near impossible....

BUT I DID IT!!!!

Not one time during it did I stop!

*doing the happy dance, looking like a moron and not caring, dancing some more* :drinker:
  • W5D3 DONE! I ran the 20 minutes straight!

I never thought that it was possible. I raised my arms, you would have thought I was Rocky. hee hee. It was slow, very slow, so I empathize with the others. But it's just the beginning!

I was so afraid of that run, but hey all you guys who are just starting, you CAN do this! I weight 206, and I'll be 50 years old in April. I never thought I'd run that 20 minutes. But I'm not stopping here, I'm going to keep going. I'll run slow, till I lose weight and just naturally start to move faster. If I can do this guys ,so can you! I'm cheering for every single one of you!!!!!

And Laurajoy EAT CAKE for your birthday!!!!!!!!!!! :-) It's just a piece of cake, eat it and enjoy it!!!

And to all of you, thank you for this thread and your gracious support.

Awesome kurneckc I can't wait till I'm there! I am doing w3d3 today! Then in if my shoes keep the shin splints away again, I'm going to run wk 4 day 1 tomorrow. I get bored just sitting around on the weekends now LOL

Oh and the bear is still here LOL he was in my brothers back yard yesterday which is two doors down. They had use a huge chain saw to help dismantle a moose they had shot hunting (sorry if that grosses you out) and the bear packed the chain saw off into the woods behind their house! :noway: So I'm still sticking to running back and forth between the same 6 houses on our street just in case. Its boring but safe. I'll let you know how my run goes.

A bear alone is bad enough, but a bear packing a chain saw is really bad!!!

What a mental picture that brought to mind!!! hee hee.

    But do be safe!

I am sorry Laurajoy, but this made me laugh out loud! I am picturing a bear running with a chain saw!!!!! Hopefully that bear will leave soon so that you can get a more scenic run!

Welcome to the group. :flowerforyou: Just a word of warning though, the c25k program is addictive. But since you're already on day 2, you probably realized that already. Too late!

  • I just finished w3d3 and I'm already wanting to move to the next week LOL I'll wait till tomorrow and be a good girl

I didn't have a run in with the chain saw toting bear LMAO that is pretty funny now that I think about it! But I am going to have to be a little more careful now cause my mom's dog that runs with me isn't able to keep up at all anymore, he'll be way behind me the whole time and I have to back track a lot, so I'm a little more on my own. The poor dog is like 13 years old and has bad hips, but he tries to keep up with me bless his heart. I think next spring I'm going to get a bigger dog (I own a chihuahua and he hates running with me, he couldn't make it through w1d1 lol) and have a running partner next year. I really want a puppy now, but can't afford one sadly :grumble:

Everyone keep up the good work.

Phild04 this program is totally addictive like mommared said. Its awesome.

yes, I can see that.... I couldn't do it yesterday and it was driving me crazy!!!! I couldn't wait to get to this gym this afternoon and do it!! Do you guys run outside or on the treadmill ususally??

I run outside with my daughter. There's a running trail that goes right behind my apartment complex so we run on that.

I mostly run outside on grass, sometimes on a track and as it gets dark and wet (I live in northern England) I will probably run more and more on the treadmill. No chainsaw massacre bears, but the weather here will make running icky starting next month. I prefer outdoors.

SO - supposed to run W3 D3, but I think I messed up!! I really overdid it on Wednesday and I still did step aerobics the next day. My right hip and knee are really sore - I'm worried that it is verging on injured sore. I'm icing and massaging. I did NO exercise yesterday to rest it. I think I could run if I run very very slow, but perhaps it is better to skip D3 this week and do yoga today and tomorrow. :grumble: :grumble:

I'm trying to be wise and listen to my body, but it IS so addictive this program that I'm about to tear up  thinking about skipping today. My naughty voice is saying, "Just take your ipod to the park and start walking, start the first interval and see how it goes. You can always stop if it hurts...come on....just one little running fix.."

OMG I was thinking the same thing! Except the part about a little running fix. I haven't gotten to that point yet. lol I took off yesterday, but I'm sitting here ready to go to the lake. I keep going back and forth in my head whether or not I should go or pop in a DVD. My ankle feels better, but I've always had problems with my ankles - both of them have been sprained more than a couple of times (which is why I stopped running in the first place). I want to get back into it so bad. I still haven't decided. Hmmm....

Anyway, there is a paved walking/running trail at the lake park not even 1/2mi. from me. This is where I've been going. Actually there is a pretty good sized lake and they made this man-made pond next to the lake for running/walking. Once you get about half way, you don't have any choice but to walk or run the rest of the way - that's good for me. lol I don't trust my ankles enough to run on different terrain.

Next week all we have to do is repeat this each of the three days! Can you say easy week?

I run on the treadmill, too but I like it because I know my pace stays consistent. Otherwise, I would probably slow down to next to nothing then speed up and be all over the place. Everything I read about running talks about how important pace is, so I figure this is teaching me to pace myself.
