I miss the days of proper grammar and still cringe at improper uses. Also, I will never stop using the serial comma.

My spelling is fine, but my grammar and my punctuation is just awful.

    I love gramma Nazis.

I want to be one.

    It's the difference between:
"Today I bought a fishing pole, tackle box, worms and BBQ sauce."
and "Today I bought a fishing pole, tackle box, worms, and BBQ sauce."

Mmmm. Worms 'n sauce. Delicious and wriggly.

"I really want to LOOSE some weight!"
When I see this, it makes me want to remove my eyeballs with a spoon.

Nice article. I, too, am a grammar nerd. Actually, I just know how to write and speak in my native language (English). So, if that makes me a nerd, then so be it.

I just fell in love with you. Just thought you should know. :)

Fellow grammar nerd here! My biggest pet peeve is when people on MFP state they want to "loose" X amount of weight. The correct spelling LOSE!

I see this all the time too, and it drives me crazy!

I saw this on facebook a while back. Punctuation saves lives. "Let's eat Grandma". " Let's eat, Grandma."

My grammar isn't 100%, but at least my spelling is passable. The only time I short-cut or text-speak is when I'm being a smartypants. When chatting or texting, I type out all my words - it's simply how I roll. Other than that, I just make sure I write/speak in a way that's understandable.

I have read seven pages of grammar nazi speak. And not once in those seven pages has one person pointed out that the title of this thread is grammatically incorrect.

    Posers.

I love this thread. I, too, am a grammar nerd, and am proud to be one!

A favorite movie quote of mine: Henry Higgins said to Eliza Doolittle, "You'll get much further with the Lord if you learn not to offend His ears."

Love it!! Just complained in another post about loose/lose, its/it's, and several others that escape my memory at the moment.

My favourite is pacifically instead of specifically. Makes me chuckle every time!

Pacifically? lol. I have never heard anyone SERIOUSLY say that.

Yep, in work... drove me to distraction. In the end I had to tell her, it seemed cruel not to! Made no difference, I think she just considered me mental!
