I'm not going to read through 12 pages of this, but wanted everyone to know that I found a powdered peanut butter that has 85% less fat than regular PB and you can add it to the overnight oats instead of real PB... they also have a PB/chocolate combo.

Oh my, just ordered, can't wait for them to arrive!

I have had these twice and now love them.
My base is 1/4 c. quick oats, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 tbs of chis seeds, and tsp of stevia. This makes the base 125 cals. . Then I add the flavor. Today was cinnamon and diced frozen peaches. It was great. Gonna have to get some fresh peaches to try aslo.

Mmmm, the pina colada one sounds good. Thanks for the ideas!
  • I am disabled and not usually able to stand long enough to cook a healthy breakfast... so I have been living on different flavors of cheerios in the morning... and despite the variety it gets boring fast and then the siren call of greasy bacon and/or other fast food favs start calling my name... I saw one of my friends had commented and the name of the post drew me in... so Thank you Thank you Thank you... I will be trying this very soon... so easy and a nice step away from anything I have been doing lately. I appreciate you sharing.

Sounds good, but try old fashioned oats instead of instant, and don't heat them up!

    This is a Mango/Almond Recipe (I sub in peach/nectarine for the mango-yum!)
    Ingredients
•1/4 cup uncooked old fashioned rolled oats
    •1/3 cup skim milk
    •1/4 cup low-fat Greek yogurt
    •1-1/2 teaspoons dried chia seeds
    •1/4 teaspoon almond extract
•1 teaspoon honey, optional (or substitute any preferred sweetener)
•1/4 cup diced mango (approx. half of a small mango)

    Directions
In a half pint jar or container, add oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, almond extract and honey. Put lid on jar and shake until well combined. Add mangoes and stir with fork until mixed throughout. Return lid to jar and refrigerate overnight or up to 2 days. Eat chilled.

Someone else posted this one last year. I tried it and OMG, so good!

3/4 cup of rolled oats (not the quick cooking or instant oats)
1/2 cup of canned pumpkin (the plain, unsweetened kind, not the pumpkin pie mix)
1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1/4 tsp of pumpkin pie spice (add more or less according to your tastes)
2 splenda packets or sweetener of your choice

Mix everything except the oats in a smaller sized tupperware type of container. Whisk milk, pumpkin, splenda, and spices with a fork together until they are all blended into a unified orange liquid. Then add in oats and mix together until oats are fully coated with orange liquid.

Put oats in the fridge for a few hours (preferably overnight) or until the oats are soft. Then serve and eat. Can also be heated up,

Prepped this one last night and am enjoying it right now. I added extra equal because it wasn't sweet enough for me. Next time I will add a little more pumpkin spice. Thanks for the recipe, it's delicious!
  • I made 3 versions of this on Sunday and froze 2 of them...found that hint on another site and it worked beautifully!

Monday - I did vanilla fig (since I had bought some yummy figs @ the farmers market over the weekend) - this wasn't my favorite sadly but it was good...took 1/4 c old fashioned oats
    1/4 c milk
1.5 tsp vanilla (this might have been a little too much)
    1/4 c plain greek yogurt
    2 figs, chopped
1 tsp flax seed (have not found chia seeds yet but still looking!)

then I did apple cinnamon (which was my favorite by far!)
    1/4 c old fashioned oats
    1/4 c milk
    1/4 c plain greek yogurt
    3 tbsp unsweetened apple sauce
    1 tsp honey
    cinnamon to taste

today was blueberry maple (also very good)
    1/4 c old fashioned oats
    1/4 c milk
    1/4 c plain greek yogurt
    2 tsp maple syrup
blueberries (didn't measure, but it was no more than 1/4 of a cup)

I invested in mason (canning) jars over the weekend - wal mart has a box of 12 for about 8 bucks, makes the preparation so much easier and just put the extra ones in the freezer, pulled them out and put in the fridge the night before I was going to eat and they were perfect by morning...

Seriously addicted to cold oatmeal now! Have tried the pina colada version before too, that's going in tonight's batch!

I love oats and have considered doing this, but every picture I see they look runny. Should they be runny or just somewhat mushy?

If you like your oats thick, then just make sure the ratios are right, and also consider adding both chia seeds and ground flaxmeal.

    1/3 cup milk
    1/4 cup oats
    1/4 greek yogurt
    1 T chia
    1T Flax

And it will be nice and thick - almost like cookie dough

I make a big batch on sunday and put it in individual containers for husband and i for the week. If you get the Dannon FF plain yogurt at walmart thats 100 calories a cup then it is 199 calories per 1 cup serving. the recipe I use is 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats (the quick cook make it taste nasty in my opinion), two large containers plain regular yogurt (the reg yogurt allows the oatmeal to absorb more liquid), and two cans crushed pineapple in 100%juice (big cans mind you). You can also add a couple teaspoons of almond or vanilla extract...we love the almond. This is breakfast...sometimes I'll add a couple of boiled egg whites on the side, but with 5 kids, four of which are under the age of 8, I'm lucky to get it on my way out the door...
