day 3 on level 2 done! (day 22 overall!)

still haven't seen much movement on the scale, but i feel better and i think my measurements have probably gone down, but I am waiting to remeasure until day 30 overall.

Georg - i do the shred pretty much every day, but once i start a new level it is definitely necessary for break days because your body is adapting to the new and intense routine. good luck!

sky - i think i do agree that it goes faster, but holy ****, especially that last circuit with all the shoulder stuff is a KILLER!!! when i get to the last abs i can hardly keep myself in plank! tricks that others use to keep it going during those plank jacks for cardio and then the abs???

    Good morning,

I didn't do any shredding this weekend, but went for a three hour trail ride on horseback and man, am I sore! Of course, this kept me from attempting any exercising this weekend (I could barely even walk!). But, I'm going to at least get some walking in this evening.

It's a hectic week at work, so I'll be sitting at my desk more than usual, which doesn't help.

The exciting thing, though, is that my mom, sister and I are starting our own Biggest Loser challenge starting tomorrow evening. We're each going to put $25 in the pot and whoever has the greatest percentage of weight loss by our deadline will get the entire pot with the requirement that they buy themselves something nice...it cannot go toward bills or food. We're having our initial weigh-in during Biggest Loser tomorrow night. That being said, I'll have to be serious about working out and getting my Shred time in!

    Happy exercising,
    Heather

Day 20, did level 2 today shredded to level 3 yesterday and took a rest day on saturday. Sounds like everyone is feeling yucky like me, my muscles are aching, stomach killing me, and head ponding! I am barely eating which makes it hard to workout and oh my I was so out of breath during the workout. Wish I would just get better I really want to start running also with my shredding hopefully this week if this yuckyness goes away!

Day 12, L2 (Day 3 of level 2) and I am finally back on track.

Skywalker- Yes, I was in the same boat - thank god I am out now and back on track. I haven't been so out of energy in a long time... and drank tons of water. Glad to hear you are doing better as well! I am promising not to quit at this. I didn't care how many days it took me to get better. I had to rest those two days. It was just impossible to do anything.
Hopefully, we all stay well and keep on shredding! Almost 1/2 way through... I am going to just keep at it!

    Okay.
    I'm so sore today. :grumble:
I did level 1 again after work, but my right knee & my left ankle are not very happy about it. :frown:
Tomorrow I'll ride the bike instead, try Shredding again Wednesday.
    Holy moly.
    :noway:
    Thanks for all your help.
I'm afraid Jillian will get me if I don't keep it up!

    Good morning,

I'm glad that those of you who were feeling under the weather are making improvements.

I will be Shredding tonight either before or after Biggest Loser, depending on how late I have to be at work tonight. Dinner is already planned and I'm excited for the first weigh in of my family's BL challenge.

    Happy exercising,
    Heather

    Day 13, L2 -
Daughter was right with me tonight doing the high knees (so funny). She is only 16 months so it's funny to see her working out with me. Usually, I like to be alone with no distractions when I am working out but, I worked out earlier than I normally do so, she was still awake and my husband was cracking up laughing. Probably will help down the road though as she grows to know that this is something everyone should be taught. How to be healthy! Anyway, looking forward to BL tonight. Have to do some laundry now, uggh...

did level 2 day 4 today (day 23 overall), tomorrow i am taking a rest day from the shred and just doing some cardio at the gym because my muscles are sore and i think they need a day to recover from this level 2 madness (esp the shoulders, good lord!!!)

level 2 is still killing me... i can't hold myself in plank anymore by the end.. i feel like all the exercises target the shoulders somehow!!! soooo intense.

hey you level 3ers - what is targeted in that workout? and how does it compare to level 2?

Day 5 of level 2 done!! (15 total). Half way!!! I said at the beginning of this that I was going to take measurements at the start, halfway through, and at the end. I should take them tomorrow morning, but I want to wait an extra day or 2 so TOM is completely gone. I tend to puff up a bit at that time

Anyway, great job so far, everyone! :drinker:

April_mesk, you said your daughter was shredding along with you... Well, I don't have children, but I did have a nosy cat trying to walk around under me during plank poses

Ok, I weighed in and took measurements this morning..
Since starting the Shred I'm down 4 lbs and have lost the following inches...

    hips -1
    chest -1
    chest (under boobs:tongue: ) -.25
    arms -. 5
    thigh - .5
    calves - .25

Not a huge weight loss, but I'm happy with the tape measure

Ok so I moved to level 2 yesterday and it kicked my butt. I felt more tired during level 2 then I did in level 1. I really liked it even though I was ready for it to be over by the end. Jow long have each of you been on each level. I was on level 1 for 7 days...spread out within 3 weeks.
  • Hey Shredders

Its almost Oct 1st and I have done 5 Sheds since we started I feel like such a slacker... :frown:

I thought I could manage the short 20 mins ... but at the end of the day I have no steam left... Maybe when I get in better shape ? ... I hope!

But I will try again. So I have enjoyed reading ALL YOUR SUCCESSES and will continue.

    GOOD LUCK hitting day 30!!!

    Good evening, everyone!

Everyday: Don't feel bad about only have 5 Shreds in...I'm right there with you. I've been getting in a lot of walking, but not much else.

Bribaby: Thanks for the well wishes. I'm excited about our family challenge.

Last night was Shred #6 and it felt harder than the last few times. I think I was getting lazy from having such a hectic week at work. No volunteering tonight, so it will either be Shred or the treadmill, depending on how much energy I have.

Did anyone else watch Biggest Loser? I can't believe what Tracy did...even Jillian says it was some of the nastiest game playing she's ever seen on the show! Bummer for the red team, but they looked great and I can't wait to see how they do when the finale rolls around.

    Happy exercising,
    Heather

    Good morning, everyone!

Last night, I was naughty and ate some delicious Chinese food for dinner. To make up for it, I decided I needed to burn more calories than I do in Shred, so I did Jillian's No More Trouble Zones video. I burned 659 calories in 45 minutes! Woohoo. That put me back within my calorie allowance for the day!

I have to say, though, that my arms felt like spaghetti noodles by the time I got done with the plank circuit, but I gave thorough effort to all of the moves (except pushups, which I still can't do). I'm considering trying the Metabolism Boost tonight or doing Shred AND some treadmill time. Decisions, decisions...

    Happy exercising!

I didn't shred last night - but I am planning on doing it tonight. I weighed in last night and gained a 1 lb.! Whatever, I am not going to worry. I have been doing well and will get to my pre-pregnancy and beyond with my weight loss I just know it.

To all those feeling like they are slacking, you really aren't. Everyone is at their own fitness level and it is best to go at your own pace whatever that is. Rome was not built in a day...

BL was good the other night but I was shocked by Tracy - I so hope she gets booted next week. I feel bad for Mo, though... uggh.

Skywalker - you are doing awesome with those measurements! The way I am trying to think of things is if there is a loss in measurement or even in lbs. whatever way it has to be good, right? I know I gained a lb. but, I have lost inches so I am not overly concerned. My clothes are fitting so much better and everyone is telling me how great I look....

Keep up the great work everyone! Happy October...it's freezing!

    Good afternoon,

April_mesk: Where are you from? It's cold (42 degrees) and raining here in Minnesota...brrr! It was a bit miserable feeding horses this morning. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I keep telling myself that I'm doing alright because I can see/feel changes, even if I haven't done much actual shredding.

At least if we exercise inside today, it will keep us warm!

I am from Gardner, Massachusetts. It was 40 something this morning. Just seem so cold and couldn't get warm. I know it will get colder, though. So not looking forward to minus degree temperatures and that 4 letter word I won't mention. There are other things I do besides shredding so, I know I am getting in enough. I love to vary up my routines. It keeps you stimulated and shocks your body to make a change. Good luck!

Thanks april_mesk  I agree that as long as I'm seeing progress, whether it's measurements or lbs, I'm happy. slow and steady.

    To everyone,
I think we're all doing great. No one here is a slacker. We're all making positive changes and improving our health. I started feeling like a slacker when I was sick over the weekend, but then I reminded myself that taking a few days off to recover was not going to cause me to gain back the 44 lbs I've lost so far. I'm taking today off too because my cold is lingering and I feel worn out today :frown: , but I'm not going to feel guilty about it.

It's cold and rainy in Pennsylvania too. I think our high today was in the low 50s. As for that 4 letter word... I love it!! I work in a local school district and I :heart:love:heart: snow days!!! I can live without the sub-zero temperatures though.

    Happy Shredding, everyone!!! :drinker:

day 6 of level 2 (day 25 overall!)... i am really starting to be able to feel the results in my core - all the plank pose is killer but apparently it really pays off! it really is just my shoulders that i feel cant catch up to the intensity... maybe soon? i am still doing everything with anita, so i know i have a long ways to go on level 2 before i am going stuff with natalie.

However.... I lost 3 pounds in the past week and a half officially ending my plateau! I am down from 151 to 148 and couldn't be happier :)

im in boston, so i feel your *cold* pain - lows in the 40s here, highs barely at 60 :( SOOOO not looking forward to that four letter word and the sub-zeroness... it already feel cold!!!

i also agree that everyone is doing awesome! we all progress at our own rates, its not a competition at all. each of us has different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to our personal fitness level, and we have to work from there. also, life is time consuming - don't beat yourself up for taking a day off to be with your family! when it comes down to it, that is super important too. The fact that we have all made a conscience decision to be healthier and more fit is great all by itself!

    Good morning!

Last night, I didn't do any "traditional" exercising, but I was moving nonetheless. I played three games of Wii bowling with my family and then two rounds of Wii boxing with my sister....we were sweating after that!

Then, I did something I haven't done in years...I hula hooped! It was harder than I remembered it being but surprisingly, it didn't take long to get back in the swing of it. I can't wait to do some more with my HRM on to see how many calories it burns. I've seen several claims that it burns 100 calories for every 10 minutes you do it. How great would that be??

    Happy exercising!

hey you level 3ers - what is targeted in that workout? and how does it compare to level 2?

Level 3 does a lot of strength training in the cardio workouts too. I think all the moves target the core the most. I like it! Level 2 seems to make me more out of breath but level 3 just hurts all my muscles. I took yesterday off, on wednesday I just did level 2 and my lower back was sooo painful I couldn't walk afterwards. The pain seems to be coming from my glute muscles which may be sooo tight from the jumps at the end of level 3. So I took a rest day yesterday and I am going to try to shred today because it does help if I keep moving. Good luck to everyone this weekend. It is freezing in Chicago too so I will warm up with a workout!!!

it is freezing here in chicago indeed.

Wow, Ive fallen so far behind you people are on level 3 already?
I think as soon as I kick this cold and Im not exhausted allll the time Im gonna have to start my shredding again. I think I may jump right into level 2 and see how it works out.

Too bad my new meds warn you that you may pass out while exercising or get nauseous. Laaaame.

JoviAllTogether~ whoa be careful with excercising then on those meds! Jump in whenever your ready, go at your own pace and go slow or else you might quit right away if it is too much. We will be here for you to cheer you on!
Shredded Level 2 and 3 just now and I am definetly not freezing anymore! My back feels great and I'm glad I took a rest day yesterday because I was able to give it 100%! Happy weekend all! :drinker:
