As Vlad Tepes (or his evil alter ego) was reputed to have said...."I don't drink.........wine!"

I'm not a huge drinker, I will more often than not be the designated driver if we're all going out (yes, this is probably why my friends keep me around LOL). But out of all of them, I have the most fun :).

    Did Jesus drink wine?

I am a 27 yr. old Christian young lady and because of my faith, I have never had a drop of alcohol in my life and I strongly believe one should stay away from the stuff.

    High Five!

    :drinker:
As a regular drinker (see earlier post about real ale), it strikes me as odd that a few commenters don't seem to recognise that most people just have a couple of drinks and enjoy them, and then stop, just like most people eat a slice or two of pizza or a single serving of ice cream and then stop. Obviously, there are quite a few people on here who can’t stop at just a single serving of pizza (me included) or else they wouldn’t be here, but it does strike me as an unbalanced attitude to take a moral high ground over what is for the majority of people just a pleasant occasional indulgence.

Most people who drink are not raging alcoholics or act like drunk teenagers.......... Sure, some are. THAT is a problem. Having a drink here and there, is not.

I'm trying to think here. What did Jesus turn water into? Dang it, it's on the tip of my tongue. . .

    Oh right.

    He turned water into WINE!

This is so passive aggressive it's making me gag.

I live my life free of Scientology but I do partake in the group Anonomyous on occasion. I do it because some of my friends don't like Tom Cruise and they pressure me to join their mask wearing rallies so once in a while I give in. Peer pressure is a *****!
Are you passive-aggressively criticizing the passive aggressiveness of this thread?

Kudos for the Anon/Scientology reference. I do hope your gagging stops.

I might be but, if I was I wouldn't tell you directly. Bless your heart, that would be too DIRECT.

I regard myself as t-total, however, I do like to have a drink or two once in a while.

I would probably drink a little more often if I went out socialising or drinking with someone who knew when enough was enough.

Part of the reason I don't drink particularly, is because my natural mum was an alcoholic and I've also seen a number of close friends and relatives suffer as a result of a drinking problem.

When I met my ex, I quickly found that he had a problem too, as every other day he'd down a couple of bottles of wine and have the music full blast in the house - how the neighbours didn't complain is beyond me. I used to retreat to another room at the time, as it was so often that it would just drain the life out of me - moreso, because it changed his personality when he'd had a drink. More flamboyant, defensive and argumentative etc etc.

I'm pleased to say that these days he hardly drinks, in fact he certainly cannot drink as much as he used to without it going unnoticed. He only needs upto three pints before I know that he's had a few. Before he could down a good bottle and half and a number of pints AND still be coherent! Frightening.

But yeah, when I have a drink, I make the most of it and definately have a good time, simply because I don't drink that often. Occasionally I might get A drink if I feel that way out, but otherwise I don't.

Nope :) Very happy to have never drank. My dad is an alcoholic and it breaks my heart that he has that holding him back. Once he understands that he is the only one entangling himself in these webs and begins to stop blaming people for everything wrong in his life, I think that he'll be able to grow stronger and overcome the habit.

I'm almost 41, have not had a drink yet and don't plan on ever having one. I have no desire to have alcohol and don't need it. If others want drink, that's fine with me as long as they aren't driving.

I strongly believe in personal responsibility and that all drugs should be legal for adult people who can make life choices and day to day decisions for themselves. I also believe that addiction is in a person, not in a drug. There are drugs that are very physically addictive, deadly (and legal- like nicotine- politics, money, greed)... and there are drugs that are not physically addictive but present a challenge for those people who struggle with addiction in general.
People who struggle with addiction can be addicted to anything: food, sex, drugs, gambling, exercising, video games, romance novels, ebay, water... yes, even water- it will get you high if you drink too much.
Now excuse me while I light this.....

    Jesus drank wine.

    Just sayin'.

    Oh, and btw, I am a church-going, Jesus-loving Christian.

    Self-righteousness isn't very pretty.
