I'm reading them on the sneak in e-book form. haha. It's addicting, yet crappy because the story line is practically IDENTICAL to fricken Twilight. And I've read better sexy times.
It started out as Twilight fan fiction, hence the similarities0 -
I see this book the same way I see all romance novels.
IQ sucking black holes encouraging unhealthy perspectives on what relationships should be.
They pass the time on the daily commute..
Don't need to focus on a storyline.

My wifes read the first 2 and is on the third now - she too really likes them and says the story and characters are really good.0

LOL. Awesome.0 -
I've enjoyed the books. I'm on book 3.........however, this You Tube clip is hysterical!0 -
So BAD0

Maybe after only being able to get through 12 chapters doesn't give me much of a right to say, but it's awful. What happens between them in real life would be considered abuse. Ana didn't even want what was happening, but gave in because he was good at sex and attractive and rich. And oh, does she change him by the end of the series? Good for her. Too bad that'd never happen either. A dull story. Awfully written. And a rip off, mind you, being those characters were originally Bella and Edward from Twilight. Can't believe people support that she pretty much stole characters, lol.0

lololololol are these actual excerpts from this book that everybody's going crazy about?0 -
Frickin LOVE that series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!0

Loved the books, loved the sex, loved the story. All in all, a great read!0

The books are terrible, in my opinion. But addictive. The author knows how to make you want to keep reading. However, Grey as a character is horrible. I don't really understand how all the girls are like, "Ooo Greeeyyy. So dreamy and perfect!" Okay, handsome and rich I get, but also controlling with a crap ton of baggage, and kind of a suffocating jerk. I'm not sure how that's appealing at all. Also Ana always gives into to everything, despite her being a "different sort of character who will stand her ground".
Ana had the potential to being a really cool character, until she kept giving into everything just because he sexed her and gave her googly eyes. Geez, it's just kind of demeaning.
Edit: Also, I might be the only female in the world who has read this and thinks this way. Feel free to disagree with me, this is just my two cents.
Nope I totally agree. I could have done without so much sex. I didn't understand why being with a controlling jerkwad was so great. I think the last book was the best though, there was more of a storyline.
I agree with the above, ladies.0 -
I've read the first two.. I couldn't stand the CRAP every other line.. =| the writing wasn't good at all! The story was unrealistic. BUT if the 3rd book fell into my lap, I'd read it. For a SEX novel.. I'd expect her to say 'Oh *kitten*' instead of 'oh crap'...0

They pass the time on the daily commute..
Don't need to focus on a complicated storyline.the underlying story was gripping and the devotion and love between the main characters made me wish my boyfriend (who is wonderful) was more like Mr Grey...
now Im confused again.0 -
For all those who didn't know this started out as a Twilight fanfic on a fanfic website... she got a lot of positive feedback and changed the characters names and a few details to make it an "original work".
Its awful. Just awful.
I'm not saying that people can't enjoy it, or that its not fun. I am saying that is extremely poorly written, and unoriginal. It's the book equivalent of jersey shore or I don't know real housewives of whatever. It's fluff, popcorn. Not literature.
I don't mean to offend anyone who likes the books, I just don't understand the craze. Such a poorly written book. Minus the sex, a 10 year old could have written it.0 -

^^YEP- my 2 cents exactly! I don't see the comparrison to Twilight AT ALL, but I've heard this several times. To me- they are COMPLETELY different. Just my opinion....0 -
The main difference between genders......
Men watch porn....
Women read it while scolding men for watching....
I joke, I joke...:p0 -

I agree with you as well. I did not find myself swooning over this Mr. Grey. I just kept thinking he had too much baggage that I wouldn't wanna deal with as well as be under all his controlling issues. She does give into everything, but I guess it's because the author wants us to believe in this "Love Conquers All." To me, it's mostly a romance novel, which I'm not into at all.
As far as all the SEX, I was not into it most of the time because I'm not really into that type of sex. I skipped some of those parts and kept thinking, "who really does it that often." If you can prove me wrong, then I applaud you!
Oh, and I did not like her writing style AT ALL. A lot of it was corny...........0 -

Agree agree agreeeeeeee!!!
Plus I think the books were just so repetitive! There were parts where I just skipped ahead 10 or so pages and didn't miss a thing! LoL!0 -
I'd give them a go just to see what the hype is about....and I'm curious about these "amazing sex" stories.. But I'm a perv, so this is all expected of me.0
