    Ha! I'm most like someone from India apparently. I do like Indian food, dammit I WANT Indian food.

    well... that isn't what I wanted to see... I'm going to have to call a suicide hotline... but not until I find out where Tonga is... apparently that's where really fat women in my age range live!!! Just kidding about the Suicide hotline!

    How can you calculate body fat percentage based on sex, age, height and weight. Complete rubbish! The BBC should know better.

    They are not calculating body fat percentage. They are calculating BMI (Body Mass Index) . The BMI scale has its flaws as we all know. ie a heavily muscled person also has a high BMI. However, for the most part it is a reasonable estimate of size, and typical body fat percentage.

    It's supposed to fun and interesting:)

    I totally agree!! and I also think what it tells you is highly irresponsible, given that teenagers and people who might be susceptible to developing eating disorders will read it. Even lots of adults who can take stuff like that with a pinch of salt are finding it depressing. I can laugh at it now (mostly because I know that BMI is a load of rubbish), but at age 15....? It's potentially very triggering, and it also reinforces a wrong mindset (i.e. weigh less = better, rather than aiming for better body composition)

    Agreed, so we have a global obesity epidemic thats a HUGE deal and my 31 BMI is higher than 98% of females in the world.....the media overblowing something? SHOCKING

    Ouch. Ok.. the problem though is there is a huge difference between a 15 year old and 29 year old. When I was 15 I ate whatever I wanted and weighed 115 (at about the same height, maybe a tiny bit shorter). So comparing 15 year old me to 25 year old me is.. stupid really.

    Cambodia - lower BMI than 88% women my age in the US. My problem is that it's ALL in the belly, making clothes fit very awkwardly.

    I could hug you guys who also discovered that they seem to be the fattest person on the planet (assuming I could get my giant whale flippers around you)!

    I think all us giants should move to Tonga and see if we can knock the planet off it's axis and change direction with our giant booty powers (closer to the sun for anyone else in Britain who feels like they're drowning in rain).

    BTW I clearly have more knowledge of pies than astrophysics :tongue:

    Haha, I tried to enter my height, and it put my feet and inches in the same box (53 feet). I was freaking out trying to figure out how i had a 0 BMI...apparently VIetnam is the lowest though, bc that's what it gave me for the oops!
