    Hey everyone.

Was gonna do the gym this morning but am going to take today off (perhaps running tomorrow or Sunday as I am going to be away from my home gym).

Can I just say, that I want an effing fast food sandwich? It sucks. I mean I have enough will power (I reallllly hope) that I can just wave my hand and say no thanks. But MAN....MAAAAAAANNNN.

I really hope that I can make sure that I am eating well this weekend. It's kind of hard when I go to my friends' homes (1.5 hours away) because they just buy crap to eat. Always eating out. Blah.

    Here's to a hump weekend yeah? :D

Good luck to you all as well.

Oh, I know what you mean about a fast food sandwich! I have been craving a crispy chicken sandwich at McDonald's lol. But I've resisted and will continue to do so :) gum really helps me!

Jeannie - you must be pretty well recovered if you're doing a 5 mile walk tomorrow! Hope you have a great time and you heal quickly (if you're not already all better)!

Courtney - congrats on getting the permanent full-time job! That must be such a relief... I can't imagine being out of work right now - My company was laying people off and I was panicked at the thought of having to look for another job in this economy. (Thankfully I'm still employed...)

I ended up going for the raspberry cider instead of wine - wine would've been healthier, but I'm going to the gym and will work the cider off.

Ok... off to the gym and then I have to buckle down and work on a project for school. What an exciting Friday night.

Jeannie - Good Luck on that walk...I did something like that a while ago and would love to do it again....

Tiff - I hope you had a great time working out and doing that project on a Friday night.

Courtney - Congrats on the Full Time Job!!!! I need one as soon as school is over....which should be in another 5 months.

Today im up early and looking at some paperwork and then heading to the gym, I am taking a hard kickboxing class at 9:45 am and then a Body Works Class right after that....I am really going to try and go to both....I dont know why but I am so scared of Kickboxing...I have tried it with this trainer twice and I almost died both times..lol....so thats 2 hrs and 15 mins of exercise and only a 15 mins break in the middle....so i cant forget my protein bar

Also today I have to go to a 1yr old bday party....lots of yummy food....I will def. try to avoid somethings but im being realistic and will eat some "bad" things tooo

    Good morning everyone!!

Anu - Good luck on your workouts and willpower at your bday party!

I did weight loss for yoga and bootcamp this morning and I LOVED THEM! Definitely got a great workout. I personally like Bob as the instructor better than Jillian. I have some school work to do and some cleaning later. Going to be a pretty laid back weekend!

Oh! Also had 1/2 cup of arils, the pomegranate seeds this morning they are so yummy!

Day 2 of the Shred and I'm feeling good  ! It's probably in my head but I swear that I could do more today than I could yesterday

Courtney - I'm excited to hear how you like the yoga and the bootcamp - hadn't heard about the bootcamp before. And CONGRATULATIONS on the job!!! I was unemployed for awhile a year and a half ago and I know how frustrating, stressful and depressing it can be to try and find work - especially in Michigan! Cheers to you! :drinker:

Jeannie - that's so awesome that you are doing the walk for breast cancer - kudos to you!

Anu - sounds like you've got quite the morning planned for yourself! Kick butt!

Tiff - I'm drooling over the thought of raspberry cider and it's only 9:00 a.m.

    have a GREAT Saturday everyone!!!

Good morning all! I feel a bit lost today, I had to take my little one to my aunts last night since my husband and I both work this morning and my aunt lives an hour away... I hate it! The house feels so empty an I fought off tears most of the way home.. I'm such a baby! But I'm very excited, we sign the lease for a house today! We can actually have a real sized tree for my daughers first Christmas and have her 1st birthday party there!! Yay! So needless to say I slept in instead of getting up to work out.. but I have about 1 1/2 hours between work and the signing so I'm gonna hop on the eliptcal.

Jeannie-I'll be thinking of you! I've always wanted to do a walk for a cause ... it's a wonderful thing!

Courtney-Congrats!! It's a great feeling and a HUGE amount of stress off your shoulders once you finally get that job, especially in your field!

PS I had spaghetti squash last night in some tomato sauce.. talk about yum! I think perhaps I need to eat more squash, it just never comes to mind when I plan meals.

Have a great weekend yall! Hopefully the weather will be nice for ya, b/c here is another gloomy WI day.

Jessica - I know how you feel in regards to your daughter! I feel the same way every time my kids stay the night at my parents' house. They are 5 and 6 now, so I'm pretty used to it, and I usually just get cleaning done or RELAX lol. Have a good day at work!

Sara - Awesome job on the Shred! Keep it up!! :flowerforyou:

I'm supposed to be doing homework but I keep coming back here! lol. I think I am going to go watch a show or two that I DVR'd this week.. :ohwell:

It's amazing to read all of the postive things that are going one right now

Tiff...great will-power on only having 1 cider...I would have been like I'll take the bottle of wine...LOL

Courtney....yea, a job....I used to work in a nursing home as an aide, you will grow very attached to the residents...they are so sweet and have wonderful stories

Jeannie...What a powerful feeling that is going to come with that walk, the solidarity of so many people coming together can really trigger emotions

Anu...great choices yesterday....continue to stick with the plan today...no wonder your afraid of the kick-boxing, sounds brutal

Sara...your starting out great, I might do the shred 1 today before work

I had a rough night at work yesterday, busy, busy, busy. I had to stay late to do charting and all my patients were so sick and busy. I didn't get home till 12:30. I was DYING for cold beer (well, several to be accurate) when I got home and my tummy was growling.

So, I checked MFP to see who was doing what. I looked at how many cals and fat grams were left. Then Tiff actually inspired me with his one cider which was budgeted for. I opened the fridge......suspense.....and then closed it.

You all are a great inspiration and support system...I am actually looking forward to the weigh-in on Monday.

Nice job Kim!!! Willpower!! :drinker: I LOVED working in a nursing home! I did that for a few months, then it burned down and they never rebuilt  But this is home health care, which will still be equally awesome!

My mom called and wants to pick me up in 15 min to take me to lunch for my Bday tomorrow..chinese food! I'm not sure what to get as the menu has no nutrition facts, but I think I will get chicken and broccoli or something to that effect..maybe chow mein? I just don't know! lol

Welcome Rob!!! Great to have more members in our group every day! Congrats on the weight loss and cigarette free days!! :drinker:

    Happy Birthday to you!!!!

Thanks, you guys help me have will power!!!!! I put the scale away on Tuesday. I want to be surprised on Monday. I think it helps not to weight everyday. I was psycho about it!!!

Home Health Care is much better than a nursing home...only 1 patient at a time...you seem perfect for it and I bet that's why they selected you

Chicken or shrimp would be good choices....I have heard that you can ask them not to cook in oil or add extra salt...I don't know if that would work; but, you could try

So, I figured out my meals for the deal...going to face Jillian now...then, off to work and hopefully it will be a better night

I mixed all these up with this stick-mixer thing I have and it was a tangy, creamy sauce. I used all of what I made but it probably could have been split between 2 if you didn't want a lot of sauce on each serving. Here is the nutrition info:

I'm finding that I enjoy experimenting like this, especially when it turns out good!

I about died of laughter reading about the the stick-mixer thing....LOL...your going to be a food network star, keep experimenting

Haha - glad I made you laugh! To be more specific is is a "hand-held blender" but I didn't have the box out at the time and wasn't sure what the technical name was. It's a pretty handy little device!

    ---

So everyone inspired me with all this talk over the various workout DVDs and I went to the store a bought a couple of them. Although I do belog to a gym, I figure that on the nights I feel like I'm too busy to go to the gym (or I don't want to go for whatever reason) I can pop one of these in and do a 30 min or so workout.

I did 30 min. on the elliptical last night - wanted to go for 45, but my right calf started cramping up :grumble: Decided to call it a night at that point. Next time I'll have to make sure I stretch better before hand.

Ok - well it's almost 11 and I haven't had breakfast - I just got up about 30 min ago. DIdn't mean to sleep in that long but my bed was ohhhh so warm and comfy. I'm going to go scrounge up some breakfast and I guess I'll just have a later lunch and later dinner today. If I don't get 3 meals in it will be really hard to make 1200 calories.

    Hey Kim,

I just got back. It took me 1 hour and 18 minutes to complete the 6.2 miles. This is the first time I have ever ran a distance of this length and I am happy I finished it!!! According to my IPod Touch and Nike+ App, I burned off 1,149 Calories!

    Woo hoo!!!

Tiff - I learned the hard way about stretching a few months ago! They say only warm up with a few minutes of light cardio and light stretching before hand and get into deeper stretches after your workout when your muscles are warmed up!

I ended up with chicken and broccoli, I asked them to make it with light sauce and they don't add MSG to anything. I also gave away my crab ragoons and had white rice, not fried! I have no idea how many calories it was..

Also took my kids to the move, Astro Boy, they loved it!!!! I did have some popcorn there..I figured I could splurge a little today since I've been good and worked out and burned quite a few calories this morning and will probably do a leslie sansone video later!

Glad I burnt a ton of calories today. We're heading to a birthday party at a Tapas Bar and based on their menu, I have NO CLUE on what I am going to get. I've never been there before so it's going to be an interesting experience.

They do have personal pizzas which you can build your own, so I am thinking that may be a somewhat good choice.

    Who knows!!!

I picked up some vita-muffin tops from frozen food section today - Deep Chocolate flavor, 100 cal each, has fiber and protein. Tried one and it was delicious!!

I'm really excited about dinner tonight. I'm going to try cooking a spaghetti squash for the 1st time. I'm having it with turkey and mushroom spaghetti sauce, along with a yummy salad. I'm proud of myself - I went grocery shopping and stuck to what was on my list. Bought healthy foods for meals. Hopefully it'll last about 2 weeks, other than having to get some new veggies and fruit next weekend. I always thought that buying healthy food would be super expensive, but I've found the opposite - before I'd spend $175 stocking up on groceries, but now I'd estimate I'm only spending about $100 on the same time-period's worth of food. All that fruit and veggies really aren't expensive as long as you're not buying all organic.

Oh, and I even got a work-out afterwards when I had to make 4 trips up and down to my 3rd floor apartment to get all the groceries inside!

I spend less now too! I normally would buy about $80-90/week in groceries. Now I spend like $50-60! I love it!
  • I am in the same boat. Graduate May 2010 and I will like to lose the weight before then. I just need directions and most of all motivation.

Today i made a delicious meal out of (1 cup) Beef Oven Roast and 1 cup of green giants broccoli and carrots with herbs & garlic and it was delcious. If i'm not mistaken It totaled 400 calories and very filling.

You know what I noticed...my trips to the store are cheaper & faster cause I don't go down each aisle like before...I am not going near the cookies, chips, pop or processed foods...IN and OUT...it's fresh, frozen, meat and out the door

Plus, we are not eating out as much cause it's soooo hard to not get tripped up...saving money there too...means that I am eating everything in the house so that it doesn't get spoiled.

I just finished my dinner... soooooo good! I've always been a little weary of squash, but the spaghetti squash was WONDERFUL! It really filled me up too. I've got tons leftover for meals over the next few days (Probably 3 or 4 full meals worth) - yay! This was a great substitution for pasta, and so much lower in calories/fat, etc. Only problem now is that it filled me up so much - Will probably have to have a snack in a little bit once my food has settled so that I'll reach 1200 cal for the day.

    Alright. Crisis adverted.

Went out tonight and had a Green Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette on the side with a small Mahi Mahi Steak and a couple of Pita Chips with about 2 tablespoons of fresh hummus with about 10 grapes for dessert! I would guesstimate about 450 calories. Not too bad for a night out!

One more day until weigh-in! You guys stay focused and keep on pushing it! We'll get there!
