I would love to do this, too! I do a cardio pump (cardio and weights) class 2x per week. Then i do 2 days of 35-40 mins. of cardio on a the elliptical and stairmaster. I will add another day and step it up to do this. As you know, I am also in a size 12 and would really be thrilled to be in a 10 once the holidays roll around!! We can do this:)

welcome heather! 5lbs in 1 wk? wow thats great!!!
i've been at this for 3 wks and only lost 4lbs. but thats good enough for me. this wk I'll just try harder!

what's ur diet and exercise routine?
  • Thanks!! I was pretty shocked myself, but I have a feeling it was just because I had been eating so bad before...I am sure it wont be that much next time, but you never know:)

To be honest, I really didn't have a routine this past week. I was surprised that the calorie calculator had me eating like 46 grams of fat and 1450 calories. I used to think I needed to eat WAY less to lose the weight.

I saw that you mentioned something about greek yogurt in a post earlier today, I eat that every morning for breakfast. I get the kind that has a little fruit cup with it. It's really good. I also eat either a whole wheat turkey bacon breakfast sandwich or an organic peanut butter bar that is very filling. I try to eat sensable at lunch, but I do still go out to lunch most of the time. Drink lots of water, but I have even had sweet tea a few times (gotta quit that tho...grrr!!!) and diet coke. Then for dinner I was so busy this week that I either ate a santa fe chicken salad from Sonic or a meal in a box.

Hopefully this week I will have more time to prepare some meals and add in some cardio. I ran up and down the stairs today for like 15 minutes and I was so out of breath!! I figure that has to be better than nothing. I want to get back into classes at the gym, but my work schedule is kind of messing that up for the next few weeks, so I will just have to make do.

I am excited though, so I am ready to try.

Today i am going to do 40 minutes of cardio: 20/stairmaster and 20/elliptical. That's 5 minutes more than usual. Are you guys doing any cardio today?

hey Linz! I got my Cardio in already went to boot camp this morning cuz I missed yesterday. 1hr @ a wopping 600 cals! I love it. Only downfall is I get famished for breakfast and eat a lot. But my cals go up to 1800 anyways. Usually I try to still stay under tho.
20 mins on the stairmaster? Damn u are good I almost had a heart attack after 10! Great job tho!

Yeah, my Cardio Pump class worked us hard today! We focused on legs and butt today. I will probably be sore tomorrow, but it feels good! I think I'll just do cardio tomorrow, maybe some abs.

okay i'm definately in. i'm in a 12 right now to and would love to fit into a 10. I bought a pair of jeans the other day that were on sale and a size11. I can get them on but I had to do the wiggle jiggle jean dance ( you know what I mean!) okay keep laughin  I could almost barely kinda sorta button them but I'm far from going to see what they look like in a mirror sort of jeans.
They are cute but I'd like to throw them out sooner then later if you know what I mean. They were only a $7 bargain from target so i'm really hoping to get to an 8 eventually.

Anyway, would love to join. I just had a terrible week being off track and visiting family so I need to get my butt in gear. I did go to the gym today & then ran with my ds at his track meet today but boy did i get my @ss handed to me by a bunch of 6 year olds! :grumble:

I need to find a happy medium between the gym and my food. I always seem to have work out calories I need to eat but i'm not hungry to actually really want anything. So I cave and end up going for the m&m's or the apple pie my mom and I made while she was here. i'm struggling with that tonight. I have 400 calories to eat and I don't know what to have...maybe some yogurt??then what??

WELCOME! i too have many jeans I have bought in size 10 so unless I want them to go to waste I need to start losing NOW. I got some cute jeans from the GAP for about $10 and they look so cute. I haven't even tried to get into them cuz my thighs and butt were so big at the time. Anyhoo, about the exercise cals, I have heard many arguments for and against it. I know someone who has lost about 17lbs and doesnt eat them. But everyone is different. I use my exercise cals badly too so i rather not eat them sometimes. Yesterday I had about 300 left over but thats ok. I was full and cudnt eat anymore. Well I hope we make it to the big 1-0 soon!

    We can do this.
What's ur diet and exercise routine?

Count me in !!!!! I love the fact that we are all in the same boat . Im so frustrated ive been on 1200 cals a day for over a week exercise 4 time cardio for 2 hours and grrrrrrr stepped on the scale today to find I actually went from 171 to 172.8 . I swear if I wouldn't have been freaked out about killing someone below the scale would have went flying over the balcony :) . I have seen a few post of ppl eating 1400-1500 and losing . Think im gonna give this a try after all nothing to lose . We can do this or die trying LOL !!!!

nolachick- I've been doing the 30 day shred although after vfisiting family I havent' done it in about 2 weeks. I also go on a 2 mile walk everyday sometimes twice a day depending on the weather. And I make it to the gym about 2x a week. Not as much as I like but I can't afford the child care they have all the time so I make due at my house with my tredmil.

Thats about it in a nutshell, i'm at a loss on what to do with my food. I've been eating fairly well, a cheat day every now and then but nothing crazy. I workout 5 days a week and I haven't really lost anything. At first I wasn't eating my workout calories so someone suggested I was in starvation mode. So the last few weeks i've been eating them and still nothing. granted I haven't worked out that much with family visiting to really need to eat any but when I have worked out i've definately eaten them.
Last night I settled with yogurt and cashews to make sure I get in most of the 400 I still had left for the day. I get in 90% of my water on a daily basis so if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to comment. I have considered going to the doctor because I have been feeling very tired and sluggish a lot, but I just don't know if this warrants a visit or not. I went about 2 years ago the last time i tried loosing and all they wanted was to prescribe diet pills :noway: and eventually I gave up on weight loss and now i'm back at square one..

    hey girls!! WELCOME :flowerforyou:

I am excited to have u on here and get more feed back from ppl in my situation. i love that we are all in the same boat! 170 is actually my goal weight (I'm at 186 right now)
(Which is weird that I'm a size 12 and u are too at 170. different body types I guess).

the first 2 wks I lost 2lbs/week and now tht i am working out more and eating less its not going anywhere. I hate the scale. lol.
hmm JOCELYNE i'm not sure that u shud be seeing spots, that doesnt sound good. but hey if u have worked out for the day then u can definately have over 1200 cals.
The first 2 wks that I lose is when I ate the most (1600 cals on workout days)....So maybe we shud eat more of the good stuff on exercise days.

I'm totally IN! I am a size 12 and really really really wanting to get down to a size 10. Lately I'm noticing that the scale isn't changing as much as my pants are getting more loose. This is a good thing, I hope! I've been running about 40 minutes a day, doing intervals on the treadmill. I loved working outside so much better. Not having to look at the sweaty people next to me, and the one right in front of me! Haha! Pretty sure I nickname myself Sweaty-Betty these days. I'm hoping the weight and the pant size will start to drop! Yippie!

Is anyone else seeing that they are maybe feeling better in their clothes, but its not reflecting on the scale as much? Its really frustrating because I want to be LIGHTER! But, I figure, if I can get into the size 10...I must be doing something right!!

me me me! I was so pissed last saturday cuz I didnt lose an ounce, but a lot of my clothes were actually zipping up and buttoning up without cutting off my circulation. So you are right, it is more important to fit into the clothes u want to than what a scale says. Weight really is just a number but ur clothing size goes with u everywhere haha. I hate going shopping with my friend who is a size 2. and I pick out a size 12...rrrrrr haha

    Here's to size 10 in 9 weeks!:drinker:
  • I am in a size 12 now also and about 160 pounds... I want to be back in my size 10's and some 8 or 9's and around 142- 145 pounds. I AT LEAST want my jeans to fit somewhat comfortably and not have to wear a t shirt with them to hide the pudge that I have on top of them by Christmas when I go see family and some friends that I haven't seen in about 6 years or so.. The bad part is that one of the main reasons I am so excited to go is because of the food, I grew up in New Mexico and miss my Mexican food and green chili so bad I can taste it.. I don't want to go there and gain even more weight and have to struggle even harder when I come back home if I haven't already started working towards my goal. I can go to the gym and jog while I'm there and watch my portions and shouldn't do toooo terrible but I am just afraid of total sabatoge. I have just about 2 months to get the jeans up over my butt and buttoned without the pudge.. I got new running shoes I want to try out too but it has been raining here it seems like forever lately so I get ready and it's a monsoon outside! UGH... I guess just to the gym and deal with getting wet outside.. yuck! No more excuses... Eating smaller portions, better food, not after 8pm... REGARDLESS!! Doing cardio at least 35 minutes or 400 calories 4 or 5 times a week, power pump class Monday and Wednesday ( cardio/ strength training) and Zumba on Wednesday also... The b/f is a trainer and has a degree in exercise science so he says were going to start doing 300+ crunches a night and get our beach bodies back before he goes to meet my dad in Florida in May- ish.... Wish me luck!! Any suggestions would be awesome!! I just have to tell you that I was really excited when I read this because I felt like it was me right there and right on the same time frame!! YAY!! I love MFP... I just have to make myself do the work now.. Here goes the hard part.. lol

Heather: I know what you mean. I'm going home for Christmas too, and that is one of my fears. But, last year when I went home I had some success. The main thing is I didn't want to exclude myself from eating the foods I loved and grew up with. Granted some of them aren't the healthiest, but I wanted to make sure I got a taste! I ate in moderation and made sure to do some sort of exercise during the day. Whether it was something like a Turbo Jam video, running, anything to keep my body moving for at least 20 minutes during the day. My goal was to NOT gain weight, and it worked! I also stocked up my mom's fridge with some veggies & fruits for snacking when everyone else was having nachos or ice cream or something that I COULD live without. Good Luck to you!! I hope I can go through the Thanksgiving holidays as well as the Christmas & New Years holidays without going off track.

I actually read somewhere that it only takes 3 days to get out of shape and into unhealthy habits, and it takes 29 days to get into shape and into healthy habits. Remembering THAT really helps me not to get off track...at least for very long!!

Usually when you see spots that means that your blood pressure is high. Might want to get that tested

WOW... that really makes me think about a lot now, like that Dr. pepper that I want really bad but don't need and will spiral into more than it's not worth it and will make that 29 days keep on going.. I told myself about 3 months ago that I was going to start doing this and crack down and be so healthy and look awesome by the time I got there.... uh hmm... am yet to start so now I just have to keep that in the front of my mind... thank you so much for the words of wisdom, it helps a lot when someone has been in your shoes... It feels like all of us are all around there somewhere with one another.. just spread out all over the country/ world. It's pretty cool. Now it's balls to the wall!!!

Im just going to watch my portions while I'm there and if we go to eat for dinner save half and eat the rest for lunch the next day and so forth so that I'm not completely gorging myself and exercise, my grandma lives across the street from my old gym and an awesome park to jog around so it shouldn't be too bad, plus around all of the family I'm going to need all the alone time and stress relief I can get!!!... it helps a lot that my stepmom has little faith in me to exercise and not shove burritos down my throat like a crazy person while we're there... I'm gonna show her a thing or two!!

Enough ranting... I think Im actually getting excited about this whole thing... Strange... lol.. I need an elliptical at home and I would be teeny tiny... no need to get out in the rain then!!

I found my dvd on amazon for about $10, free super saver shipping to. It has 3 levels you can work up to and it really is helping. I have noticed my stamina is much better, and even though i'm not seeing the scale moving an inch. Atleast the tape measure has been my friend. I haven't measured in almost a month but after doing the video for 2 weeks I had lost an inch off my waist and about that on my thighs. My arms were down a half inch to! Haven't a clue where i'm at right now but i'm hoping to up my water intake the next few days before I weight in on sat. I'm retaining so much water this week (thanks aunt flo:grumble: ) maybe by this weekend i'll see the 160's!
