I certainly was self conscious because I was so fat at the beginning. Still am a little, and rarely shower there (do it at home right away), so I'm not in tre very long.

I'm okay with it, when it's necessary. The nudity in between changing from one thing to another, or going to/coming out of the shower is fine. It's the excessive ones that stay nude for substantial amounts of time and just seem to... hang out like that... THAT bothers me a bit. No, you don't have to stand totally in the buff in front of the mirror while you blow-dry your hair for 20 minutes. No, you don't have to sit your bare as on the change room bench and just stare into space for several minutes, or chat with a friend.

I do feel uncomfortable about my own nudity sometimes, at the local pool change room. It's when there are little girls going in there to change, without their guardian. I'm just wary of seeming like a perv around any kids, because some look uncomfortable around naked "old" ladies... while others are completely oblivious to it and will interact with you. I've had a girl of about 9-10 just come up to me and ask me if I could figure out how to tie her slightly complicated swimsuit top for her, and I was topless. Had to excuse myself for a second to throw my towel around my neck and cover the girls. I just never know the parents' stance on the nudity, and everyone is more cautious these days about looking like a paedophile. That said, there IS a "family" change room they could go to, as well as stalls in the change rooms, so I guess they could go that route if it were really a concern. I just like to err on the side of caution.

I don't parade around locker rooms in the altogether. But there will be moments where I am nude.....I cant get dressed holding a towel around me. If someone cant handle it, look toward your own locker.

definitely not my thing. a few days ago, i went into the (only) bathroom of the place i work (which is also awkwardly the locker room) and there was a maybe 70 year old lady standing there completely naked in nothing but sneakers. there wasn't anything necessarily weird about her appearance but for a moment it felt like i was looking at the naked lady from the shining :noway:

Don't come to the ladies locker room at my gym. One woman is a walking warning sign for a life void of any strength training. Like EVERYTHING sags and kinda grosses me out. And she seems to love to have naked conversations or stand in the mirror in bra & panties fixing her hair. Ugh!

I don't care if I get the inadvertent boob flash or what have you, but standing around BSing naked isn't cool.

I don't mind people being naked, but i have noticed the only people that get naked at the locker room are people completely out of shape.

I don't end up in a locker room very much but I'm a nudist! I try to go to a great nudist camp in NH every summer. I introduced my boyfriend to it this year and he was really nervous at first but eventually he was just loving it and niether of us wanted to put clothes on to go home! As much as I enjoy clothes, I think clothes are unnatural. And I always FEEL better without them!

I am okay with the nudity, it is the appropriate place for it and I can even shower in front of strangers (just can't do it with friends) but I am appalled by the amount of women I have come across that want to stand around naked and TALK. For the love of everything holy, I just want to wash my *kitten* and get dressed so I can get to work without having to look at another persons saggy maggy breasticles dangling around....ladies let's learn to speak without our hands flailing about wilding while unsupported. PLEASE!

I have never had ANY desire to blow dry my bush, either at a gym OR at home. But at least I always brought my OWN blow dryer.

DISGUSTING! How dare people be NUDE! In a LOCKER ROOM! I mean, god gave us Banana Republic so we wouldn't have to be naked!! Personally, I wear skin-colored spandex under all of my clothes so that when I need to change in a locker room, fitting room, or my bedroom, I don't have to expose my nasty, despicable human form to the air! The air doesn't want to touch that grossness!

Slightly off topic - but there is a woman who runs in my local park wearing skin colored biker shorts and tank tops!! :noway: :noway: :noway: :noway: from a distance it looks like she is running buck naked!! SO WEIRD!! I am used to seeing her now - so I know she's dressed but the first couple times :embarassed:

I always change in the privacy stalls. I dislike drying off and dressing in front of other people. I grew up with a bunch of sisters so never had any privacy...I just hate dressing around a bunch of women.

I suppose some of it comes from being an American. Just like we don't like ugly teeth, we don't like to see ugly bodies LOL. In a gym locker room you're going to see a lot of 'ugly' bodies. And old bodies...nature is not kind to the elderly human body.

LOL and why do the naked old ladies always want to talk to me?? one time I was getting my stuff out of my locker and this naked old lady approached me to talk. Ok fine, whatever. So we're chit-chatting when she leans in to look closer at my hair, and I swear I thought if one of her National Geographic-looking titties touched me I was going to scream!

This just proves how society (at least in the US) has made us insecure about being naked around other people. We came into the world naked and we'll go out naked! I do have to say I got some good laughs reading through this thread!
