Saturday success: I have pulled off 3 lbs this month so far, finally got into my size 18 favorite jeans (and they fit perfectly), and feeling more energetic all the time. I know that I have a long way to go, but MFP friends and groups help me to stay focused and encouraged. 104 pounds to get to my goal weight.of 140:happy:
Wishing everyone lots of successes!!0 -
Friday Fitness:: Well there hasn't been any really. Starting Monday I will start some kind of new routine. Not sure what. Something easy on the knees. Well walking and running doesn't bother it, neither does the elliptical but can't do the elliptical because some of my daughters Christmas gifts are in the room with the elliptical and no matter how early I get up and workout my little princess wakes up and comes and watches me and tries to work out too lol so I guess i will be doing some walking/running and might check in to buying a leslie sanson walking DVD..worth a shot I think. The Jillian Michaels DVDs I have just kill my knee. It's only my left one that hurts so I don't know what the issue is. But going to try and keep it from hurting.
And thank you everyone for the kind words and thoughts about my niece. I got to talk to her last night and it was great she talked to my daughter too and loved that. I am going to visit her tomorrow, she's still in the hospital not sure if she will be coming home tomorrow or Sunday but hopefully not any later than that. She is happy there but wants to come home. But going to visit her tomorrow. And next weekend is her birthday party at my parents and I'm going to make her tiger cupcakes But it's a surprise so I think she will be happy

Hello all - I've read all of the posts and there's a lot I'd like to give my opinion on, but pretty much someone else has probably already said something similar so I'll pass! I hope everyone has a successful weekend and that we avoid the eating mindfields that abound this season.
My victory for the week is I attended three holiday *eating* events and followed my plan. Nothing extra, not one thing. So that's it, I'm happy to move on. :blushing:

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you all are having a great weekend. I am being semi productive. I finally got the kitchen cleaned up all the way and have started chopping and roasting the ingrediants for my salsa. I tell you the smells in the house are awesome and make this smoothie seem a lot less saisfying then usual Oh well I have some nice country style ribs in the crockpot and homemade mac and cheese ready for the oven so the smoothie will have to do so I can enjoy my big plate of comfort food for dinner tonight  I have been looking at recipies the last couple of days. All the girls in the family will be getting together soon and we will be doing some holiday baking. I love baking day great company and lots of yummies. Well I need to get back to work so everyone have a great day and know I am wishing the best for all of you every day.:flowerforyou:0

back from my almost 3000 mile trip. i need to pull myself together and then i'll be ready to read what people have to say again and get back in the comment game. hope everyone is doing well.
Welcome back!! I know this was not the most ideal trip, but I'm glad you made it back safely. A lot of posts to catch up, but you'll get to it when you can. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.0 -
Saturday success: I really feel that I have my head around this weight loss journey. I'm not sure what has made the difference, but I definitely agree with those who have posted about the mental aspect of success. I am so grateful to feel in control!
Today I am going to go enjoy the local arts and crafts sale with my daughter. It is so fun to have her living here! Then she is going to help me take some measurements and I am going to make myself a couple of new blouses. I have a nice suit that is a light ecru, of dark winter white. I have worn it in the past in the spring and early summer. It fits me now so I am making a couple of darker blouses to wear with it for winter.
Have a fun day! Kaye
Kaye - I feel the same way. I'm not sure the difference either. I've been fighting this battle and had so many years of yo-yo dieting, but my mindset is different this time. I'm tracking like I'm supposed to, exercising on a regular basis, and actually losing weight. Imagine that? I'm in a good place too and it feels pretty good. Let's keep it up!!0 -

Congrats!! I haven't been in an 18 in so many years, but it will hapen one day. Good for you!! I'm been following MFP for 4 months and so glad to have found such supportive friends. We've got this!!!0 -
Saturday Success: Back to basics was really good for me. I've been following MFP for 4 months. I was very focused. Tracking every single day. Exercising 5-7 days per week. This month was a bit tough. Hit a little plateau and the scale just wasn't moving. Plus, I got sick for almost 2 weeks and exercise was null. Finally, this Monday I said enough and just refocused. It definitely is needed once in awhile. I feel much better. Got my hour walk in today and I'm really going to do this!!0

Hi everyone! I will do personals later tonight.
Saturday Success:
Feeling a lot more positive today--I think venting about family issues andwork has really helped so thanks for listening. Splet in a bit (until about 9 am) and feel refreshed. Garetie came for a visit and went through some clothes with me, then we went show shopping. Very productive b/c I finally found a new pair of work shoes that I like and are comfortable--I've been looking for about 3 years and in the meantime my old shoes have gotten so stretched out that they practically fall off my feet.
I also got a bit of house cleaing done--mainly just sweeping up all of gunner's fur and washing all of the throw rugs. It's still a mess, but at least it's not quite so dirty.
Had a nice lunch out with garetie at Corner Bakery. She was a good girl and got fruit with her combo--I got the cookie. :blushing: Just logged it and it was 300 calories--actually not as bad as I thought it would be (it was delicious!).
I didn't make it to the gym b/c I didn't have time before garetie came over, and my gym closes at 4 on Sat. so couldn't go afterward. However, I KNOW I will get there tomorrow for several reasons. 1. I went to starbucks and got some grading done so I don't have to worry about that tomorrow. 2. I'm really, really looking forward to going--feeling like my old self again when it comes to exercise. 3. I finally feel like I'm over all of the sinus and stomach issues I've been battling for the past few weeks.
Finally, weighed myself this morning and I'm still hovering around my lowest weight, so at least my slump over the past few weeks hasnt resulted in too much damage.
Exercise goals:
Mon--core work (I have a late meeting so there's no way I will be home to walk gunner before dark)--DONE!!!
Tues--run outside w/ gunner--DONE!!!
Wed--walk gunner DONE + core work (skipped this even after logging it, so I will do it tonight)
Thurs--walk gunner + gym OR run outside ALL I DID WAS WALK GUNNER
Fri--rest day
Sat--walk gunner DONE + gym NOT DONE
Sun--walk gunner + gym
Grading goals:
1. Re-read 1984 STARTED
2. 20/22 Create an ad assignments Almost DONE
3. x/11 AP analysis activities
4. 10/48 AP journal reflections
5. 22/22 Twelve Angry Men movie guides DONE0 -
@susan--Glad you are feeling back on track! It sounds like we've had a really similar past month or so.
@lin--great job staying on plan for those holiday events! :drinker: I have a few coming up and need to remember your good example.
@juner--congrats on getting back into the teens!!! :drinker: What a great milestone!
@angelika--good to hear your uncle is doing better. :flowerforyou:
@kaye--I envy your ability to sew. I have a creative mind, but no practical skills to back it up. As a teen, I tried to alter some clothes, but the end result was never what I imagined.
@toots--glad you made it home safely.
@kelley--Yeah--it's pretty frustrating. Basically, they are eliminating our lower level courses b/c they don't meet NCAA clearinghouse requirements. No one in our dept. is upset with the decision--we understand the need. However, apparently the administration has been discussing it for about a year, and felt NO need to inform the teachers, many of whom have been advising parents and students with the assumption that those classes would still exist next year. In addition, the math and science teachers are trying to fight the change so they got a year reprieve. Found out the social studies and English dept. chairs were given the same option and turned it down without even consulting the teachers. Even though we are okay with the change, it would have been nice to have another year to figure out how we will support all of the students. We will need to adjust our curriculum in all of the other levels b/c students will move up in every level. College Prep classes will have to accommodate the low level students, and as a result some of the CP students will move up to honors and honors to AP. We will all have students who are less prepared for each level and need more support. :ohwell: Congrats on the repeat of losses and finding something to wear without breaking the bank! Also, thanks for the encouragement to get to the gym!
@holly--Thanks! I already feel more positive today--it's amazing what some sleep and a day out with a friend can do for your mood. As far as the stress, I gave the details above in my @kelley, so you can see why I'm frustrated with my boss.
@queendeb--Welcome back!! Backslides happen--the important thing is that you came back! :flowerforyou:
@laurie--I love your reminder about deciding that 1 or 2 pieces is enough--I seem to have forgotten that lately. I eat a treat and then go back for more and more and more. Pretty soon, I find I've eaten hundreds of calories in tootsie rolls or "tastes" of donuts, cake, etc. You're right though, I know I can be happy with just a taste b/c I've done it in the past. I just need to remind myself of that when I reach for a extra helpings.

@toots - welcome back!!
@skinnyjeanz -- enjoy the gym tomorrow! glad to hear you're back to feeling better!
@holly - sorry the relationship isn't working out like you had hoped. as everyone said, it's your decision, but from the various posts, it seems that you know what you want to do. sorry, that's never easy.
@laurie - good luck with the new exercise plan and have fun at that class -- sounds great!
@kelley - hope you enjoyed the party! did you dance the night away?
@kaye and susan - glad it's clicking this time! for me, mfp takes the mystery out of weight loss... stay with it/see results, go off program/not so much... makes it much easier to persevere because it seems to work and because i'm still in the driver's seat, making my own food and exercise choices, rather than following some not-possible-to-stick-with-for-the-long-haul plan or gimmick...
@lin - great holiday eating! nice nsv (which may lead to a great sv)!
@june- nice scale and non-scale victories!! way to be reunited with the favorite jeans!
Well, I picked up a couple overnight shifts this weekend at my old job (I don't start the new one for another week), and I am definitely feeling the effects of that! I turned into a miserable, angry, three-headed, smoke-billowing-out-of-my-ears monster yesterday, but in my defense I was awake for over 28 hours, sigh. I hate how unbalanced I feel when I don't get sleep! This is a good reminder that I should do whatever I need to do -- mostly, reduce expenses -- to be able to leave these shifts behind for good! My Saturday Success is that I have tweaked my eating a bit, gotten back on program, and have come in under goal again more often than not. Hopefully, I will see some corresponding scale movement. With time ticking away, I am so close to my end-of-year goal... it would be such a great boost to achieve that!!!0 -
Good loss this week, 3.6#. More later. Kaye0
-
Happy Sunday, I have a feeling its going to be a rough day - too many cosmos plus 3 hours of sleep equals one heck of a headache this morning. Had a blast at the party, did a lot of dancing, but do regret the number of calories I consumed in alcohol. :ohwell: I hope I'll be able to take a nap before the session with my trainer this afternoon - very glad its a late afternoon session.0

@MrsChristaHug -- Welcome! I think the thing that is so special about this thread is that everyone is around for the long haul. It's a totally different thing to the people who just have a few pounds to lose. There's lots of people here who understand how hard it can be to live in a really big body.
@Tina -- good luck with the new exercise! I'd look after your knees and not do anything that stresses them unduly. And I hope your niece is well on the way to recovery.
@Christel -- oh, you've got a lot of exercise planned! Hope you love it all, but don't overdo it at the start.
@Robin -- As I've lost more, those mental demons are coming to the fore again. I'm now pretty much at the lowest weight I've been for ten years apart from when I was really sick. So I'm worried about getting sick again, and I'm worried that I'm going to derail over Christmas and not take any exercise and eat all the chocolate. I'm still noticing that all I have to do to start binging is put myself into an environment with binging-type food. And so on and so forth. I think I'll be a lot more content once the holidays are over and the whole world moves into diet-and-fitness mode rather than excess mode. I feel like I'm totally out of step with the world at the moment.
@Kelley -- I agree with you about planning and especially lifestyle. I keep thinking about our friends who tend to get together in pubs and sit around eating and drinking. A lot of those people are looking quite unwell these days as we all head into middle age. And by comparison, the people who get together in the park to go running, or the musicians who use lots of energy on stage, look relatively great. And they still have loads of fun, and they still fit in some of that food and drink -- the park runners go off for coffee or a hot breakfast afterwards, and the musicians will have a drink in between sets. But overall the lifestyle is a lot better. I don't like the thought of cutting off my friends, but some of them are just not helpful. Oh, and I have not given up *anything*. Not one thing. I just have a whole pile of things that I don't do very often now, and another big pile of things that I do much more often. Congrats on losing two weeks in a row! I know what you mean about not wanting to spend money on clothes. I bought one new sparkly top in my new size. I'm wearing it with old black work trousers that are a bit big now. It's been to two parties so far (big party with loads of my friends, wedding party in the pub last night), has three more to go (dinner with the Morris team, dinner with my husband's old mates, lunch with my inlaws), and then Christmas day with my family. And then I'm done with it! Luckily it's all different groups of people so no-one's going to see it twice. I'm hoping that by next Christmas, it will be far too large to wear.
@Junerboner -- congrats on the pound and the favourite jeans!
@Susan -- my thing is cheese. I know I should cut it out more; either completely or really only now and then. But so often I just want a little snack and an ounce of cheese absolutely hits the spot. But sweet stuff I'm normally ok without. On cookies, my favourite by miles is chocolate caramel shortbread. But they're expensive to make; they're also known as millionnaire's shortbread! With the kids we make chocolate chip cookies, and the economical one that everyone loves, that we made this week, is peanut butter thumbprints with strawberry jam. The recipe I use makes loads, so they're great for taking to parties and things. Only problem is they have peanuts in so some places don't want them.
@Doug -- if you can't walk without pain I'd definitely suggest lifting, and possibly also look at cardio boxing. A lot of the routines have some footwork, but you can do them without and get a cardio burn in your upper body. And swimming of course!
@mnwalkingqueen -- you are right that it's a basic of living together that if you're going to be out unexpectedly you let the other person know where you are. Is he expecting you to look after/feed his kids when he does this? Just keep focused on the actual issue -- letting you know where he is, and not causing you to be late for work -- and don't let him say 'you want me to stay home all the time' or 'you don't want me to have friends'. Keep focused on the actual behaviour that's transgressive. Do ask him how he'd feel if you didn't come home one night. Surely he'd be really worried? Good luck. And there are some wise words there from Susan and Robin. Being single is a thousand times better than being in a relationship that doesn't include mutual support and companionship.
@Lauriek -- I definitely just woke up one day and thought 'right, it's time to sort this out'. There were different influences that affected me but I couldn't point to any single one and say 'that was it'. It was just the right time.
@queendebor -- welcome back! Hope that running start gets you back on track.
@Angelika -- good to hear about your uncle!
@Toots -- welcome back!
Saturday Success -- I had two big ones. First, we did our first Parkrun -- informal, weekly timed 5ks in a park. I was dead flat last, behind the chap picking up the signs. Which was quite demoralising! At one point I wasn't sure which way to go and I had to ask someone on their way home what the run route was. I was really mopey and weepy. But nevertheless, despite worrying that I was really slow, I got round, and finished in 45m 02s. Which is absolutely a 5k record for me, and I think I can do faster than that another time. So yay!
And then we went to our friends' post-wedding party last night. Loads of food and lovely beer, and *three* bands, including the one the bride & groom play in, and I did go over my cals for the day, but only by a couple of hundred. So that was pretty good too. The bride is a tiny woman, my height or a bit less (I'm 5ft 1), who needs to keep her weight down because she's a professional actress. She does make it seem effortless but I think she's probably very careful indeed. She and her husband were engaged for 22 years! They didn't want to rush into anything...
Sunday Share -- My big problem today is that I'm procrastinating about an online course I'm doing. I need to get focused and get some work done. More generally, I'm worried that we're not sorted enough for Christmas and it's all going to be a big old mess.
Hope everyone's loving their weekend!

Hi again. My Sunday successes is one more pound gone!!  I was able to get into the my favorite pair of blue jeans (that I haven't worn for ages) and they fit nicely. :drinker: People are beginning to comment or noticing that I am losing weight. That is always a pick me up. Even though I am only 6 months into the journey, I'm sure that I will make my 140 goal in a year or two. I will not stop till it is gone! MFP and friends that I have made on the way have been a support that is so awesome. Hope everyone is having wonderful successes too. Robin, thanks for this thread. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0

mackbeth - I salute you for managing the extra shifts - I could not stay awake for 28 hours - no way! That's amazing your still coherent! Glad your new job is starting soon and this madness will stop. So impressed your still managing well on food and exercise. You're a powerhouse of discipline. You go girl! :drinker:
Kaye - WOOT on your 3.6 loss!
Boho - gird your loins for the holidays - I know you can play the mental game well. I use water as my crutch so often when there are treats around. I have one treat (or slice of cheese) then one full glass of water before I have a second treat. It really slows me down. I often then talk myself into having two glasses of water before a third treat, and by then the treats are looking a lot less appetizing.
queendebor - its so nice to have you back!
junebooner - congratulations on your successes - and glad to see you again! Yes, its great to have a mindset and have people start noticing!0 -
hello everybody,
im new looking for motivation, networking and friends.0 -
Sunday Share: I am Margaret; I lurk through this thread every day. I’m friends with Skinnyjeansbound in real live, and have made a few posts here every now and again. About a month ago I got extremely derailed from my healthier life style. I have been binge eating like a professional (which I’m not) and not exercising or doing normal activities like walking my beautiful fur baby Dala. I keep reminding myself that I am choosing healthier life style not skinny jeans. There is NOTHING wrong with skinny jeans, I would love to be a size 10 again, but for me, size 10 is not enough to do the work. I would rather eat than wear a 10. But I would love and will work for not getting diseases associated with obesity.
I quit smoking in July of this year; I’m still using an electronic cigarette sometimes. I have tried quitting so many times but this time it feels different. It’s like the way many of you have commented on your journeys “that something just clicked”. I bring this up, because I know that quitting smoking is one of the healthiest things I could do for myself, and it’s still a bit new for me, but I don’t want to use it as an excuse to be on 40 pounds. In July, I weighed 206, In September I weighed 211 (ish) In October I weigh 206 as of last week 217 I’m heading the wrong direction, I know all the things I need to do, and I know I can do them. I just need to get started again. So I plan on taking a cue from Bohocoast my top most important goal “DO NOT GIVE UP”
@skinny ~ thanks for hanging out w/me yesterday, sorry I kept you the gym, but I’m glad for the time, so work out hard today! And so far only one pair of jeans fits; I will try the rest on in a few weeks.
@ bohocoast~ I ran in my first 5k on Thanksgiving. At the end of the race I was really bummed by my performance, but later I realized that I beat the goal I set for myself to run it in less than 45 minutes. My time was 44 min 43 sec. which gives me lots of room to improve.
@ Everyone thank you for sharing your lives and journeys with me. Thank you being so supportive of each other. The kindnesses you share, expands my heart and is prove to me why I have faith.0 -
I had such an amazing day! It could have been a huge food challenge, but I kept it under control by having 2T. or less of the things that I really wanted to have. I even had a small piece of cake. We spent the day with one of my dearest friends. They are going on a mission for our church at the end of the month. They had a farewell party today with all of their children and many friends and tons of food! We had a wonderful visit. It was very uplifting.0
-
I had a busy weekend. The rock climbing was very interesting and challenging. I learned more about moving while on a rock wall. I was the only person in the class with two instructors so it was very personalized and I was able to work on some of my physical challenges. I had a great workout and was able to climb blind folded- it really made me think about the moves I was making while climbing. The best part was reaching the top.
Karen- I hope the work situation gets better. It is frustrating when dept. chairs and admin make choices for teachers without asking for our input. I hope the dropping of the classes work for you and the kids can handle it next year. Many school systems are dropping the lower level courses or pushing the kids to college prep classes and they are not ready.
Have a great week.0 -
@kaye--sounds like you had a lovely visit w/ friends/ Great job not overdoing it with the tempting foods!:flowerforyou:
@garetie--you didn't keep me from the gym; I knew we would be hanging out and could have woken up earlier to go, so it was my own desire to sleep in that kept me from the gym. Glad one pair of jeans fit and the others will soon enough.
@alison--congrats on finishing your 5k--45 min. is a great time, and as garetie said, now you have a time to beat. Just keep at it and you'll be amazed at how quickly your pace improves. :drinker:
@kelley--glad you had fun at your party! Too bad alcohol has so many calories. I love cosmos, but usually limit myself to one and then switch to Captain and diet coke b/c they are only 60 calories each.
@lmack--hang in there for your last week with those awful overnights. Sounds like you are refocused on your nutrition which you know will pay off on the scale--I hope you reach your goal by year's end.
Sunday Share:
I made it to the gym today and really enjoyed my workout. I was worried that I would have to lighten the weights on the machines b/c it's been weeks since I've lifted, but I had no problems picking up where I left off. Also, ran on the treadmill and did an 11 minute mile without feeling like I would die. Finally, when I weighed in on the scale there I was within a few pounds of my lowest weight. This was also a good sign since it's pretty typical for me to hover within 5 lbs. I also walked gunner--just a short walk b/c it was raining ; then I went to starbucks to get some more grading done. All in all a pretty good day.

Thanks Laurie--yeah our biggest concern is that the kids won't be ready for the change. We can accommodate them if our class sizes are reduced and we're given time with compensation to adjust the curriculum. Unfortunately, I don't anticipate either happening due to the cost.
Glad you had a good training session--that's awesome that it was so personalized!0 -
Hi guys hope you all had a great weekend. Today was my neices ninth b-day and yes I did eat cake and it was great. I also ate little ceasers pizza but only one very small piece. I am now baking bannana bread and some cookies so I can make goody plates for my husband to take to the guys he works with. In December and first part of January the boat is docked in Seattle and retro fitted for the next fishing year. So now I show them how amazing his wife is with all the yummy holiday treats. My husband and my daughter just finished hanging up the outdoor lights and the neighors did theirs today so it looks like one big awesome display. Well tomorrow is weigh in day and while I didnt do horribly this week I am not feeling very confident so we will have to see how it goes. :yawn:0

Welcome back!! I know this was not the most ideal trip, but I'm glad you made it back safely. A lot of posts to catch up, but you'll get to it when you can. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
I won't even try  i'm just going to pick up right here.Had a nice lunch out with garetie at Corner Bakery. She was a good girl and got fruit with her combo--I got the cookie. :blushing: Just logged it and it was 300 calories--actually not as bad as I thought it would be (it was delicious!).
i really think nothing is a wasted calorie if you really enjoy what you're eating. i mean, you know, not all the time but certainly you can make allowances for it. it's when i eat a cookie or something and it just isn't that good that i miss those 300 calories hahaAnd then we went to our friends' post-wedding party last night. that's longer than most people are married nowdays!I finally got the kitchen cleaned up all the way and have started chopping and roasting the ingrediants for my salsa. I tell you the smells in the house are awesome and make this smoothie seem a lot less saisfying then usual
wow, i'm not nearly ambitious enough to make my own salsa. you'll have to let us know how it turns out.0 -
@June -- Thanks for the determined words! I do love everyone's motivations; they help on the journey.
@Susan -- I'm sure this thread has helped me a lot with staying focused and sensible.
@Robin -- that's such a good idea about treats and glasses of water! I will try that this week.
@Kenyabenya -- Welcome! I've found motivation, friends and support here in this thread!
@Garetie -- good to see you back here. Fantastic work on stopping smoking! Really, a few pounds is nothing by comparison, so you musn't beat yourself up. And you're here now! And your 5k time is better than mine, and I've been training consistently. Room to improve is a good way to think about it.
@Kaye -- well done for having tiny tastes of things; that's another plan for me for this week.
@Lauriek -- climbing blindfold! Wow!
@Karen -- an 11 minute mile is so great.
Monday check in -- I've lost another two pounds, I'm now at 202 pounds and ONEderland feels so... close... But this week has three Christmas parties in it; things are starting to get harder. Stayin' focused right now; I'm going to those parties to enjoy the company of my friends, not to pig out on excess food and drink! I saw that Lin has just done exactly that and not eaten anything extra -- so it is possible!
Have another splendid week, everyone!

Happy Monday.
My weekend was crazy. I spent all day Saturday 10-7pm baking x-mas cookies. Then it snowed so spent all day Sunday shoveling and puting up the tree. Food habits were not so great for me this weekend. I was doing fine until I ordered the pizza.
@Everyone- To thos that commented on the relationship. Everything you said is things I have been going over in my head since we moved into the house. Robin I don't think you were being harsh at all and I have thought the same way many of times. I guess that I am just to nice because I don't want his 2 boys to be homeless. I have to remember though that I have to be happy. To the person that asked me to ask him how he would feel if I did what he did.....His response was I don't care your an adult and can do what you want to. Yes, I am expected to constantly care for his kids while he is at work or hanging out.
I had hella fun weekend with my friend making cookies so I just want to leave my post on that positive note.0 -
Welcome Friday! I have NOTHING to report as far as FITNESS goes. I have been walking in bits and pieces here and there but that's it. Today I have been reflecting on the MENTAL aspect of losing weight. I believe if we can get our HEADS under control, we have 90% of the game won. Quieting our furious thinking is quite a task! When we are hungry at night, our brains go into overdrive and mentally we scheme and plot how soon we can have another snack. It takes discipline to re-direct our thoughts to another topic. I'd love to hear what tips and tricks others are doing to train their brains away from snacking!
Also, I'd love to hear what thoughts people have come up with that have helped them just give up food in general. I saw a man on TV this am, and he went from 450 to 250 in 3 years. He said he had to eliminate a lot of mental junk - he said he had to clear his brain of a lot of negativity - to start losing weight. I wish there had been more time for him to talk. He said his was a mental victory. I'd like to know more.
Robin I think you got it the mental aspect correct anyways an idle mind is the devil's playground. If your just sitting around doing nothing and you get hungry man that devil can play mean tricks on you. I know that if I just put my mind to it that I can do things. Small goals like the Dec challenege help also. Just walk each day no time or distant amount just walk. I know for myself trying to tackle everything at once was hard so I started with food then exercise now back to food because that is where I need the most help.0 -
Just sharing a couple of strategies that I am using besides tiny tastes. I do a lot of handwork. I always have a project and when I have a minute to sit down and watch tv or relax, I always pick up the project. Its pretty hard to snack if your hands are busy. Also, I am not and never have been an alcohol drinker. That keeps the calories under control. Even after the party, I had a few calories to spare last night so I treated myself to a cup of hot cocoa, the real thing, made from scratch. It was so good!
Today I am helping a friend make fudge and peanut brittle. Now the real test starts! I love both and haven't made any since I started MFP.
Have a good start to the week. Kaye
walkingqueen@maybe you need to kick the guy to the curb and keep the boys. Just kidding, but I can understand your concern about them. He doesn't sound very responsible.0
