Laurie - what a tremendously long and stressful day you had! I am impressed that you able to get through it and probably it was the kind of day where you needed little boosts of energy to get through those higher stress levels as intense as they were when you were looking ahead at what you had to face further on and strategize for all your appointments. I'm sure I would have developed an ulcer in your shoes! Congrats on making it late into the evening and getting your workouts done!

Tina - That is what happened to me two weeks ago, four pounds in two days! OUCH! but I go it off by getting back on the program, you can too.

Robin - put a bottle of water by your bed. I wake up hungry and take a drink and before I know it I have fallen asleep again.

Laurie - You are a workout wonder!

Vicki - If you are craving carbs, eat some, but eat some high fiber complex carbohydrates. It will keep you on track and settle your craving. I am going to eat a heavy grain piece of bread before bed for that very reason.

I haven't exercised for over a week, I am procrastinating about calling the doctor about my cold... I hate being sick but not as much as I hate going to the doctor.:ohwell:

    Hello Everyone,

The weather is changing for sure here in Idaho. There is snow on the mountains already here in the valley very cold and today the fog was so thick. Which made our field trip for work to the corn maze this morning very interesting, We got there at 10 morning very cold still. We went and pick pumpkins and walk the corn mazes for the day. By the end of the first shift I was so cold could not get warm up. I had to take my after school group that was just plain cold at least not so muddy. They had lots of fun and that made it fun for me. I also go a lot of walking in. But by the end of the day I am just exhuasted my legs are killing me,

@MyMowMow so sorry about your cat

@Christine maybe you are coming down with something I hope not get lots of reat.

Well I am just exhuasted and going to get ready for bed.

Thursday truth: -- Before I left for work this morning I made the stew for dinner. With notes on how to warm it up so it be ready. Of course no one saw the note on the fridge. After working 9 hours and giving all day to others I don't fhink I had more than an hour of that time where I wasn't talking. I just want silence and to put my feet up. But I am not saying this for a pat on the back . It is what happens. Than I feel guity cause its not their fault I am tired.

Sorry not very encouraging today. Wishing everyone well hope you have a good night.

    Liz

Hi everyone. I had an incredibly lazy day. I woke up this morning and got up but then I wasnt feeling so great so I layed back down and slept until a little after 1 in the afternoon. My daughter then made dinner for my brother and his family so I didnt have to cook or anything and it was so nice to just relax the whole day away. My calorie intake for the day is needless to say insanely low as I have only eaten dinner and it was a nice healthy fajita salad. Anyway I hope everyone starts feeling better and getting their mojo back fairly soon. You are all a super great bunch of people and I know you can totally do this.
  • Thursday Truth - pretty sure I didn't get the job I interviewed for, because the projected time frame has come and gone. sigh. I wasn't sure I wanted it, but I definitely wanted the choice to be mine, lol. I hate this job-search process, as it brings out all my insecurities.

Friday Fitness -- now that both heels have recovered and my knee is on-the-mend, I would really like to get out for a hike or two this weekend. I also need to rake the leaves. Hopefully, Sandy will wait until at least Monday to hit us.

Read everyone's posts from while I was away, but no time to respond tonight. Sorry about sick puppies and kitties and frustrating weight gains and stress and exhaustion. Hopefully next week, we will all be on the up-swing...

    TGIF Everybody!

Friday Fitness - I'm pretty much sticking to the same exercise plan that I've had except I added The Biggest Loser's cardio max and power scuplt to me routine. I really enjoy the workouts and I'm hoping that will help jump start more dramatic weightloss.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and weekend!

I've been totally unmotivated this week to exercise, I've been working really long hours and by the time I get home I'm too tired to do anything.

This weekend we're going to Hall-O-Scream with my daughter and one of her friends, so we'll be walking a lot. I'm going to use the pedometer app on my phone so I can see exactly how much I walked.

    Good Morning & TGIF!

It’s been a whirlwind of a week at work, so glad that today is Friday. The temps here cooled off by yesterday afternoon, actually needed a sweatshirt this morning!

    Friday Fitness:

Monday~I was supposed to walk, but one of my trainers insisted I rest from my 3 mile run on Sunday.
Tuesday~Long work day prevented a workout so unscheduled rest day
    Wednesday~Short Run Outside – DONE!
    Thursday~Trainer DONE!
    Friday~Cross Trainer at gym
    Saturday~C25K at gym
    Sunday~Trainer

All-in-all not a horrible week, but I could have done better. Scale hopped this morning, I'm the same as last week but tomorrow is my official scale day this week so we'll see.

@Laurie~Your day sounded just exhausting, mentally and physically. I’m so impressed you still made it to the gym and got your workout in, that was really important. I hope today is a better day!

@Vicki~If you are craving carbs, you could be lacking protein. I found that to be true for me sometimes – of course, it could be stress too but I’ve found more protein usually helps.

    @Nicole~Good to “see” you!
Thursday truth--I'm totally not committing to my exercise goals. I did manage to do 30 minutes on the elliptical last night, but I'm supposed to be doing 60 minutes of cardio per day, that was my goal since just keeping below on calories doesn't help me tremendously in weight loss. I really need to burn it off. Why is it I'd rather do almost anything (even clean house) than exercise?

I'm just the opposite, I would rather exercise than do most anything else. Weird, I know!

That's the thing. I have been "on the program" Ok there was one day I was over by 400cals. Still not enough to gain 4lbs. It's just stomach issues I assume. But it still sucks.

Morning everybody! I saw my surgeon and got the all-clear to go ahead and exercise from her view. Now, I have to be careful of my shoulder joints, they are the source of my arm pain, but I'm vacuuming today - hooray, and dusting - a whole,, clean house after weeks of letting it go to the wayside! Haven't looked this forward to cleaning in sooo long - I feel like a nut! :blushing: I can do stomach exercises finally too, and butt tucks, which I wasn't allowed to do all this time!!! Such excitement I'm feeling. Have been squeezing my *kitten* during commercials like mad

Thursday Truth- My biggest issue is that I feel guilty putting me first when I am caregiving. I NEED to remember that if I fall ill because I didn't take care of me, then I won't be taking care of anyone else. And if taking care of me means not buying something that is unhealthy and I can't resist, that is what it means. I must learn to say "This is what I need to do to take care of me..." not just to myself, but out loud. If it is selfish, is it anymore so than wanting what one wants? In the long run, no one really suffers if I don't buy unhealthy food.

you definitely need to take care of yourself first. there's no way you can keep your sanity doing what you're doing if you don't. think of it like airplanes where they tell you to put on your own oxygen first before dealing with anyone else, even though your first instinct would be to give it to children or people who need your help. good luck to you in learning to be guilt free and thinking of yourself. :)

    Friday fitness....

@Tina - So excited for you with your new adventure in schooling!

@ RObin - WOOOT! Grats on your release!

I have done diddly all week (for the last TWO actually)..... I've eaten over calories all week AND last night I ate over my TDEE. I just don't know wth is wrong with me..... It all started innocently with ONE snack box of DOTS. It fit into my day, I enjoyed it. Over the next few days it turned into my buying giant boxes of them and scarfing them down with tootsie rolls.

I ordered chinese last night(and a lot of it). It was subpar, greasy, carby, and dangerously high in sodium for me.....

Brought the leftovers to work and told the guys to buffet it at lunch (yes, it was THAT much food and I could NOT afford it).

As of right now the free for all is *OVER*. I eat my food log until Christmas vacation and concentrate on following my exercise schedule! Then I will change my MFP goals to maintenance for a few weeks and let my body have some rest.

I am SO angry and disappointed in myself.

Happy Friday- Plans for the weekend I hope to hit the gym at work. I pay for the membership monthly out of my check but have only been able to use it once. It is an awesome state of the art gym so I gotta find time to go.
I will also be catching up on homework and yes house repairs already it appears I have a leak in the basement somewhere. It was found after 2 full days of much needed rain here in MN.

Friday Fitness. Well I haven't done much this week, thanks to working longer days Monday, Tuesday & yesterday. Did do my elliptical Wednesday. Besides prepping for this Sandy storm this weekend trying to get all my laundry & cleaning done before we likely lose power, my exercise plan is

    Friday 60 minutes elliptical
    Saturday 60 minutes elliptical
    Sunday 60 minutes elliptical

I don't do well without electricity I admit, I'm not into "roughing it". I don't have a generator or a grill to cook all those things in the freezer either. I just want to get enough protein & not live off carbohydrates during a power outage, because that will wreck the progress I've made this month.

And Sandy is also interfering with my babymaking plans for the month, as it is expected to be full force here in VA Monday & Tuesday and I have my doctor's appointment Tuesday morning (ultrasound & trigger). I'm still hoping by some miracle I'll get to do my IUI next week in spite of this storm.

Friday Fitness::: Well like last week I have been focusing on logging all of my food and doing my best at staying at or under my calorie goal for the day. I am still trying to figure out how I am going to fit my exercise in. I think I have a plan. I just need to stick with it and do it.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Looking forward to taking my daughter trick or treating tonight! NOT looking forward to all the candy that will be at home. I will have my husband take most of it to work and leave some for our daughter who can have a piece occasionally.
She's going as Daphne from scooby doo :)

Thank you to those who commented on my post and esp to those who shared a piece of themselves in their own stories. It is helpful to know that others out there are going through the same thing and to get other perspectives. *hugs* and healing to all of those struggling right now.

I'm thinking of cutting my calories back, just a little bit at first and see how that goes...and then a little further each month til I get to the right level...but a little hesitant to do so close to the holidays. It seems almost like setting myself up for failure.

Why are you wanting to do that? I guess it depends on where your calories are now. Are you not losing and that's why you want to cut them back? What does MFP say your deficit is? For the holidays (the week of Christmas) my plan is to change my calorie level to maintenance and do my damn-est to stay under it. I don't care if I don't LOSE while partying, I just don't want to gain anything back.

You can still partake in almost everything over the holidays, you just have to do it in moderation.

Friday Fitness- Vaccuuming, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the mirrors and front door glass. I've been too busy to take proper care of my home, and that only adds to my frustrations. I WANT a clean, clutter free home. I DESERVE a clean, clutter free home. I am going to GIVE myself a clean, clutter free home. (Or at least as close to it as I can manage without GIVING myself a pain! ) H

Grrr, had a whole reply typed and computer burped and lost it:angry: Not going to do the whole thing again, ate a Dove dark chocolate bar and 2 pieces of chocolate hazlenut wafers this am, but got a grip and am doing much better. Have a fun weekend coming up with dinner with friends tonight, the Down Syndrome Walk tomorrow morning, church and dinner at sons's house tomorrow after church and dinner at son and DIL on Sunday. Water weight still holding on, but forgot to take my water pills today which doesn't help. Getting ready to take my 2nd walk today and later on tonight walk through sweatn to the oldies.

Toots, glad you got to relax yesterday and you are getting your routine back but know you will miss your husband.
Robin, happy you are so excited about cleaning your house. Don't over do!!!
MowMow, I'm with you on the advice to Butterfly, if I tried to reduce my calories too soon, I would crash and burn as I have so many times before. I have found that slow and steady wins the race!
trhjrh, have fun trick or treating with your daughter and good idea about getting candy out of house asap.
kitty, praying Sandy doesn't do any damage or cut the power or interfere with baby making plans.
mnmovin, sorry you have a leak in your basement, hope it isn't bad.

To all my beautiful friends, have a wonderful weekend.

GOOD news about our little Luna! Her chest x-rays were sent to a specialist, and the experts say she DOES NOT have an enlarged heart!!! They say she has chronic bronchitis...two weeks of two antibiotics and a med for cough, and she should get better! A lot of tears were shed at our house this week, but now we are shedding tears of JOY!!! ~ Cath:bigsmile:

I am so happy to hear your little dog is going to be ok Cath. I am also happy to hear Robin is feeling better that is great news. I am just taking it easy and slowly getting my house to where I want it. It is kind of nice to know that once I get it done it is going to actually stay that way for a while. The joys of the kids being grown, lol. It smells so good in here right now. I am making homemade sweet and sour chicken with lots of veggies and noodles. I dont know how to cook for just one so I will take some to my parents and freeze some for another night when I dont want to cook. I di not get my resistance band workout done today but I will be doing it first thing in the morning. I wnat to get on an every other day schedule with it and then I a just need to find some kind of cardio that I enjoy so I will stick with it. I havent been inputting the resistance bands in the exercise area of the website because frankly I cant figure out how. But I am not to worried about it as I ery rarely eat over my calories when the hubby isnt here anyway. Well heres to hoping everyone has a fun and relaxing weekend. :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

Cath- GREAT NEWS about your cat. So happy for you.

Robin- Yeah that you can clean again. I hope you will be able to start swimming again.

Lots of good news today. Happy Friday today.

Yesterday was a day of much needed rest and I enjoyed a night at home. Today, I was suppose to go rock climbing but my partner cancelled due to a work emergency. Regretfully, that happens in the computer world. I did enjoy dinner with a friend tonight so all is good. Tomorrow I will really need to work out since it will be two days off in a row.

I have a lot of grading to do this weekend and that will be given priority however I still plan on having fun. Hurricane Sandy is making a late season appearance so that does not bode well for my area. I am still hoping that it will go out to sea but only time will tell. Some exercises may be replaced with bailing out a basement. YUCK- I just don't want to lose power again.

Saturday- gym and rock climbing-all three walls tomorrow morning
    Sunday- gym for cardio
Monday- trainer session if SANDY does not blow to hard
Tuesday- gym if SANDY doesn't shut the city down.
Wednesday- Frisbee golf- again depends on SANDY
    Thursday- rest
    Friday- bowling and rock climbing
