MFP Debate....Do you accept friend requests with no msg?

Debate? I don't accept blank requests. That's not up for debate.
:happy:0 -
Yes I do. I haven't had anyone just "collecting women", so no reason not to accept.
I do prefer a message but its not like I'm going to deny someone just for not sending a message.
I do always send a message when I send a FR.0 -
i do, because it's pretty obvious you found me in a thread or we have mutual friends already. i don't need a message because i hope to interact and learn what you're all about and it doesn't take long to see the difference between someone who finds you inspirational or simply attractive

I don't accept requests without a note because my profile says I don't... if they can't be troubled to read my profile, I don't think the friendship is going to workout.
That said, sometimes I do, if their name is familiar or makes me laugh, or if there is something about their profile pic that makes me think I would have friended them if I had seen them first (similar photo to me, really pretty dress, nice abs (women can objectify too!))0 -
I check profiles first....and just decide by what I see. I only have two male friends on here I believe.0

It never occurs to me to care until I see one of these threads. I have no idea which of my friends sent a message and which ones didn't except for one person and that's because she just friended me the other day. When I don't get a message, I get a little curious about how the person came across me, but it doesn't bother me. I'd say I get more friend requests without messages than with. Because of these threads, though, I am very aware to send a message when I request, unless I just interacted with the person in the forums.0

Most of the time I do not send a message. I am requesting because the person has shown a work effort or dedication. When I see some of the post demanding a message, it comes across as I am GOD and you must worship me. However, I have read several accounts of both sexes just being requested for they can view the pictures or send messages so I understand. Same as on facebook I do not understand "friend" collectors.
Bottom line: I am on this site to lose the weight, and if you can help great, if not get out of the way. I have my rock at home and it has been a great 16 years and looking forward to many more. This site is about fitness.0 -
no - we are all here for the same reason, and I will get to know each of my friends as we both post and comment on eachothers walls - the fact that someone found me, read somethin I had to say and found it interesting enough to add me says enough really.0

When it's a female i do...For me more the support the happier i am!I l love all the fitness pals i've made so far!.....And this is a fitness network...tis not like facebook...the same rules don't apply here...people add you for only motivation and support is what i believe...
just my opinion0 -
I accept all request. you can always delete them if there is a problem0
-
I accept anyone. I'm a tart. Lol.0
-
I accept any request - in fact I think I've only rejected 1 ever, and that was a guy who had added me once, clearly removed me and was adding me again.
I do wonder where people found me sometimes, like when they have 0 forum posts, or at least no posts on threads that I've posted on.0 -
Yes, I've accepted friend requests with no message and I have sent friend requests (in response to a post on the forum) with no message if someone is looking for friends to support them in their journey,
The friends I had when I first started MFP have all pretty much disappeared. I have only a few friends but I need the motivation a 'friend' can provide when I'm thinking about going off the wagon. And sometimes looking at all my friends are able to accomplish with many of the same obstacles gives me a renewed sense of determination.0 -
If it's someone that I've corresponded with on the boards, I'll accept without a message. But if they're some random, nope. I do not accept.0

^this. i have so many friends i can't keep track of them all...and if someone randomly wants to be my friend, while i'm flattered, they've presented no reason of how they found me, etc. and on my profile, i politely ask for a message. but i'm not trying to be an egoist or anything. it's just for ease of my MFP day to day.0 -
No, I don't accept a FR without a message. Can't do it. I somehow sparked your interest, so you tell me what did it for you. I don't even send a FR without a message either. A friend of mine does Mystery Friend Roulette. He lets us decide on if he should add them or not by how we feel that day. LoL.0

I have heard of this guy...he is like an urban legend or something0 -
It's a cut and dry question...personally, I don't ever turn down an honest request but when there is no msg attached...I just think - why did you send ME a request in the first place? Is it to get to 500 female friends on MFP? I don't know....how do you feel?
If we've communicated through the boards or mutual friends, then yes because I know why I'm getting the request. Otherwise, no.0 -

Urban legend? Or too afraid to make a decision on his own??? LOL0 -
Yes, if we have a friend in common. If not, no.0

I always enjoy that game :laugh:0 -
I usually accept, I can always delete later.0

It depends. If I know them from Tumblr, or from actual real life, then yes I will accept them without a message. But if I do not know who they are and they send me a friend request, I will check into them. Look up their profile, see if they were on a forum I recently commented on...and then message them and ask why?! Haha. Many times if they are female, I will friend them no matter what. After looking into them.0

I accept them, but I'm still relatively new so I don't have enough friends to start worrying about limiting their number. I do definitely prefer a message, though.0
-
Sometimes. Unless their profile isnt filled out. Then its a flat no.
I always wondered why people said "if you fr me, add a message". Now I get it.0 -
No. I have no friends, I am crap at keeping in touch, I don't motivate and not interested in piffle.
I use MFP to keep a food diary and like to play on the forums from time to time.0 -
No...kinda creeps me out. Nothing against those of you who do but I don't want some random creeper stalking my daily activities.0
-
i accept all my friend requests, unless there's an obvious reason to turn them down (but I haven't seen one yet!). I figure there's no harm in someone adding me as a friend- we're all here for the same reason, and it's not like FB, where there's a lot more personal information on your profile page. I only delete friends if I see that they've stopped committing to logging on every day and haven't been on for a few weeks. I understand that sometimes it's difficult to figure out what to say to someone when friending them. There have been a couple times where I considered adding someone, but didn't know what to say in the message when they asked for one, so I just didn't add them.0
