Well, the Old Year is closing out, and the New Year is just around the corner. All of our New Year challenges are wrapping up, and I thought a new challenge would help keep me honest. There are 19 weeks until May Day, anyone care to join me in my journey to a new me for the summer? Let's do it!

I'm going to join you...I am going to be in the biggest loser competition in the city starting in January, so this will go right along with it and keep me motivated!! I am determined to lose 30 lbs over the next six months and this can definitely be done!! Just so you know I am 5'5" and I have this crazy idea of running a half marathon in April even though right now I am not able to exercise at all until the middle of January. I have some healing to do after having a mole removed...my goal currently is to manage my eating so that I can lose weight without exercise which I have not thought would be possible for me. Time to prove myself wrong!

Welcome all! I'm excited to get/keep this going. I've had some real issues keeping myself doing my workouts. Sticking with a challenge gives me a place to vent, get ideas, find my energy, and it also keeps me honest with myself. Together we can do this!0

I think this where I need to be. I am turning 30 June 2nd so this will help me out. I want to lose 50lbs by then.

Welcome everyone! I've been thinking about what challenges me, so that I could work on that this week. My biggest challenge is getting exercise. I live in a very small town (no grocery store, let alone a gym!). Monday through Friday I am either at work or I have my 2.5 yo son and my 5 yo daughter with me. This makes exercising challenging, to say the least. So my challenge for myself this week (I'm a teacher and I started break yesterday!!) is to work out 30 minutes everyday.
What is your challenge for this week?0 -
Eat more vegies. I am going to shoot for 3 servings a day...0
-
My challenge is also exercising. I have a 9 yr old and a 2 yr old. I am a preschool teacher so I started break yesterday. So I want to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. I am going to try and do the couch 25k. I am starting that on Monday.0

here_to_lose, my husband just ran his first 5k a week ago. He really thought the c25k program worked well for him. Now he's starting the gate28k program. Good luck!
sas202554 and Chocolickkyss- Welcome! I'm glad you're joining us!
I didn't hit 30 minutes of exercise today, unless you count the hour and 20 min we spent shopping at Walmart! Sometimes I do end up counting it as slow walking because we don't go very often (once or twice a month, usually), and trying to control a 2 and a 5 yo can really make it challenging! Tomorrow I plan on doing one of the workout videos I found online. Last time I tried a kick boxing one, and it kicked my butt! So, we'll try that one again, and maybe one that targets the arms or abs. I really recommend checking out the videos on sparkspeople.com. They have a bunch that are only 10 or so minutes long. You can combine them so it's like circuit training. (I've been known to have three going, but 2 of them on pause while I do the first. When I get to the cool down part of #1, I stop it and start #2. etc. It can make for a pretty rough workout when you're not used to it!)
Reminder for the week: It's Christmas! Enjoy it! But don't let it derail all your hard work. Make smart choices. If it's something you can have anytime of year, skip it. If it's something you only get at Christmas, have a little and ENJOY it!!!!0 -
I think that shopping counts as some form of exercise. When I am fighting the kids while rushing and avoiding crowds my HR certainly gets racing... I can't wait until I get to exercise again--I have never finished a 5k training program, although my goal is to be able to run a whole 5k without stopping. When I was training to run one I just kept adjusting the amount of time I was running between walking on my treadmill custom program until I had what I wanted. That is the basic idea of any program anyway. Just start with what you can do and add to it--challenging yourself along the way..
Happy christmas prep today! I get to clean house all day as my brother is coming over for dinner, and I have not done much housework over the weekend...:flowerforyou:0 -
So I had a good weekend, I bagged my workout saturday morning, but did work out with Jillian for 40 min on Sunday and 30 min today before work.... Had a fiber bar and cup of coffee for breakfast.... brought a spinach salad for lunch and making xmas cookiees tonight with my girls.....
Hoping to just maintain now through xmas.........
Just about finished my shopping, need to be done cuz I am now broke:sad:0 -
Well the exercise is complete for today. I found a circuit training routine online so decided to try that today. All went well, so no complaints from me. Now it is time to start the work day. Have a great day everyone.0
-
Well I just finished my 1st day of c25k. I think that I did really good. I didn't stop once. so total exercise time today is 30 minutes.0
-
I would like to join please. My bday is in May and I would like to be around 145-140 by the 15th of May my 31st bday. My biggest problem is motivation. My starting weight is 160 (Ihave been stuck at this weight for months) I can not get the scale to go down> Anyone have any suggestions on how to break a plateau?0
-
Today's workout is complete. I completed Jillian Michael's fat burning-boost metabolism dvd (5 minute warm up, 40 minute circuit training, 5 cool down). I'm soo glad the burn 500 calories a day challenge is over. While I still plan to continue my weight loss journey I'm trying not to obsess about it and realize it will come off in time with consistent behavior (eating healthy and exercising). As long as I do some form of exercise at least 5 days a week and eat healthy i'm sure I'll see some progress.
Have a great day!
SMADAG1 - You might have to change up your routine in some form. I'm not sure what your current workout/eating regime is but alot of people on here suggest switching things up, eating your exercise calories (if not currently doing so). I would take a good look at your current routine and see where you might be able to switch things up......Good Luck.0 -
i can't say i've been doing good or bad. i think i'm starting to come down with something so my appetite is not very well and i'm feeling a bit weak. i've lost a pound since last friday but i'm not happy with the way i did it. i'd like this feeling to go away. i want to be better for the holidays.0

So it has been a CRAZY couple of crazy days.... Trying to deal with the stress and emotions with out eating... so far so good looking forward to the holiday with my family and can't wait to have some cookiees and milk with Santa tomorrow!!!
Merry Christmas
Just remember to enjoy your celebration and stop when you are full:drinker: :drinker:0 -
Well, aside from a bum knee this week, I have kept on track so far. Tomorrow, I'm afraid, will not be so great in the eating category, though. I will get up and work out extra hard before spending the day with the fam, but all that food...... . I keep telling myself "portion control," so we'll see. Maybe the fact that I have to weigh in on Friday will motivate me. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!0
-
I plan on getting a lot of running in since my hubby has to work all weekend. I can not run after work because it is too dark so I am going to take advantage of my off days0
-
Well, the exercise goal is an epic fail so far. Ugggg.:ohwell: : Plan was to get the exercise done while the munchkins were napping. But Mrs. Claus had to make a mad dash to find Little Mermaid jammies and panties in the right size. I bought them awhile back, but after her annual checkup, there is NO WAY my "little" girl will fit into them. And of course the first two stores I went to didn't have the size I needed.:grumble: Store number 3 had them, though! Unfortunately, the extra drive time took up the alotted exercise time. But I just got both munchkins to sleep, so I'm off to workout now. (Yes I got on here, first. My 2yo has had trouble getting to sleep, so I wanted to make sure he was well and truly asleep.)
Remember, MODERATION will be the key this week! Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!0
