I'm going to join you...I am going to be in the biggest loser competition in the city starting in January, so this will go right along with it and keep me motivated!! I am determined to lose 30 lbs over the next six months and this can definitely be done!! Just so you know I am 5'5" and I have this crazy idea of running a half marathon in April even though right now I am not able to exercise at all until the middle of January. I have some healing to do after having a mole removed...my goal currently is to manage my eating so that I can lose weight without exercise which I have not thought would be possible for me. Time to prove myself wrong!

Welcome all! I'm excited to get/keep this going. I've had some real issues keeping myself doing my workouts. Sticking with a challenge gives me a place to vent, get ideas, find my energy, and it also keeps me honest with myself. Together we can do this!

Welcome everyone! I've been thinking about what challenges me, so that I could work on that this week. My biggest challenge is getting exercise. I live in a very small town (no grocery store, let alone a gym!). Monday through Friday I am either at work or I have my 2.5 yo son and my 5 yo daughter with me. This makes exercising challenging, to say the least. So my challenge for myself this week (I'm a teacher and I started break yesterday!!) is to work out 30 minutes everyday.

What is your challenge for this week?

My challenge is also exercising. I have a 9 yr old and a 2 yr old. I am a preschool teacher so I started break yesterday. So I want to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. I am going to try and do the couch 25k. I am starting that on Monday.

here_to_lose, my husband just ran his first 5k a week ago. He really thought the c25k program worked well for him. Now he's starting the gate28k program. Good luck!

sas202554 and Chocolickkyss- Welcome! I'm glad you're joining us!

I didn't hit 30 minutes of exercise today, unless you count the hour and 20 min we spent shopping at Walmart! Sometimes I do end up counting it as slow walking because we don't go very often (once or twice a month, usually), and trying to control a 2 and a 5 yo can really make it challenging! Tomorrow I plan on doing one of the workout videos I found online. Last time I tried a kick boxing one, and it kicked my butt! So, we'll try that one again, and maybe one that targets the arms or abs. I really recommend checking out the videos on sparkspeople.com. They have a bunch that are only 10 or so minutes long. You can combine them so it's like circuit training. (I've been known to have three going, but 2 of them on pause while I do the first. When I get to the cool down part of #1, I stop it and start #2. etc. It can make for a pretty rough workout when you're not used to it!)

Reminder for the week: It's Christmas! Enjoy it! But don't let it derail all your hard work. Make smart choices. If it's something you can have anytime of year, skip it. If it's something you only get at Christmas, have a little and ENJOY it!!!!

I think that shopping counts as some form of exercise. When I am fighting the kids while rushing and avoiding crowds my HR certainly gets racing... I can't wait until I get to exercise again--I have never finished a 5k training program, although my goal is to be able to run a whole 5k without stopping. When I was training to run one I just kept adjusting the amount of time I was running between walking on my treadmill custom program until I had what I wanted. That is the basic idea of any program anyway. Just start with what you can do and add to it--challenging yourself along the way..

Happy christmas prep today! I get to clean house all day as my brother is coming over for dinner, and I have not done much housework over the weekend...:flowerforyou:

Well the exercise is complete for today. I found a circuit training routine online so decided to try that today. All went well, so no complaints from me. Now it is time to start the work day. Have a great day everyone.

Well I just finished my 1st day of c25k. I think that I did really good. I didn't stop once. so total exercise time today is 30 minutes.
