Tattoos, yes or no?

Not a fan. Don't understand why anyone would want one. And if you put it someplace where you could gain weight...it could get distorted. I always wonder if when you're a grandparent you would still want it lol. But, it's your body!0

My husband and I have the tattoo that is my profile picture on our inner left wrist. I came up with the basic design and the artist tweaked it. They have great meaning for us. The triquerta represents infinity and the heart for love, showing our infinite love.
eta: Oh yes, and my husband is an educated professional. He is a registered nurse working in an emergency room and spends his nights saving lives.0 -
Tattoos can be very sexy on a woman.0

i like beautiful tattoos, designs that compliment the part of the body they are put on.
i don't know if just an outline of a heart with an awareness ribbon would be that cool of a tattoo.
i am in no way trying to be rude and i understand that it is meaningful to you but it just doesn't sound that good looking to me.
where are you getting it? is it small, just floating in some random place? is it embellished? i hope you don't get mad that i said that i'm just being honest with my opinion as a tattooed person who has seen many many tattoos.
i tend to not like random little tattoos that look like they could have been drawn on with a pen and some markers.
again, just personal opinion.
oh and also my personal taste/opinion:
no tribal
no geckos
no panther
no chinese writing
no las vegas style poker cards skull gun flash art
no disney
no roadrunner, wylie coyote, bugs bunny, daffy etc
sorry if i offended anyone, just one opinion among many0 -
On me, probably not. On others, whatever makes them happy. Although honestly, I usually find large amounts of tattooing unattractive, unless it's something done with an overall plan. For example, my hair stylist has these beautiful geometric shapes all down one of his arms, which looks really cool, but a bunch of random little tattoos covering the same area on someone just winds up looking chaotic to me.0

Tattoos are for lower class individuals. I'm not just talking about those born to underprivileged families, but specifically about people who are just "trashy" deep down inside. They are ugly and will merely serve to let the rest of the world know what kind of scumbag you really are. Oh yeah, you will also likely go to Hell.0

Each to their own, I have no tats personally. If ya get one at least let it be in a hidden spot...

I was getting ready to call you a few names.....Then I looked at the pics in your profile. LOL0 -
somewhere you can hide. You don't want to limit your future because you have them and can't get a professional job. I have one on my ankle and I loved loved roses when I was in high school, not so much now.
So this. I have tattoos and I tell my son exactly this - get them for you and make sure they are not visible in a polo shirt and shorts. I have had friends not get jobs that they were qualified for because of body art. They are permanent. Use your head, and never, EVER put anyone's name on your body except a blood relative!
Good luck and just think first!0 -
I have 2 one on my left wrist it's small and can be easily covered up. My other one is on my neck the only time it's seen is when I have my hair pulled up in a pony tail which is on a very rare occasion. I want 3 more. I want another one on my right wrist angel wings with my 2 nephew's birthdays underneath and one on my shoulder a very small blooming rose with thorns for my mother. And when I reach my goal weight I want a Japanese kanji symbol meaning conqueror underneath the one on my neck. I guess to each their own. I love my tattoos and I DO NOT regret getting them.0

hell yes0

Personally, I'm entirely too fickle for a tattoo.
What's your fickleness quotient?0 -
I love tattoos. they give me a way to express myself i have 7 so far and well definitely be getting more. I have them in my leg, wrists, ear, shoulder. If you have a job or a career that having a tattoo would effect it, i would get it in a place that can be covered no problem! Good luck in your decision...research your shops in your area...word of mouth is the best. If you can see the work first hand you have a better idea of the quality.0

In general I like them but then I ask myself, is there any fashion/style element that I have loved my whole life and am certain I will love forever?0
-
I've got five, and five more already planned out (and waiting for the right artist to come along). They're a personal thing, but a good investment. You'll have them the rest of your life, no matter what you go through, where you end up, or how much you gain/lose.0
-
Who cares what we think? Why would our opinion on the matter affect your decision?0
-
I'm thinking the fact that you're asking on here, where you'll get a whole range of opinions, means you're not entirely sure, so here's my advice. Pick something out, be it your own design or another's. Dedicate yourself to it. Then wait. 3 months, 6 months, even a year. Whatever you think is sufficient for you. If you still want it then, maybe wait a bit longer. Finally, if you're absolutely certain, do what your heart desires.
I have four tattoos and I'm in the process of getting them all removed. I got them in my early 20s, and I've changed a lot since then. They simply aren't relevant to my life any longer. The laser removal is painful (though tolerable), and pricey (though price varies wildly even in our one city). So just be sure before you do it; you don't want to go down this road later on. If I could go back, I would have recognized how much I tend to change, and never have gotten something so permanent. But not everyone is like me, so I think it's got to be your decision and yours alone. Good luck to you!0 -
I love tattoos so I say go for it!
I have 14.
8 of them make up a single piece going down my spine, one on each of my hips, one on my ribs, one on my left bicep area, one on my right forearm, and one on my right shoulder blade.
All of mine have a personal reason behind them & all can be covered easily (with the exception of my forearm during the summer).
I guess when it comes to getting a job, avoiding your neck & hands is especially important (depending on your field), but forearms can always be covered with long sleeves.
As far as wanting them in the future, to permanently put it on my body is my way of expressing myself or reminding myself of something/someone. Make sure what you get will always mean something to you or else you may regret it 20 years from now.
Make sure you do your research & lots of it. Be picky about who does your tattoo. You want the artist who is able to show even the tiniest detail in his/her work.0 -

I do not have any tattoos... but personally I think some people look great with tattoos if they are tastefully done...
I used to think men were the only ones that looked good with tattoos but I have seen some pretty nice tattoos on women... again when the whole body is covered (and I have seen some women covered their arms, legs and god knows what else we cant see...) its an individual thing, fashion statement and a statement of individuality... its no ones business but the person paying for the tattoo that will be on their bodies forever (laser hurts and is expensive and not always able to be corrected) so make sure you love what you want to wear cause it will be on there for a very long time !!!!!0 -
I say go for it. I got myself a small broken heart on my upper left rib cage, just under my left boob. It was my badge of strength for getting through a very trying and unhealthy relationship. My tattoo is very discreet and meaningful to me.0
-
I have a Green Man on my back as a full backpiece, and a white horse in a celtic knot on my right thigh. Mine show in a bathing suit, but not in a tank top and bermuda shorts, which is how I like it. I got them for spiritual reasons, and while I'll show them on occasion, I don't usually. I look very ordinary in my street clothes, and that's how I like it.0
-
I personally don't like them, but I'm very minimalist. I don't like jewellery or make-up either.0
-
I've got 3, just make sure they are something you can handle looking at forever0
-
Depends. Where/what/etc. But tattoos can be a major turn on for me.0
-
Hell yeah! I love tattoos on both men and women. Very sexy, in my opinion. Just a warning... They CAN be addicting!0

Oh my god! He had me going, too. Lol.0 -
Always YES. I agree that it needs to be meaningful. Don't be cheap about it... permanent art on your body is worth paying well for. MAKE SURE the place you go to is sterile. Don't listen to nonsense about "keep it small" or "put it somewhere discreet" unless that is what you yourself want. Your body is a temple. Decorate it any way you see fit0
