Would you pay for MFP if the app was no longer free? How much would you pay monthly?

If they had an option to get rid of the ads and I could pay some modest fee (say about $20 per year), I'd probably pony up. Too much more than that, or if they kept the ads, and I'd just start using MapMyFitness for everything.

I wouldn't have started MFP if it costed me anything. Even if there was a free trial.

Now? Maybe.. But only because I'm addicted to the site. Four months ago, forget it.

No. They already have advertisements so it pays for itself.

When I was using the site to actively count calories, yes I would have paid for it because it worked so amazingly well. However, if I was a new user and stumbled across the site, and then found out it cost money, no way would I pay for it. I would probably assume it didn't work like so many other weight loss plans out there.

I don't think I would. Although I absolutely love this site, I can write down my calories on pen and paper and be fine. Downside being you'd have to experiment more with how many calories you'd need to eat per day to lose x amount of weight.

Then again, maybe if it was a $20.00 per year thing, I guess it wouldn't be horrible...

I would also pay a small fee for an OPTIONAL version that had no advertising.

If I had no clue what this site was all about I wouldn't pay a cent.

Now that I am hooked... probably.
Give a 1yr free trail period and then add some crazy *kitten* features with a SMALL price tag.
Not just 1 or 2 things. Like a makeover.

No I don't have the money to worry about it. I would just do my own thing at this point. I am on here because I like my friends now not because I really care to log. Even though I still do

Nahh. I wouldn't pay for it. Not monthly, anyway.
If I had to pay for the app, I probably would have--
but not more than a couple of dollars.
    & it'd have to be ad-free. c:

You get what you pay for, MFP is free for a reason. There are MUCH better services out there for a fee.

The question is: would people have joined this site if it weren't free?

They'll lose people if they charge.

Nope. I'd just paper track or use a different, free site. I don't use the app, anyway.

No..too many other options available for free.

BTW, you can get rid of the ads by installing AdBlock on your Firefox or Chrome browser. I haven't seen an ad in years, here or any other site.

Can you give me some names of these sites? I would like to check them out.

Breaking my answer into two parts.
Do I think MFP is helpful enough to be worthy of a minor fee? Yes.
Would I pay if MFP began charging? No. One of the main reasons I chose MFP is that it's free.
