Hated it. Repetitive and bad writing. At the end of book 1, I actually cheered at the ending.

The above blogger broke down every chapter in the first book. The blog was a much more interesting read then the books! I am by no means a literary genius, but 50 Shades was one of the top most terrible reads in my life (and I read a lot!)

I think it's a crock of **** and not worth it at all. I have zero interest in them making a movie about this either. Some woman who doesn't know jack about herself and her body allows a sado masochistic man with mommy issues to do whatever he wants to her. The sex scenes weren't even that grand.I think it's for women who have borning sex lives.

I thank god on a regular basis I got it from the library for my Kindle and didn't actually waste a single cent on it. I was on a trip with friends and reading it in my downtime, and they were laughing at me 'cause I'd keep groaning, "my GOD, how much longer is this dragging on???" And then I also cheered when I ended it. I know I could have stopped, but I kept waiting for all the racy sex scenes that everybody was talking about that they couldn't read in public. Maybe my copy didn't have them...? I found it poorly written, boring, and not at all true to the dom/sub relationship. I think it's appalling there is a movie being made of it.

Hahahahaha! Amusing because the 50 shades trilogy started out as Twlight fanfiction!

The book is poorly written, its basically a mills and boon love story with a bit of kinky ****ery. The thing that pisses me off most is that Erica knows the BDSM world far better than she portrays in these books - tying up with cable ties? WTF?!

I don't have a problem with fanfic - some of the best erotic stories I've read (and written) are fanfic, although they tend to be real-person as opposed to TV show based.

Ummm, repetative and boring after the 1st 100 pages. Didn't really understand why it would take a really screwed up guy to make a decent lover. Like you can't be creative in bed without being a crack baby? I won't be bothering with the last 2 books.

I have it on good authority that in the BDSM community, every single one of those shades has a unique name.

the only reason i love it is because it paved the way for more kinky stuff in the bedroom with my husband... sex has NEVER been better and i LOVE IT.

You do realize that the entire basis of this story comes from Twilight? It started out as fan fiction. I agree with this lol

What do you expect from FAN FICTION????

Not many people seem to know this was originally TWILIGHT FAN FICTION!! Then it was picked up and changed to remove everything related to Twilight.

Seriously.....how could ANYONE like this.....I've read some of it, and it's so poorly written it's like a teenager with a hard-on picked up a pen and wrote it.

lol you beat me to it.. oops

These books were weak even in terms of porn, haha! I thought it might get better as I read on, nope.

Somewhat childish writing in my opinion but who am I? ;)

    Cheers!

Have to say worse waste of three days of my life. It was poorly written and not realistic. I have read better that was free. Read it because two of my friend's husbands encouraged mine to have me read it. Unfortunately for him, it did not have the results for him that it had for them. I told him that was because I had a complicated thought pattern. Touched me down there and oh gosh, just didn't do it for me.

I read it but I didn't have high expectations for it being some literary masterpiece. You have to take it for what it is. I've read better erotica - but if you were looking for a way to disconnect and fill your brain with emptiness then go for it. Same thing as watching some of the dumb movies. Not expecting Oscar quality but just need something to take your mind away from the day-to-day stresses.:flowerforyou:

Indifferent. I read the first; was unimpressed, so didn't continue with the series. I wanted to see what the hype was about but ended up disappointed.

Best two weeks of my life too! I hope they come out with more books or another series just like it and just as main stream!

It wasn't my cup of tea. I borrowed the books because I'm not a huge fan of erotica novels so I thought I was going to find it offensive. I was neither offended or turned on...I actually found myself skimming through parts of the book to see if the love story picked up and caught my interest. I didn't finish the first book, I googled the plotline, and asked my coworker (who loved the series) how the other 2 books went. I have other books that I want to read and I don't want to stick with this to find out I still think it's just okay.

I have one thing to say...

There is better written, kinkier, and best of all FREE stuff online...

This. I write better and kinkier stuff myself, too. I've always said that if you're going to write about something, you have to have lived some part of it, or you'd better have a good imagination. She clearly has neither....

Just had the 50 Shades series given to me....Not sure if I should read it...if it's as hot as some say..it'll just lead to frustration.

^^THIS!!!^^ aside from the steamy sex the lack of a story line left me very frustrated.
