Do you lie to your MFP friends about what you eat?

I haven't gone off eating healthy so I haven't not put anything down. I don't have my food log viewable though because it's only for me to count my calories. As I know the calories, I haven't even been using it as much.0

It would be more like lying to myself if I didn't record everything.
This!0 -
Do you record even the "bad" stuff you eat in your diary for everybody to see? Or pretend it never happened? Does having "friends" on MFP influence whether or not you tell the whole truth in your diary?
I don't lie to my real life friends. What purpose would it serve to lie to imaginary internet friends?
^^This and I would just be lying to myself as well. I log for the benefit of me not my mfp friends. It keeps me accountable.0 -
Only twice in the six months that I have been on MFP have I not logged everything: Once, I was at a Hindu wedding and I simply couldn't figure out most of what I was eating. Even when I asked, I didn't have a clue! I knew I went over on that day; but I decided to just chalk it up to life and move on. The second time happened when I ate a cookie that my daughter had made. I had already finished logging for the day and knew that I was way under my calorie goal for the day. I was simply too tired and lazy to figure out what was in the cookie so I went to bed without logging it in.
But other than that, I have logged absolutely everything and I plan on continuing to do so! There's no point in lying to my MFP friends which is the same to lying to myself. It serves absolutely no purpose and actually defeats the reason I'm here: to hold myself accountable and be part of a supportive community.0 -
if it does influence how you record things then you are never going to have success.
if it helps you think twice before eating something that does not fit into your daily intake then way to go.
Call it what you will but for me some days knowing I am tracking and others can see what I am eating does influence me. in a positive way. I log it all. even the 5 servings of pork skins I ate yesterday. mmmmmm they were good though!
Ditto (well, except for the 5 servings of pork skins part...LOL) Of, course, mine was flourless chocolate cake.0 -
I don't log for my friends. I log for myself.
Yep, this. That's one of the reasons I choose to keep my diary private.0 -
No I never lie, no point friends can help if the diary us correct.0

The only way I found to be successful with loosing weight is to be totally honest. I use the food diary every day, record every morsel, good or bad, and am totally upfront with my friends. I feel that being dishonest about what I'm eating is actually letting myself down, but most importantly my buddies that have helped me with their time and encouragement. My friends may be virtual, but at the end of the day they are my friends, and I would have been lost over the past ten days if I did not have them. I've spent years deluding myself about what I eat and my weight....now, its total honesty all the way, and it has paid off!!
Stay honest, share with your friends, you get great support, tips and guidance on here.
Good luck

nope, and you would only be lying to yourself if you log incorrectly anyway!0

I record everything. Your body doesn't care about what you record, so what's the point of lying about it online?0 -
i put everytihng out there for all to see. It definitely motivates me to stay on track knowing that it's visible for everyone. Plus, i can always get pointers from people about how i could improve what i am eating. Although right now i am just more concerned with staying in my calorie range for the day.0

i log all the stuff i eat... even the things i get up and eat in the middle of a night as a horrid result of a sleep eating disorder. those things arent quite so easy to track, but i do my best. often i just end up eating a slice of bread with soybutter or something on it and i track it on the next day's calories if it's after midnight. that's a toughie because it causes that next actual day's worth of eating to be a few hundred calories shorter and i certainly dont wake up feeling full after a sleep eating episode. some people say 'oh its just a few hundred cals' but for me, thats kinda a big deal. i track it and try to move on0

Good lord no!
I don't lie. It's all there for everyone to see, and why wouldn't it be?0 -
I record everything...no reason to lie. I imagine my amount is sometimes off as I don't always have a food scale or measuring cuups with me. But, yep...even the horrible stuff - like the pumpkin bars I was scarfing all weekend.0

Log it good or bad. I am only human and we can all learn from each others mistakes. Also, really I would only be lying to myself, so why not keep it real all the way around!0
-
I feel the whole point of having my diary is so that I myself can keep track of my cal intake. Not for others to see so no it doesn't influence me even if I have to be ashamed of the unhealthy things i eat.
If it affects anyone so much though, they could always set their diary settings to private.0 -
there would be no point to logging food then.0
-
record it all! who cares what other people think anyway.0
-
I record everything. Because of that I tey to make the best decisions possible. Also I hate seeing red when I go over.0
-
This is for me, not for them. No lies here!0
-
If I am having a really bad day I don't post. (shame prevents me)0
-
I don't record certain exercise activities. I just figure they make up for anything I mis recorded. Besides my wife won't let me wear the HRM to bed.0
-
lies don't help - truth will get you where you want to be and tell you for sure why you aren't getting there if you're not.0
-
Whats the point of lying? The whole idea is for accountability and support! While my food diary might not look as healthy and put together as some, it is honest.0
-
Every little morsel . Lying doesn't make any sense . You would only be cheating yourself0
-
I record everything. In the long run you are really only lying to yourself. My MFP friends all share the common goal of changing our old patterns in order to do better. We are not here to judge each other. We are here to give & receive support. There are days I do so excellent & there are days where I stumble. I find more honesty on this site than any other social media site I've encountered.0

I record the good and the bad with the expectation to receive honest feedback from MFP friends. There's no point in me being dishonest about what I eat or drink.0
-
You can lie to MFP but your body/the scale will know the truth...
I am an honest logger!0 -
I log everything -- and hope people don't judge me for not eating clean every day.0
-
Nope, I am only hurting myself by lying. By being truthful, others can see what I am eating and help to adjust certain things if I am having trouble.0
