Why don't you squat?

I noticed at my gym I am the only one that does a true barbell squat not with a smith machine but an actual squat rack, and regular 45lb barbell. so what holds you back from squatting?

Nothing, I do squats at home with an actual barbell.0

Well, it's bench press day.
We squat on Saturdays. :drinker:0 -
I can see why people don't like to squat. It's not an easy exercise. But you gotta do what you gotta do!0

cause i only work out chest and biceps brah0

I don't do barbell squats because I work out at home and I don't have space for a squat rack.
I do dumbbell squats and Bulgarian split squats, which, in my experience, are a bit more challenging (for me) than traditional back squats.
But WAY TO GO BRO!0 -
I think for a lot of guys who don't squat it falls into 2 categories:
1) It's hard (harder than bench press anyway)
2) Legs aren't a glamour muscle. A lot of men seem to love to workout chest/abs/biceps as if that's all the ladies like looking at!
Squatting's awesome!0 -

I do Full Squats twice a week. One power day, and one Hypertrophy day (speed work) in my routine.0

Now that you've pointed it out, I'm going to watch at my gym as well to see if I see any of the guys squatting. I can't think of a time I've seen anyone do it other than me. Innnnnteresting!0

I do squat, in a rack, sometimes with the smith machine because I work out in my apartment complex gym and if some guy is getting his curlbro on with the barbell for an hour (50 of these mins are usually spent goofing off or on the phone) I don't have time to wait on him. But I squat, makes my booty look nice.
Heidi hit it on the head pretty much though why guys don't squat.0 -

I don't have a spotter so I just prefer to use the Smith machine... and yes, I know you can put stops on a regular squat rack. Just my personal preference.0

Do 'em 2x per week 3x5!0

Ditto!0 -
My gym only has a smith machine, I still get a great squat workout with it and have no issues with it. Obviously you can stack more weight on the smith so it's not a true squat but it does it's job.0

I don't want to wreck my knees.0

Agreed. I have dislocating kneecaps, so I have to be VERY careful of what I do. Even just using the legpress could be an iffy situation on whether or not a trip to the ER is in order.0 -
couple thoughts of mine:
I always feel like I am the only one doing whatever I am doing at the gym, which is pretty darn awesome because then I am not really waiting for anyone/nobody is in my way
I just started lifting in March and I think the squat rack looks pretty intimidating. I have used the leg press and squatted with dumb bells a lot. I used the hack squat machine for the second time a few days ago and I got the soreness I wanted in my legs and my shoulders didn't hurt this time! So I guess after I try hack squats more, I can "graduate" to try the legit squat rack. Not everyone is on the same level, but that is fine0 -
Don't do them. Bad knees and a bad shoulder.0
-
I do - front and back.
And actually most of the regulars at my gym do them every week; but then it's a bit of a hole and the only serious weight training gym for miles around.0 -
try 10 pistol squats then get back to me bro0

Two knee replacements and a broken leg!0

I stand up. Hard to squat at a urinal.0
