:flowerforyou: Hope you are having a good week so far!!! My sales meeting was OK...we had to sample 5 ravioli and campare to another so 10..I just had bites..sausage tortellini, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes..homemade tamales for lunch and then they passed out M & Ms another line we rep..I didn't have any...got home 10 mins before my gym class..so missed it
It's all good...working from home today and going to 430 class:bigsmile: filling the fridge with veggies and focusing on the basics...exercise - water- veggies - fruit - whole grains etc.

I drug one of my gym friends to Zumba on Fri and she walked out after 30 mins! Yes I know the MELT book is coming out next week I pre ordered. In looking at the website I saw that Sue will be at my gym in Feb!!!!!!!! She is teaching a class and having a book signing!!! I am so excited... I will keep everyone up to date on the benefits I find

Hi lovely ladies! Hope your Tuesday is going well. I’m getting some things done here…not as much as I want, but getting there. I woke up this morning nauseated and with some GI upset, so I bought some lactobacillus at Walgreens…Hopefully that will take care of things. I do NOT want the GI infection I had before after antibiotics! BLEH!
Most of our Christmas decorations are down except the upstairs, which I’ll finish tonight. I was remoting in to my hardwired computer from my laptop last night working on my book and got a virus. :explode: My entire computer is locked up. It looks very official and says it’s from the FBI (uh huh):smokin: and that I owe a fine of $10,000 to get my computer working again because (it says) I have been surfing child porn (NOT)!!! :noway: I’m glad I realize it’s a virus (or malware), but it does look official with a seal and everything so a lot of people might fall for it. It gives you a handy spot on the page to link to paypal and start making your payments! OMG Too bad I can’t create my own virus and send it to them!
BJ: I have seen that condition in the ED. You can also see it in little old ladies who fall down and can’t get back up so they lay there for sometimes days and that destroys their muscle tissue too.
Marita: what a funny story. I can just see you two!
Denise: vitamin F is vital to life…F stands for friends. We are all your friends here, so log on frequently.
Lynn: welcome aboard!
Renny: glad the site got rid of that spammer. Right now I have zero tolerance for that!!!
Katla: I have found at the Y that by the end of January, those resolution people are mostly gone.
Gail: your visit with family sounds like it was great. I have read that the electronic cigarettes are not any better for you than the original.
Barbie: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! It’s so nice to hear of people who are as connected as you two are!
Michele: I have never gone to Aldi, but they are here in Omaha. Since Walmart price matches, I use their “loss leader” specials and get them at walmart. They do have some great produce specials!
Liz: I too belong to the Y, but haven’t been in a year or so, since I tore my calf. It’s only about 5 minutes from our house, and it’s a great facility. I keep planning to go back….hmmmmmmmm can you give me a kick in the rear? Happy birthday to DH!
DeeDee: It looks like you are having a better day today! I sure hope so. Hugs don’t wash away!
OMG: Embracing menopause????? :noway: Not me. I’m kicking and screaming! I will glady embrace it when my uterus falls out somewhere and I can just walk off and leave it LOL
Becky: anything to get your water in!
Tammy: it’s all about baby steps
Chris: check out the wii fit; it has tons of different exercises on it
Nancy: I love to swim. I think I was a dolphin in a previous life!
Lucy: I’m sure someone else has already answered, but the first D is “dear”
Laura: aint technology grand?
Jb: what a great poem and inspirational too! Thanks for sharing! I did think you wrote it till I read your last post!
Liz/elizcarman: welcome to our group. Come back often!
Mashoo6: welcome to you too. Can you add some protein to your lunch and perhaps eat it a bit later in the day?
Glenda: that’s great motivation to go to class! Our Y did something here (only once) that I thought was great. You paid a fairly hefty price for an aerobics class and each time you came, you got some of that money back, so in the end it was free (which is good since it was free to members to begin with). That was some good motivation!
JaneHadji: you are right; all the nurses here will tell you that tape (the stronger the better) fixes anything. AND the more the better! Have a fun birthday week!
Annie: welcome back. Your trip sounds amazing!
LindaS: happy Tuesday!
Judy sounds like you survived your vendor show pretty well. Good choices!
janeM: snuggles are always good
OK ladies I need to get busy now. Enjoy the day and make healthy choices. Take care, meg from Omaha:drinker:0 -

We did it! We finally set up the trainer we got so that we can turn one of our recumbent trikes into a stationary exercise machine. I rode for half an hour with enough pressure that I can really feel it in my legs. Yay! I listened to an audio book to keep myself entertained. I long for some sort of TV or computer that will display changing scenery as if I were riding outside somewhere. We got our first recumbent trike after my husband's MS made it too difficult for him to balance on two wheels. It was really hard for me to ride my two wheeler slow enough to stay with him while riding, so we got a second trike for me. The trikes are a real kick to ride and our dog loves to trot along side of one of us when we're out. This trainer will give us another exercise option when the weather isn't good enough for outdoor riding. You should have seen the dog's look of betrayal. I was riding my trike and he wasn't getting to trot along side. He eventually just jumped into my lap. DH took him into the house, and I did my exercise ride. Next thing he'll want is a treadmill so he can "go" too.  This new option will help me wait things out until the Resolution People have gone back to their old habits and the gym isn't over crowded. It will also give DH a good way to get some cardio exercise.
Reading posts from this wonderful group of women is a real boon. It is fun to have an international bunch of friends. Who would ever have thought that LA and Ontario, Canada would have the same morning low temperature on January 15? :noway:
Thanks for the VitaminF.

I'm late with all this late for my vit. F. But I was needed at my sons house sick little grandson. He got that stomach flu with the barfing. Sure hope I don't get it. He was on me a good part of the day. I made sure food was good while there. But then came home and the only thing ready was chinese macaroni pasta not good for diabetics but it's the first in a couple weeks so shouldn't be to bad.
Need to check my blood sugar 2 hours after eating and I just finished my pear so be 9 and it will be bedtime for me to. Long boring day sitting around with little guy in my arms watching cartoons and kid shows. Had enough of those to last me awhile.
Hope you all had a great day.

Wow! You girls have been busy bees. I am swamped at work and I think I am so far behind they are going to have to pipe in the sunlight for me to see it. Right now we are in the middle of an ice storm and closed down early at work. Just a little further behind. Oh, well i can use the rest.
I am working on getting back on track. Seems that I have been letting the job get ahead of what I know to do for myself. That stops this week!! Back to the gym for me.
Hope everyone is doing well.
love ya,
Jolene0 -
 I haven't posted in awhile...busy, busy, busy! I biked and rowed yesterday, today the alarm was set so low in volume that I overslept...so no exercise:sad: ...hopefully tomorrow I will hear the alarm:ohwell: ...the stress level at the new office is still there...new systems, new (and more) steps to follow procedurally and my old boss still thinks he IS my boss and asks me to do things that are not how the NEW office does things...AWKWARD and I seem to be throwing him under the bus frequently...good thing he is in FL for the next week....oh well it will get better...just takes time
Love the vitamin f and all the support and feedback that is shared on this thread...have a great evening all...hugs and high fives

Hi all, it's Tuesday night and I'm off to my book club in about 20 minutes so this will be short. I read everyone's posts and am constantly amazed at the good humour and support everyone on this thread shares.
Yesterday was the end of a full week of extra work for me, getting together a public presentation and power point about (are you ready for this, it's not for the faint of heart?) SEWER TREATMENT PROCESSES. OMG, I probably know more about sewage than any sane person should know. Anyway, the room wasn't packed, but there was enough interest to at least have made it worthwhile. Now this week I just have to catch back up on the budget changes and get an agenda out for next week's meeting.
But, tomorrow I'm taking a day off. Final check up after my surgery 8 months ago. And I'm going to have a slow entry day and savour the coffee and watch the birds etc. Something about having it on a work day makes it special, sort of like playing hookey without the fear of being caught being truant - lol.
Anyway, must rush and have dinner (all left overs tonight) and I know there will be something yummy at the club meeting that I will want to try - I've left enough room for some empty calories.
Will check in tomorrow morning as part of my lazy morning enjoyment.

Wow....You ladies are phenomenal!!!!! How you keep up with who's doing what all the while throwing that encouragement and Vit F all around.
Hope those of you feeling that flu bug get well soon.
Cold in Indiana where we live full time, feeling winter a little less in our coastal Mississippi where we are part time.
Someone mentioned 2 left feet and a little Zumba anxiety. Fear not! IMHO it's undoubtably the best exercise there is. My entire class are without right feet. (proud to say I'm likely #1 most uncoordinated participant) lots and lots of good laughs. Just move and you will loose. Bye bye stress!
Sweet dreams and thanks again for the encouragement!0 -
Hi all. I'm new to this, only started 2 weeks ago. I'm from West Virginia and have been watching my calories since the first of October. Had already lost 14 pounds before I found this site. Am losing slowly now. Need some motivation.0

:flowerforyou: Thank you for all your anniversary good wishes. We spent most of the day together (except for the long dog walks). We had lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant and brought home the leftovers for another time. Jake asked if I wanted spring rolls and I declined so he had soup and I didn’t. We spent a good part of the day talking about ideas for a special trip for our 25th Anniversary----might as well get an early start…….the plan so far is to go to Victoria, BC for four days, probably in late December so we can go to Butchart Gardens to see the holiday lights.
 Welcome to everyone who is new. Don’t be intimidated by the number of wonderful women you’ve just met. We were all new at one time and we just jumped in and shared and read and asked questions. MFP changed my life and being connected with all of you is something I don’t want to be without.

My word for for 2013 is “Stretch” inspired by “The Happiness Project”….I will seek opportunities to stretch my body and stretch myself personally by improving skills and trying new things.
Resolutions for January (with middle of the month progress report)
*Be agreeable----say OK (successful most of the time and when I goof, I know it immediately)
* Yoga once a week (added some poses to my day but no formal practice)
*Walk with hubby once a week (two short walks)
*Weight training three times a week (5 sessions so far)

glad you had a good audience to view all that hard work; hope you enjoyed the empty calories this evening. I've enjoyed way too many empty calories since the holidays.
Wow, the apple I just ate was really good - there's hope for me. Parenthood is on so I will be distracted. Maybe I'll just come back later. I have much catching up to do but I hope all is well in your hometown.0 -
I am thinking of signing up for the TC10K on April 28th, walking that is (running is not feasible at this point). Well, actually, I have about 75% decided. Talked to a friend/colleague of mine, who will do it with me. We used to work out together - until I got another job 2 years ago and the work-outs were no longer working out . In any event, it would give me a goal to work towards. I do better with goals.  In addition, I may sign up for a 14 week Saturday morning program so that I am ready for April 28th.
Heck, now that I have written it down, by golly, I will do it.
Thanks for listening. I will let you know how it goes. I better go to the website and sign up! (if I can remember my password)

Liz - happy birthday to your hubby. Good for you signing up at the Y. I love exercising in the water. It's such a good workout, it can be very low impact or no impact depending on whether you're in the shallow end of the deep end. Actually, I did 50 minutes of a.m. & p.m. walking DVD today. Tomorrow I'll go to yoga and then a deep water class.
DeeDee - I just got back from playing mahjongg and the UPS truck was pulling out of our development. sure enough, it delivered this leaf brush (for the pool) that Vince ordered. It looks like it has a large bag on it, so it'll hold a lot. I had a feeling that they might not dig
Becky (shrimpMe) - keep on drinking that water!!!!!
Tigress - yup, we lived in Stroudsburg for about 12 years. If you wanted to go anywhere, you got to know the back roads REAL WELL.
Chris - before moving to NC, we lived in Kennett Square, right by Unionville. Another couponer!!! Vince knows that I buy things mainly if it's on sale and if I have a coupon. When the kids were at home and I'd come home with 10 bottles of something they'd say "ma, we know what was on sale and you had a coupon for". If I can get something cheap enough (it's on sale and I can use my coupon), even if I don't use it, I donate it to the soup kitchen. I like the Leslie Sansone walking DVD's. You can see a clip at collagevideo.com but I've found the price at Amazon to be cheaper. So I go to one place to see the clip and the other to buy it.
Lucy in DE - the "d" can stand for "dear" or "d**n" depending on how you're feeling....lol Good luck at your meeting
We still need to get the "box of boxes" ready to put away. These are the boxes that we use for wrapping Christmas gifts. We also need to put away the box with the cards, etc in it. Otherwise, all the other Christmas decorations are put away.
jb - thanks for the lovely poem. I enjoyed it
Liz - so happy you returned. Do it lots so we get to know more about you and you'll get to know us better.
masch - is there a reason you can't eat dinner early? I've found having something high in protein fills me up. Or airpopped popcorn which makes me want to drink water.
Glenda - congrats on getting that pass.
janehadji - I would make only one cake if it were me
Judy in So Cal - please do keep us updated about the book signing. That is so neat that she'll be at your gym. I remember when Marion Nelson (Strong Women Stay Young) was at our Y.
Meg - It really burns me up when I see those things like you got where the "official" release tells you that you own a certain amount of money. I just feel so bad for the poor people who get sucked into this (like the elderly). So I'm not the only one who uses WalMart's price matching! One good thing I've found is that sometimes a place will have, say, jello, on sale. Only they won't have the flavor I want/need, but WalMart does. So I take my ad into WalMart and get the flavor I want. I've used Aldi's loss leader specials to get the price at WalMart, too. Only by me their (WM) produce I don't think is very good. Usually I have to go to Aldi anyway since their regular prices for some things are lower than even WM.
Lin - hope your grandson gets better fast and you don't get sick
Lila - I can tell you where the sewage comes from.....<smile>
Warm welcome to everyone who is new
Renny - good luck on your 10K. What exactly is a TC10K?
We had bunco here. I don't know what it is, but after everyone left I pigged out. I think part of it was that I wanted to get things out of the house. Fortunately in one way, this one gal and her mother ALWAYS like to take things home, so I gave them lots of things that I really didn't want in the house -- cheeses, someone left some sandwiches, gave them a piece of the cake I made (I finished it up), some of the cookies I made (I finished them up, too). I overdid it today, but that'll change tomorrow. I don't know what it is, but right before people came for some reason I was really stressing out. We had 8 people here today, which was a lot. they asked me to have it next month but I need first to find out when we're leaving for FL. The Daytona is the following weekend.
Better get to bed. Hope everyone has a great evening.

Good morning beautiful ladies:flowerforyou:
Renny Congrats for signing up for the walk!!! I`ll be here cheering you along!!!!
Baribe Sounds like a wonderful day with Jake ! Your next anniversary trip sounds fabulous!!!!
Teri Do you usually wear just one contact? I did for awhile, the eye with the contact was for seeing distance and the one without was for up close seeing:laugh: . Then I got to where I just couldn`t see well that way and tried bifocal contacts:noway: :grumble: , they bother me a lot, we could never find a happy balance, and I would have to put on reading glasses to see up close. I just decided to wear glasses most of the time:ohwell: . I might one of these days consider having surgery!
Michele How long are you getting to stay in Flordia? By chance are you going down to the race? Hopefully you`ll have wonderful warm weather!!!! I`m so ready to see the sun shine here, these rainy days are starting to get me down!!!
Jb Loved the poem!!! I really needed to see it too, it was not a good day for me!!!!
LindaC Hope grandson is feeling much better!!!! Those times get tiring watching kid shows all day! My youngest granddaughter wants to come spend the night, she`s 6, I`m sure kiddy shows are what we`re going to watch! She`s wild and crazy too, I tire out just watching her expend all that energy:laugh: .
Lila Interesting topic you had.....glad you had a good audience! Enjoy your day off!!!
Welcome all the newbies:flowerforyou: ! Come in often and just start chatting away! This is a fabulous group of women!!!
Amanda I just saw on the news a helicopter crashed in London! Hope you were not close by!
Well time to go get myself ready for this day! Hope everyone has a safe, happy day!!! Drink your water:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: and log your food!!!
Hugs,
DeeDee in rainy, gloomy NC0 -
Good morning,
It's a snowy morning here in RI. I have to be at a school about one half hour away and I am not looking forward to the commute---especially at my oil change on Monday, they told me I needed at least two new tires and I said "next month"!!
I went to my Weight Loss Challenge group last night and was down 2.4 lbs this week so I am happy that I finally am moving in a good direction. I did my exercise every day last week--that is a real achievement for me. I feel so much better when I am doing these things.
Well, I better go get a start with clearing my car off and getting a move on the day.
Happy Anniversary, Barbie!!
Have a great day,
Sally0 -
Good Morning!
Big rush this morning but have a question hoping someone may have info. Anyone heard of ColorBlaze 5k? Have some exercise friends wanting me to commit but little info on just what it is. I know you wear white and get sprayed with color throughout the walk/run for charity but wondering just how competive this is. Any info is appreciated. Thanks and make it a great day!0 -
Good morning sunshine How you doing Skipedy do dah day. I'm the Happiest girl in this whole wide world.. I know not the right words but that's how I feel this morning and wanted to share. LOL

Texas gal
We don't see mistakes here. See you later
Renny
10K walk you will do it you told us now. Your committed lol
Michele
No need to buy Leslie Sansone. They are on U tube. Of course I found that after I bought them. But they will come handy at cottage and when camping. Something in the air in your town and mine last night had the munchies.
Deedee
Called and checked on grandson. He's fine today and on his way to school. He wasn't to wired yesterday very cuddly.
Sally
Nice loss Keep doing what your doing.
Well that done. Now need to get dressed and ready for my day. Do some zumba before hubby is back from coffee.
Making it a great day tops tonight.
Wii put me back to my lowest this morning. Great now to keep going down.

Good morning everyone! How inspirational to read all your encouraging words! I'm doing great getting in real, daily exercise and eating a reasonable, nutritious diet. I feel so much better... now to keep that motivation and positive thinking.
Barbie I LOVE the Happiness Project and I love how you incorporated Stretch into your life. Very cool.
My word this year is Gratitude. Grateful that I can still get up and move with minimal pain, grateful for my family, and for my little dog, a miniature schnauzer who had me up a good part of the night with seizures. She's better today, but it was a long 24 hours.
It finally feels like winter here with a gloomy, rainy and chilly day. Makes it easier to work in the house, but harder to get to the gym!
Hope everyone has a great day.

:flowerforyou: It's Wednesday all you Vit F's:flowerforyou:
Once again pressed for time so only a few notes.
jb- LOVED the poem
Sally- Congrats on that loss:flowerforyou:
JaneH- sounds like it will be a wonderful birthday celebration with your family:flowerforyou:
Work continues to plague me with frustration. I did get some great help with Tech Support yesterday but now I have to work on closing December so I can get the monthly reports done that are due either Friday or Monday (I'm hoping for Monday:huh: ) Still haven't set up the files for 2013....just another thing to be done that's hanging over my head. Then there is the paper work that is due today that I know the boss will be looking for the first minute he walks in the door.
Hubby survived another all nighter, he's never going to volunteer for this again. It's just too hard on him he says, I really am not too fond of it either as I don't get the sleep I need either when he's not there. He only slept 5 hrs yesterday but was able to get a nap in too but still not enough.
I'm sitting here with my hands so cold, I need to get my coffee cup full so I can hug it. I'm struggling with getting into the exercise this week, but am hopeful that when we have our regular routine next week I will be back to what I know I need to do.:blushing:
Today was weigh in and I stayed the same so I'm sure it's because of not exercising but holding is good for me I'm not in a hurry to lose this little bit.
Everyone have a good day and let's keep moving, drinking our water and logging our food:drinker:
Laura 80111 in Colorado0 -
Good morning everyone. Feeling the 2 week in blues. Nothing is happening. However I know I committed to a month of hanging in there, which I intend to keep. I' m hoping a month will show me I can keep at it. I don't understand why sometimes I can feel so on top of things, and it feels fun and exciting to track food and exercise, and then the next thing you know, I'm depressed and unmotivated. As I write, It sounds bi-polar, :noway: which I know I'm not. Just when it come to health of my body. I'm eating about 1400 calories a day and the scale isn't budging:frown: . I know because I'm on a thread with women of the same age, you must all know how I feel, been there, done that. I know if you can do it, then so can I. So here's to :drinker: support groups that hang in there for the long run. Way to go for all of you who have been overcomers in this battle, and here's to all us newbiew who want to learn from you and be where you are in the next number of months.
Have a good day everyone, drink your water.

Good morning, lovelies! It’s dreary and rainy here today – and I’ve been cold for three days running. Still getting my workouts in but no walking. I’m trying very, very hard to make sure I’m eating super clean – but every afternoon around 2pm I get hit with a sugar drop and just need something to fill me up right.now. It’s been my natural cycle for as long as I can remember. Anyway, I’m shopping today for healthy snacks that will fill that hole. I already have cottage cheese and hummus and rice crackers or celery, but I really crave a salty snack. I’ve tried nuts, but I’m looking for more ideas (vegetarian only). I may have to break down and buy some power bars, but I honestly hate those things. Any recipes for good high-protein bars?
Shrimpme, I’ve seen pictures from on-line Beach Body friends who have done the run – it’s far more fun than competitive. Give it a try if you like to run. A 5k is only ~3 miles, so it’s pretty doable. The paint part is just part of the fun .
Ah, Sally, you must be a little colder than we are here in PA. We just have liquid snow. Ugh for driving in snow on iffy tires. It was the one thing I always made sure I had, even when I was a poor single mother and scraping by. I dread sliding. Congratulations on that weight loss – that’s terrific for a week! :drinker::flowerforyou:
Glenda, hoping for warmer weather for you – because then it’s coming our way too . If the vibration machine is like the one from my mom’s generation it’s kind of like jiggling the fat off, isn’t it? I suppose it must do something, even if just making us feel better. I agree about the drying off and getting dressed part – it’s why no one in our house likes getting out of the shower. They don’t naturally like long showers, they just don’t want to have to get out .
JaneH, Denver’s been cold as punishment for the Broncos letting the rest of us down . Your poor brother – doesn’t he know he’s going the wrong way? You should be going that way! So, in ANOTHER way that we’re alike: my birthday is on Sunday. Happy early birthday to you! And my mother made German Chocolate Cake for me for my birthday every year for as long as I can remember. Now my sister makes it for me – but she’s out with her daughter trying on wedding dresses (the daughter, not my sister) so I guess I’m going to have to make my own cake *kicks dirt and rocks*. We must be almost-twins. If you ever look at astrology, you’ll see that Aquarians are prone to injuries in their feet and ankles (ankles especially) and have to be careful there. Happy birthday to your father also.
Annie, I feel that way too about all the posts but I just go back as far as I can in one sitting and call it good. Usually someone comments on something if I missed any big news . Your holiday sounds fantastic – you’ll look wonderful in your tan with all the pasty white people in the UK .
Linda, Brr! Stay warm.
Judy from socal, your eating plan sounds great – and kudos for resisting the goodies! My sister feels the same way about Zumba – nothing like it for making you feel like a klutz, but if you stick with it you’ll pick up the steps and be dancing like a star in no time!
JaneM, love the snuggles!
Meg, I hope the GI stays under control! Mine gets upset when I have a lot of post-nasal congestion. I hope your health is on the upswing – this season is dreadful. Wow, that computer virus sounds horrible! Have you heard about the warning from Homeland Security about the weakness in Java and that we should be disabling it until it’s fixed? I tried to do that on my computer but then MSN wouldn’t work Grr. I’m using Foxfire for my browser and so far haven’t gotten any indication of attacks. I have a fairly solid firewall on the home network too. Good luck fixing the computer!
Katla, congratulations on getting your bike set up. It sounds like it’s going to be a great way to get some extra exercise instead of sitting and doing “nothing”. We used to tease the kids that we were going to get a TV that required them to generate enough electricity to run it via a bike or treadmill. We never did though.
LindaC, poor little guy! I hope he recovers quickly.
Jolene, hope the ice moves out quickly. It’s the weather I dislike the most except for wind. Brr. As you know, the best antidote for stress at work is making some time for exercise and “me time.”
Jen, you probably really needed the sleep – stress tends to do that. I woke up this morning and did the math of how much I’ve been sleeping – it’s TONS more than I normally do (I’m a seven-hour girl). Last night I went to bed at 9pm and woke up once for an hour or two, then woke up for good at 6am with the cat, but it’s still a lot for me. I hope your job gets less stressful. Sounds like your old boss is having a harder time adjusting.
Lila, I hope your checkup goes well and you get to enjoy your day “off” today!
Welcome, CK_Vance – congratulations on the loss so far. You’re doing great.
Barbie, happy belated anniversary. My mother and sister went to Butchart Gardens when they took their trip to BC and LOVED it. They brought me back seeds for a blue flower – I need to try to get them to sprout. I hope you have a wonderful time.
Texasgal, I’m at the age where my near-sightedness is crossing my far-sightedness – and my eye doc recommends I just wear one contact instead of trying bifocals .
Renny, you can walk a 10k – it’s easy! And yes, it’s great to have goals. Let us know how it’s going!
Michele, ah, yes, stress-eating, know it well. I hope you feel more relaxed today.
DeeDee, hope your weather warms up soon too – then it comes my way! You’ll be glad to have your plumbing fixed although having your yard dug up isn’t too much fun.
Katla, rest is not to be discounted . I agree, usually after the first month (a lot of gyms give a 30 day trial membership) most gyms quiet down. Some of the classes might be fun even with more people, but it’s a pain waiting to use equipment I agree. We find times to go when it’s not as busy.
Gail, good job on getting that painting done! I love painting but have done all of my house so it will be a while before I tackle it again although I keep looking at my bedroom walls . . .. Take some advil to keep the swelling and pain down on your knee and leg – and rest!
SueBDew, wow, playing with four grandchildren – that will keep you busy!
Liz, congratulations on that new membership! I hope your membership card becomes all dull and scratched from lots of use . Yes, water and walking, both very good and easy on the joints.
Tammy, yes, unfortunately slow and steady is the way we roll around here . I know exactly what you mean – but believe me the time will go faster than you can imagine.
Tigress, mmmm, tea . . . I’m off to make some now. Skipped breakfast – really need to stop doing that.
Chris (Buddy’s Mom) – I’m outside of Philly too. For low impact I’d suggest trying a pilates/yoga type workout to start to improve strength and flexibility, then maybe add in some walking and weight training.
Nancy, swim, girl, swim! I’m amazed at how many swimmers we have. I guess I’m just not as water-oriented as some. DH was a lifeguard growing up and loves to swim too. It is very good exercise, especially as we age and need something kinder to our joints. Have fun! :flowerforyou:
Renny, don’t worry about the plateau – it will go after a time. Be patient – and maybe try increasing your exercise or change it up a little – if you haven’t been doing as much cardio maybe now’s the time to start. And yes, if you’re losing inches you are most definitely making changes. Don’t get discouraged! :drinker:
Laura, lol at being able to work in 2013 . I hope your poor DH is recovering. No way could I work a graveyard shift – my internal clock just doesn’t work that way. I hope you enjoyed your snuggle time with DH and Peanut.
JB, thanks for the poem. I hope it warmed your heart as ours .
LizC, welcome and good for you for getting back after the exercise! It is really hard to get your motivation back after taking a break – I agree. But you’ve come a long way, so don’t stop now!
Masch, I’m with you (see the start of my post waaaaaay back there lol). Actually, you can eat dinner early if you need to – maybe your salad you were going to have with your meal, or your steamed veggies. However, you might be like me and just need a substantial snack instead of a light one – in which case, why not have breakfast for your snack – a slice of toast with peanut butter and some scrambled eggs or a bowl of cereal? An idea anyway.
Karen, I've so been there - try not to think about nothing happening and just focus on the day. Your body is changing, believe me, even if the change is slow. So for today, you are going to exercise using xxx program. And you are going to eat yyy, and then you're going wake up tomorrow and you're going to do xxx again . . . and for the next part of your life. That's the fun part of this - it's not a "try it and see" - it's a lifestyle for how you're going to live. You're going to be active and healthy and be able to do fun things with your DH and play with any little people in your life and not be hampered by nagging pains and injuries because you'll be so much kinder to your joints because you have less stress on them . . . see how this works? :flowerforyou:
Tammy, hi and welcome. Oh, your poor puppy! I’m glad she’s better. You’re well on your way with a good attitude and good diet. I was in the same place in June when I started, and I’m still here now but with almost 40lbs less of me. It’s a great change.
OK, I have to focus now. I hope you all have a lovely day inside even if it’s as horrible as ours is outside.
Cheers,
M.0 -
JB--- I just saw everyone mentioning your poem, so went back to find it. Boy did I need that today. Thanks. Just printed it out for my fridge.

Today is going to be a great day! My brother got in last night, and I'll work on data entry until he calls to say he's up and wanting to do something. In reading through the posts, I'm awed by the grace with which so many of you handle health issues and other problems. It makes me realize how lucky I am, that things could be worse. I'm resolving right now to accept what is and be happy with what I've been given. Thank you!!
Meg – That’s terrible! I hate scammers. Can you get your computer unlocked, or is it ruined? We get a lot of those official-looking documents in the mail, telling us we have to pay an annual registration fee for our property or something similar. I’m sure a lot of people fall for this, which is just despicable. :noway:
Lila – Enjoy your day off! If I ever need to know about sewer treatment processes, I’ll know just where to go. Seriously, I’m glad your presentation went well and that you had good attendance.
Barbie – If you haven’t been to Victoria before, you’ll love it! And the Butchart Gardens are fabulous. I wasn’t there at Christmas, but I’ll bet it’s just amazing with lights.
Renny – Even walking a 10k sounds like a huge undertaking. Good for you in accepting the challenge – I know you’ll do great!
Sally – Congratulations on your loss, and on getting your exercise in. :flowerforyou: You are moving in the right direction!!!
Tammy – I’m glad your dog is better! Seizures don’t sound good.
Laura80111 – I’m glad that tech support was of help, so that you can move forward! I’m working on hubby’s year-end books here, too. I think it would be really hard to work nights if you aren’t used to it! My daughter does it all the time, but she’s young and has it as a regular schedule.
Karen from MI -- Hang in there! I lost the first 10 lbs. In about 6 weeks, but the next 5 lbs. took 5 months to come off. I’m sure that the beginning was easier because some of it was water weight, and I know that the holidays slowed me down quite a bit. Now I’m working on the next pound (take them one at a time!). It’s slow, but I know that it will move if I persevere! Yours will, too – just stick to it! :drinker:0 -
Good morning! I'm glad you liked the poem, I found it on an inspirational website that addresses weight loss. I thought it was a good one.
Today is Day 31 of the "Treetrunk" exercise challenge a couple of us gals are doing. If anyone would like to hop in and join us, feel free! What it entails is doing a few minutes a day of any type of exercise that you haven't been doing and know you should, like stretching, lifting weights, aerobics, walking, or what have you. Anything is fine. Start with 10 minutes the first day, increasing daily by 5 minutes the first week. 2nd week do 30 min daily. Increase to 35 the following week, 40 the next, etc. Or, just stay at a constant number of minutes even if it's just 10, as long as it's for the rest of your life. What we're trying to do is MOVE those bodies a little more than we normally would and commit to it daily. Each person sets their own pace. Keep track in your exercise notes and send me a private message (optional) if you need someone to be accountable to. It's called Treetrunk because we don't want our arms & legs to look like treetrunks! We want shape and muscle. A little combo routine works well. Marching in place, waving arms, maybe lifting weights or cans of soup up and down a bunch of times. I've added Yoga, strength training and aerobics to my normal daily walking dogs at the park. I do weights & strength one day, aerobics the next. It's also fine to skip a day, but just one day. I take Saturday off but try to walk dogs an extra long time.
Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday, I'm off to do my Treetrunk, make some turkey soup, then get ready to take the dogs out. Have to work early today. xo
