It's been an overrated conference since ESPN took a financial interest by getting the TV rights. They also have a financial interest in the Big 10+2.
Now, the top 2-3 teams in the SEC are typically solid, but the rest of the conference this year is trash.
Remember, ATM was a 5th/6th place Big 12 team. It took them a move to the SEC for them to win 10 games.0 -

What's scary about A&M is that nobody has really run that kind of offense with remotely elite level recruits or an elite o-line. The pontential is there if defensive recruiting can keep up and they can have a serviceable defense every year like this season. Current recruiting is kind of skewed by the sheer numbers in their class, but solid top of their class at worst.0 -

I think Georgia represented the SEC well this year and probably would have done a lot better then Florida last night.0

I must admit I enjoyed the Florida game yesterday. But as a Michigan fan, I can't really say much about SEC overrating this year (well I can, but then I must also admit to my own teams overrating, which I will not submit to logic and do).0

It is overrated. it would be difficult for the SEC to not be overrated. It's not their fault. They are not only touted as the best conference, but so far superior to all other conferences that ESPN can't fathom anyone beating any SEC team in any year (ok, that's some hyperbole, but still, the point is that SEC is given unrealistic expectations). And then LSU loses to Clemson, Miss St gets beat by Northwestern, Florida gets rolled by Louisville, etc. when prognosticators thought each would win by 1,000 points (again, hyperbole).
Media (especially ESPN) thinks the SEC resides somewhere between College football and the NFL, and it's just not true. So in that sense, they are overrated.0 -

Notre Dame is only undefeated because they had extra players on the field wearing black and white. The Pitt game is a prime example. Bad calls stripped away points from Pitt that would have won the game without OT. There are several other examples this season as well. Crooked refs = Notre Dame #1. ND doesn't have a chance against Alabama.0

Notre Dame has a chance IF they can hang with the 'Bama speed in the first quarter...Being about 10 minutes from Louisville I have been told how great U of L is and how they beat the #3 Gators and that the Gators were awesome...(ranked 114 in offense is not deserving of a #3 ranking)

Roll Tide Roll!! While I think that individual teams should get more respect than they do, as an overall conference, the SEC really is the best, consistently putting out a number of great teams year after year. I was rather disappointed in a lot of their's bowl performances, though. Other conferences have a few stars, while most of the SEC's teams are stars.
Alabama just has to win the National Title. Not just because I'm a huge Bama fan, but for the same reason others have stated here: I just wouldn't be able to stomach the 10 years of ND worship that would ensue if they won. They were lucky a lot more often than they were good this year.0 -

I said the SEC was overrated a few months ago and got laughed off the board. Now I was mostly just playing around for fun. But I was semi right.
