Thanks for the vote of confidence everyone....honestly I feel like I psyched myself out of it more than I couldnt do it. Like I said, I did fine with the 3 min run and then the 5 min run but then as soon as we started the walk I started freaking out about having to run again in 90 seconds or whatever it was...by the time it was time to run I had mentally checked out and told myself I couldnt do it. Today, I have a totally different outlook on it. I WILL NOT say I CANT anymore!
I plan on loading up on yummy energy prior to the gym (a little more than normal, not sure what yet though) I will mentally prepare better, I will stretch....hmm and my goal today is just to go further than I did last night.
I have been doing the brisk walks at 2.7mph and the runs at 4.5mph. Yesterday when I did the 5 min run I did it at 4.3 which seemed to be a better jogging pace for me but I find myself trying to speed up. Its weird, I get tired faster doing 4.3 than 4.5 because I feel my body trying to hold back? I dont know if that made any sense, sorry!
Ok done rambling, I will let everyone know how I do tonight, cross your fingers for me!!

5 pounds lost and another 2 1/2 inches gone from my body .WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!! I figured out what my problem was.I can't eat late at night because my body holds onto it for 2 or 3 days later before I expel it LOL:laugh:  And I have also increased my fiber intake from what I normally would have ate and I also notice (TMI I know) after it goes I lose weight as well.So I finally got what works for me again.YAY!!! I know I can continue down this path.0

I have never "shocked my Metabolism" before...what do you exactly eat? and how much over you calorie intake to you eat? because i am afraid of a weight gain..and i can't bare to see a gain..
one more question and that's it: Will i see much of a weight gain and how much of a gain to expect?
Thanks girl :flowerforyou:
For me, I just *PLAN* (key key key!) to eat a meal that equals probably what I normally eat in a day. :noway: Which means I probably go over my normal daily calories by about 500-1000 (just like Heather). Surprisingly, I've never noticed a big increase the next day (usually my shock meals are totally sodiumrific), but I ALWAYS have seen a better loss during the next week than I did the weeks prior. It's a very strange thing. Now, you don't want to go claiming to be "shocking your metabolism" once a week or more, but I think once a month or so isn't going to hurt you at all and may actually help. Plus, for me it's easier to forget about cravings. Like, lately I've been craving the sesame bean curd but every time I really want it I just think about how I'm going to get it next time I decide it's time to shock my metabolism. Then I feel better about it.
Thanks JIb and Heather for you educational advice :flowerforyou:
I have been working very hard...calorie and exercise wise..i calculated every crumb i ate and i exercise a minimum of an hour every day now...so i better see a weight loss this Friday. If not, then on Saturday is my Fat Meal...and hopefully with that meal i will be back to losing weight
Once again thanks for your wise advice0 -

No, You are not rambling just giving us the info on your progress.
about the speed of running verses walking..my running is 4.5 (now), before, at week 4, I was @ 3.7 mph (running) and walking was like 3.0 mph... my walking Now is like 3.7 - 4.0...which not to bad ( on the slow side but i am not that worried)
It all depends on how comfortable/challengeing you are on that speed...good luck to you and you will find you it...i know you will surpass week 4...once again Good Luck0 -

first and foremost, CONGRATES ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS :flowerforyou:
I think you and me experience the same thing...my body retains anything i eat at night, or anything i eat past 6 pm. so my cut off point is 6 pm...i have recently notice that. I am with in my calorie range but if i eat at night i find the next day a two pound gain. and it takes me 3 days to burn off my 2 pound gain..0 -
Cris: I know exactly what you mean about getting more tired at a bit slower pace. I'm long-legged and therefore have a long stride, so I've found my comfortable jog is about 4.5-4.6. Then again, my walk pace is typically 3.2-3.4. Eventually I'll work on getting my speed up, but I need to jump back on the wagon first.
Checking in for yesterday:
Calories: Over by 347
Sodium: 1393 over
Water: 16 oz.
Exercise: A one hour long walk around the neighborhood with my boyfriend.
Proud: That I didn't eat the ice cream I so badly wanted.
Hope you're all having a great day,
Heather0 -
Up at 4 am today.. Why? I have no darn clue.. As exhausted I have been and being sick, it should not have been a issue to sleep. So, now it is about 9:20 am I am tired.. but, can't sleep. I can't wait to get back on track.. sigh.....
Thanks mstahl for the words of encouragement. It is beautiful here today and will be most of the week! My husband was even able to ride his motorcycle to work this morning! So, I think I may just take one of the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood.
My stress level has been off the charts lately.. from car problems, teenagers, a couple BIG clients having financial issues (which in turn affect my bottom dollar), finances, to my sister mental state, my grandparents health state (they are in their 90's) and my husband not going to his diabetes education I am just not sure which end is up. I keep asking myself why I keep the weight of the world on my shoulders and all I have come up with is I like to keep in control of things... I am sure this stress is effecting the fact that my plateau is lingering.
My old Massage therapist whom I traded regular massage with moved in December and not only is 40 minutes way but has cut her schedule back so my regular self care has gone downhill! Good news is I am seeing a new Massage Therapist on Monday so, I have hopes that she will be a good one and we can start trading regularly.
Well.. I really should get back to work. I have some much needed work to get done around here! I will check back in later!

positively_me and heather: thanks for sharing your speeds with me, I was hoping someone would because I have not really found a 'comfortable' zone yet. I am well aware that my walking isnt "brisk" like it says to do but from the jogging portion I am so beat that I need to drastically reduce my speed. My plan is to finish the program (someday!) then work on time. I think I will stick with 2.7 walking and 4.5 running today and see if that works
Thanks for the advice!
Coloradogirl- I'm sorry you have so much going on! **BIG HUGS YOUR WAY**
Awestfall- Congrats! So happy for you!! :drinker:0 -

Dangit, I lost a post again. whats going on with MFP? :explode:
Anyway, I was commending Meokk on her post. I think we've all been there, and like Jlb says, loving youself really is the first step for everything else falling into place. We're not here to lose weight to satisfy strangers who make fun of us. We're here for our health.
Sorry I've been gone. I've been having a hard time at work and not feeling very energetic because of the blues. I'll get over it though, its just some people have been making me feel down and I'm stressedand worried. I know I'll be fine though because I made that first step a long time ago and I truely love myself now. What a difference it makes!0 -
I just wanted to tell everyone that I ran for 2 minutes straight at a pretty good speed yesterday.I haven't done that in forever.I know 2 minutes doesn't sound like much but to me it is.
I have never been a runner, or much of a walker for that matter. Im def the girl that used to drive from one end of the shopping mall to the other. :blushing: I still kind of struggle with the 2 min runs, so kudos to you!! You'll be back to that 8 mile run in no time! :drinker:0 -
Wow, eight mile runs? I wish. You guys are motivating me into wanting to finish the C25K program like right this second. Unfortunately I'm not usually as motivated once I get home in the evening.
My plan for this evening is to ride my horse after work because it's gorgeous here today! If I still have the energy left, I'll try to get either a C25K workout or a kickboxing workout in as well. I have a lot of things to be motivated for and lots to work toward with the size 10 jeans and the final weigh-in of my weight loss challenge coming up super fast.
Yay, it's almost lunch time because I'm hungry!0 -
first ...
congrats awestfall!
Hang in there marisami44, spring is coming and hopefully that will brighten our spirits!
I hope to join all you runners soon, I tried last year and it was just to hard on my knees, but I'm determined to try again. I used to love running.
checking in:
calories: BAD, BAD, BAD ... I don't know what my problem was, I've been so good until my birthday meal, and hoped to get right back on track ... but last night I hit the potatoe chips - 7 servings! while making supper ... I felt really ill all night.
exercise: good - did Y step in the morning, and this morning I tried out my new cardio kick DVD ... not as fun and didn't burn as many calories as a turbo kick class but I was still happy to get in my exercise for another day ... I'm on the 14th day straight!
water: not so good
proud: that I packed lunch this morning to try to get back on track0 -
Hi! Just checking in because I'm a MFP stalker LOL!
I brought turkey kiebasa and sauerkraut in to work today for our "Biggest Loser" meal. I am WAY up on the scale but I know it's water and what not! (ok -'poop' - from now on I shall use the euphenisim 'what not' LOL!) I show a 2lb loss from my weigh in last week but still - HUMPH!
Got to get back to work!0 -
I second that! I am not a runnier at all and y'all are making me want to try this program out! I might have to un freeze my membership to the gym and start it up. I learned that during the winter I will not go to the gym because I hate the cold so I froze my membership and started working out at home. Just might be time to hit the gym again! :happy:0
-
WOW, awestfall, Eight miles! I am more of a walker than a runner, but i recently started to like running thanks to the C25k program. I wish one day to say i ran more than 5 miles...i can't even run a full 3 miles..my max is 2.75, one day, i hope.
Cris, please hang in there - it will get much better.
Check in for today: 3/3/10
calories: under by 200...that's because we have no fruits...hubby's car broke down and he is using my car...i think we need to buy another car because this one is unfixable..ugh
exercise: one hour on the treadmill..burnt 650 calories
water: on my way
proud: I did one hour of exercise..even though my log is 40 minutes.0 -

So... After running outside on concrete Saturday and Monday and walking so much indoors on a concrete floor yesterday, my shins are hurting. I looked up symptoms of shin splints and yep, got 'em. :grumble: Glad I recognized the problem and researched it before I aggravated them more. Since I'm used to walking/running on a treadmill, I guess I need to start off running on a hard paved surface very slowly -- once a week isntead of 3 out of 4 consecutive days (insert *DOH* icon here). They're not too painful so I'm just going to be biking it up for the next few days and I'll skip my run tomorrow. One thing I learned from the knee pain I had several months ago is that "pushing through the pain" is a horrible idea.0

Shin splints are awful! I have had those! Feel your pain!0 -
I'm also a MFP stalker, so here I am checking in yet again.
I just went outside to get the mail here at work and I seriously considered going to my car and driving away. But, my purse is under my desk and it's not a good idea to drive without the driver's license that is in my purse. Darn logic gets in the way of all the fun! Two more hours...0 -
heather- AHAHAHAAH! I seriously just pictured you running away from work! HILARIOUS!
JLB- Im starting to re-think the "pushing through the pain". My left knee is seriously messed up and I am currently ignoring the pain and working through it...I hobble most of the day now
OK GIRLS ARE YOU READY?! I DID IT! OMG SERIOUSLY I ALMOST DIED (LITERALLY) BUT I DID IT!!! C25K W4D1 DONE DONE DONE :drinker:
My legs wanted to quit, god knows my knees where begging me to stop, but the lady on my podcast kept saying only 1 more minute and I kept going. When I was finally done I was drenched in sweat, was bright red (and I am tan so its hard to get red), and felt like puking. I was sitting in the gym locker room trying to get my self together and this lady kept asking me if I was ok and that I should eat something...I guess I looked as awful as I felt. I am gonna hop into a hot shower now to see if my muscles relax, I already iced my knee so hopefully I wont be in too much pain tomorrow. I honest to god cant imagine doing this again, but I dont have to worry about that until Friday :grumble:
be back later to check in!

Solandra - Good job on walking your route! Keep up the great work!
Momma2four - hope things smooth out for you and remember how much we care and how we're all pulling for you
Jess - I have never made it through a DVD workout. You did it with heavier weights - that's so inspiring!
Heather - I hope you got to ride tonight!
Awestfall - in case I didn't say this earlier - WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTT!!!!! on the loss you have earned it the old fashioned way - hard hard work.
Today I got to the dentist office early and had to kill time so rather than going to the coffee shop I went to the GoodWill store and found 3 skirts and a pair of pants I can wear to work! I bought size 14 Jones New York pants for $4 that won't fit for a month or so and two size 12 skirts that might not fit till summer but it was SO MUCH FUN looking at "regular sized" clothes! I found a nice pair of size 14 Lane Bryant jeans but I didn't buy them because I would rather wait till I can get into an Old Navy size 14 - isn't that funny? I love KNOWING I will be a smaller size. I love KNOWING I'm in this for the long haul and it WILL HAPPEN.
Checking in:
Calories - under by a couple hundred so I'll have a spoon full of peanut butter before I go to bed!
Water - spot on
Exercise - crunches and push-ups this AM and a brisk 45 minute walk at lunch.
Proud - that I didn't go to the coffee house - that I found some great bargains at GoodWill and purchased sizes too small for today
Not-proud - I uhm... I am weak. I had TWO glasses of wine tonight while reading by the fire. *hangs head in shame*:embarassed:0
