    IIFYM is crap

Would you like to make any attempt to clarify why? You would first need to demonstrate that you understand what IIFYM is, which you have yet to do.

Totally, because it's never worked for anyone. Ever.

That's why compliance with people who take "eating clean" too literally is so low - they classify foods into unreasonable categories and deprive themselves of their favorite foods. As the statement in bold implies, once macro and micronutrient needs are met, you can fill the remaining energy needs with whatever you wish. If I need additional energy, I will be reaching for ice cream, not celery.

No it just make perfect sense. Leave it to 90% of you to defend your fast food, Its typical and im not suprised one bit lol. No wonder americans are so over weight. SMH

I didn't defend fast food because I don't eat it often (notice I said often because I do eat it. Hell when I was in Key West I was having Wendy's every night at 2 a.m. In Mexico I enjoyed me some pizza and BLT's at 3 a.m. Sometimes TWO pizzas and a BLT! Hurt my results? *kitten* no! Make me happy because they were the bomb? Oh yeahhhhh.) however I have to agree with geekyjock76. The problem is that too many people fail at their diets or lifestyle change because they eliminate every "bad" food and end up with cravings and have a hard time sticking to their new agenda. The point is that it's ok to eat ice cream, McDonalds, pizza, chips, in moderation. It's not something that's good for you all the time and yes, if you eat take out every single night and are constantly over your calories then yes, you're going to gain weight but if you're within your calories and you choose to use the extra on beer, wine or cheesecake then go for it. It's not going to make a person not see results because they decided to indulge once or twice.

And for the record Americans are over weight because our portion sizes are bigger.

well then i guess you arent part of the 90% then are you..

But the majority of the people who are from the IIFYM camp/defending fast food aren't obese, Sir Dense A Lot.

My skier does that, we both go to the gym and work out butts off and after we of course are starving so we both go and get something to eat. I of course go and get something nutritious and 'good for me' but she usually gets hungry jacks or pizza or sorting like that. It doesn't bother me because in the one trying to lose weight and she doesn't need to lose a single gram/ounce. It is her choice and I must admit she has been the one who has supported me the entire way through my weight loss process. If people, want to work out then Eat junk let them go for it. It's their body not yours. I agree I don't want to put processed crap in my body but in a way I'm so jealous of those thin/lean/skinny people that can eat as much crap as they want and stay the same weight (like my sister) because I can't do that.

Would you like to make any attempt to clarify why? You would first need to demonstrate that you understand what IIFYM is, which you have yet to do.

TMW is also a bad example, they eat "dirty" foods regularly (just look at any recent videos).

Sure, I'll watch the Hodge Twins. Tell me if you believe the Hodge Twins are a good resource for nutritional information while we're at it.

And you can check out Layne Norton. This is only 1:15 or so.

Layne trains professional bodybuilders and is also a champion bodybuilder.

Layne is a research scientist as well and has multiple degrees in relevant fields.

Layne favors IIFYM and I know first hand in addition to this video one of his students, who is a friend of mine, is on IIFYM during competition cutting. (For the upcoming show that most people know as the Matt Ogus vs Chris Jones showdown).

You absolutely need intelligent macros set up and can't just eat random *kitten*. The people who are doing IIFYM correctly are:

    a) Using intelligent macro set-ups that are "bodybuilder-like". (That's a dumb phrase but it's all I could come up with to explain what I mean).
    b) Eating "mostly" bro foods.
    c) Using a small bank of discretionary intake so they can fit a few treats into their diet.

What a dumb thing to get upset about. Are you actually following people to check for integrity in their food choices just so you can come online and talk ****? Live and let live ... this community is for support, not gossip!! Get a life!!
