Good morning, ladies:
mstahl: I have another book suggestion for you. I've started Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series about vampires. The books are the basis of the HBO series True Blood. The books are entertaining and they are for adults, but the books are fairly short, so easy to read. They're great if you don't mind reading about vampires! There are seven books in the series with an eight one coming out in May.
Jess: Congrats on starting C25K. That's awesome!
Cris: I'd definitely consider making someone sleep next to stinky me if he sat watching TV while I busted my butt. We're so similar, it's scary!
Checking in for yesterday:
Calories: 86 calories left over
Water: 64 oz. (This is huge for me since I'm not a water drinker. I don't think I can hit 80 oz. in a day)
Sodium: Over by 500
Exercise: None
Proud: That I got compliments from five people at my meeting yesterday about my weight loss.
I have already logged my food for today's meals and have it on my schedule to exercise when I get home from work today before making dinner. I almost got up this morning at 5:30am because I was wide awake, but my cats jumped on the bed and cuddled with me and I couldn't pass up a sweet morning snuggling with my children!
Hope you're all having a good day!

Hello everyone,
I have not logged on in a couple days so i have not read any post Yet but i am going to now...
Be back later0 -
Mornin' ladies.
TOM's starting to rear his ugly head today. But the good news is that even with all of the (I still can't get over that it's actually visible) bloating, I weighed 211.6 this morning which is what I weighed last Friday. Feeling pretty good about that because that Mexican food and the Chinese food sure was delicious.
It's like I can actually see a difference with each little pound now. Before I was like "Okay, I've lost 20 pounds and I look the same." But now every single week I can see the difference. It's weird. Every week my collar bones and hip bones stick out a little more. Every week I can feel more muscle definition in my legs, every week my pants fit more loosely. This last 60 pounds is going to make such a huge difference!
Happy Tuesday, everyone!0 -
The 2 pound gained fell off! FINALLY!! I don't know what it was but it's gone! Made my morning off to a great start. Thought I would share it with you ladies! I'm off to eat breakfast. Be back later I'm sure!0

Good morning!!!
I saw a 225 on the scale this morning, but cant record anything until Friday, but I am sooo praying to make this first mile stone. My long term goal is to lose 105lbs (ending weight 150) My short term goal is to be at 200lbs (55lbs loss) by June 30th which is our 6 year anniversary. At 225lbs I will be half way to my short term goal of 200! So thats my first BIG milestone. I hope this is the week!!!
mstahl- Ive been known to sub beers for dinner. :blushing: eh, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Ive only done it twice but I figure its better to drink the beers, instead of drink the beers plus a dinner. Not healthy..I know. As for the tv thing. BF can not live without it. He needs his sports on 24/7. We moved this past summer and he made us sleep in sleeping bags at the old house until cable had been installed in the new house! Yea...
jlb- YAY! I am so glad that your little splurge had minimal to no effect on your weight! Congrats!
Bluenote- hope your knee feels better soon!
Tiger- I hate when I walk into daycare and have to sign those reports. My son has been biting this one little girl lately but shes a really big brat, sorry she is. I dont think its ok that he is biting her, but knowing her, she did something to instigate it.
Heather- yea, we are very similar Look at your sodium! Thats awesome usually u are over by a lot! And great job on the water!
Jess- Congrats on starting the c25k! Now you wont think Im typing nonsense when I do my excercise check in, Good luck! I noticed a increase in weight loss when I started the program so hopefully you will too!
Have a good day everyone, Im sure Ill be lurking around

That's a good recommendation hajohnson24 ... I haven't read them myself but made the mistake of buying two for my 16-yr old daughter. The first one I checked through fairly thoroughly to make sure there wasn't any s.e.x. and it was fairly clean. She really enjoyed it so I bought another one without looking closely ... she was shocked at what was in the book ... and I was embarrassed because she lent the book to friends too before she told me about it! So sounds like they are fun books, but some for adults only ... (although at 16 I'm not too worried about having let her read it - she's probably seen worse in movies and on TV).... or in some of my romance novels that she has perused have plenty of s.e.x. in them too.
mstahl: I love the J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts pseudonym) futuristic murder/romance mystery series, and any Nora Roberts books ... but not sure if your husband would enjoy those or not.0 -
calories: over by 685 ... but could have been worse ... I subbed dinner with chips & dip ... but at least I didn't eat dinner too
exercise: not great - didn't do the 45 minute walk that I had planned, but did do 20 minutes
water: good ... about 72 oz.
proud: that I didn't make matters worse by eating dinner after my snack binge
Have a great day all!0 -
About to head off to my walk... also - today is the last day for my VS bra. It's a battered 38 D and it's now sitting about half way up the girls. Between their shrinkage and some missing back fat I think I need to invest in a 36C...:grumble: I hate having to spend money on a bra I hope to out-grow soon!0

Oh dear! You just made me snort out loud at work, istpaul. :laugh:0 -
Hi guys. Been feeling a little down and behind, but I'm slowly making my way back down to 240. I want to be in the 230's so bad. *sigh* Anyway, i promised I'd check in yesterday so I forced myself to write down my calories and complete the entry! I've been terrible with snacking, but I didnt go over yesterday.
Calories: Ate all of them plus a few exercise ones
Water: Great
Exercise: Hour and a half of walking.
Proud: I'm sticking to this even though I'm starting to lose a little bit of enthusiasm.0 -

I have the opposite problem! Mine keep growing and I can't find anywhere to buy a sportsbra in my size. But congrats on needing to get a smaller size! That's always great news!0 -
lstpaul: I'm also a huge Nora Roberts fan. I have almost an entire bookshelf full of her stuff. I'm a bookaholic though, so I have a TON of books and keep collecting more.
I'm also loosing my chest area and I'm actually bummed about it. It's always been a part of my body that I loved! Grr. My boyfriend says he's okay if they get smaller because it will mean I'm healthier and that's what matters to him. Isn't he sweet?
So, the really odd thing with being up almost three pounds is that I feel smaller but it can't be muscle because I haven't been exercising. I'm almost thinking my body is strangely morphing in shape. Things that make you go "hmm"0 -
i just stumbled on this motivational article and I was going to copy an excerpt to share with you all, but it wouldn't let me do a copy - so here is the link if you are interested in a little pep talk about getting out of our 'comfort zones' ...
http://surewayweightloss.com/comfortzone.html
I really need to find a way to motivate myself to get out of my comfort zone and the weight loss funk I've been in for the past few months. I'm going to do the exercise in the article, and will draw my comfort zone circle. In the circles outside of my comfort zone are:
1. exercise EVERY day - even on my own when I can't go to the Y (I've been working on this the past couple of weeks and doing fairly well - but need to keep it up)
2. plan my meals to:
a) plan ahead to better stay under my calorie limits
b) incorporate more protein, vegetables and fruit into my diet
c) have less 'bad' fats and sugar
3. have a healthy snack at my worst time of day ... when I'm just home from work and starting to make supper
4. stop eating when I'm full - so that I'm comfortable with satisfied instead of overly full
5. find an alternative to food when I want to do emotional eating (sad, bored, 'I deserve' triggers)
I'm going to tackle these things - I'm working on #1 now and pledge to work on #3 starting today. I'm going to make this drawing and try to use it to motivate me, just thought I would share in case anyone else would be motivated by this too. :flowerforyou:0 -

I have also noticed some weird body morphing ... my weight has stayed the same for the last few months (or close to the same), but my legs, butt and chest are smaller ... but unfortunately I think I have more in the middle now. I'm hoping when I start losing again it will be from my belly first.0 -
HOLY SODIUM BATMAN! I just ran to subway for lunch and I knew it would be high in sodium but good god! It was like 1,400mg of sodium for a 6in turkey sandwich! I am not a happy camper...water wil be my BFF today! :grumble:
Istpaul- Thanks for the link. I totally agree with stepping out of comfort zones. I have NEVER had this much success with weight loss before and I really think my big numbers lately are attributed to the c25k program. I hate hate hate running. So its completely out of my comfort zone. I feel awkward when I run, I am in pain, and I sweat (which I also hate:laugh: )
As far as body transformation- I feel like my clothes arent fitting on me much better. Its discouraging to me. Granted they are slightly loose but I thought that they would be way baggy after 30lbs lost. But noooo. I can visually see that I am thinner though, so I dont get it...whatever.
Be back later to bother u all
Cris0 -
Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement and I am actually feeling much better today. Now if I could just get up off my hind end and exercise I would be doing way better.I have ate horrible for the past few days and despite that I am back down to 234 this morning which Friday I was 237 because of TOM so a few nmore pounds and I will be back to what I weighed last week.I just have to give up binging like I have been during my period which is bad.I can do this and I will I refuse to spend another summer fat.0

Hello ladies...sorry i have been MIA for a while.
I don't know why i can't get my but in gear, i have been in this place and i don't want to be here but the last few months i just keep coming back to this place.
This week will be my like 4the "getting my but in gear" week..>Hopefully it will be the last.
Doing pretty good so far, under my cals yesterday and doing good so far today. It was beautiful outside i went and walked but got very upset with myself. I want to walk and run, my body apparently just doesn't. The path I am taking is about a mile. About 1/2 way through my ankes and calf just hurt soo bad. I did run for a whole 40 seconds out of my 20 minute walk.
I have been loosing/gaining this same 7 lbs for 2 months...being stuck right in the middle at about 285 sometimes down to 283 but then back to 290....hoping i can get out of this rut and loose some weight.0 -

As for hovering around the same weight - a few of us are in the same spot as you - and I think a BIG part of the battle is to keep showing up here and talking about the frustration and reading about what others are doing to get through it and trying different things until you find out what YOU need to do...
For me? I've been bad. Not so bad that I'll gain weight - but too bad to get back on a serious losing streak. I need to cut back on my calories and get to a steady state. My daily net calories are all over the chart - one day I'm over by 700 the next day I'm under by a few hundred and over all I've been averaging up near my maintenance! No wonder I'm not losing! Some of you are dead on down low and not losing either so I suspect the "right" path is down the center - eating at least half our exercise calories and being careful not to over estimate our exercise calories!
I had chipotle today. I got a naked burrito but it was still crazy high in sodium and calories! Tonight we're meeting my sister at our favorite bar and grill (hell I keep writing that - OK our favorite bar and grill is called Ray's Place - we used to go there about once a month now it's more like every few days - ARGH!) I'm light years ahead of where I've ever been before because I'm really exercising hard (sweaty which I HATE) and I've really changed my life but I'm wasting time if I don't get down and dirty and cut out the extravagant calories!
Awestfall - I was thinking about what you said about being thin for summer. I think that our new beautiful bodies are just the "ice cream" reward. You know - like when your team wins the big game and the coach takes everyone out for ice-cream? It's not the goal - it's the special little token prize that comes along with meeting your goal. The REAL prize is our new energy, our new health, teaching our families new healthy habits... So we are WINNING the game - it's just not time for the ice cream yet cause there are a few more innings to go! You see the score - you see your body getting stronger and your energy getting better and your family eating healthier foods... And pretty soon if you keep up the work you'll get your ice cream!!! I promise!0 -
What's with all the talk about ice cream? I will do whatever it takes to get ice cream! Haha.
Wow, I'm lacking motivation at work today.0 -
did someone say ice cream?
   :laugh:0 -
Just stopped by to say hi!
mmmm I'll take a scoop of mint chip about now... On the topics of books I'm a huge Mary Higgins Clark fan. She writes all murder mystries if anyone is interested in checking them out. They are excellent reads for teens. I'm trying to get over a head cold, not much of an appetite and no enery for exercising. Some time we just have to have down days. Have a great rest of your day.0 -
I had some chocolate frozen yogurt with active cultures and cut up fresh strawberries last night and. it. was. AWESOME. So awesome I've done everything I can to rearrange calories today so I can have it again.
But um, yeah. What mstahl said -- looking good is just a really nice side effect of being healthy! Focusing on health is really what keeps me going. I'm just not vain enough to care enough about how I look to make so many changes and stick with them. I get up 30 minutes early to ride my bike EVERY day. I would NEVER (and have never) get up 30 minutes early to dry my hair and put on make up. I'd sure look better every day if I did... but I definitely don't. I rarely even wear make up or dry my hair to go out ot eat or go out with friends. I just don't care enough for my image to be my main motivator (people around me are just lucky I care enough to put on clothes before I leave the house). Other people do care more about their appearance & that's fine (I'm not trying to say I don't care at all, because of course I do, that's obvious. I'm just saying I don't care enough for it to be a huge motivator)
I yam what I yam.0 -
Just noticed that I missed most of the posts from Monday. Chris great article on water! The recommended 64 oz. is an adequate amount for liver/kidney function to my understanding. Did your article give any specifics on oz.?0

MARY HIGGINS CLARK WAS MY FAVORITE GROWING UP!!1 I think I read every single one of her books so I moved on...lol0 -
Jlb: I'm the same way. I rarely wear makeup or dry my hair, but when I do wear makeup, people always comment on how great I look. Just think, if they got used to seeing me with makeup and then I didn't wear it one day, they would think I looked terrible or that I was sick. We have to leave them wanting more!0

Yes, you never hear about Subway's sodium levels in those commercials, do you? I've fallen down that hole myself, cris. I know how you feel.
I'll take two scoops of peanut butter and chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone, please! I LOVE ICE CREAM!
I finally bought greek yogurt to try, since some of you talk about it being so great. I will eat it with some honey tomorrow for lunch. I think I may throw in some Fiber One for the crunch! Thanks for the suggestion!
I weighed myself this morning (for another thread) and I was the same weight that I was on Friday. Now, I know this is normal and no big deal for you guys, but for BIG BIG VERY BIG me it kind of scares me. I don't want to panic, but I can't see what I did wrong to not have lost at least a pound since Friday. All of this slow weight loss is so new to me. I have to stop worrying, I know, but I was on a good roll there for quite a while! I don't want to stop like I did in December.0 -
check in:
cals: under by 100
water: 64 and counting
exercise: 40 bike, 10 hard bike, + arms
proud: that I didn't throw in the towel when I saw that I did not lose today. The old Nancy would've said, "Screw it," and ate four candy bars.0 -
