Starvation mode is not a myth - WARNING!!!

Starvation mode is true people. There are people dropping every minute as they have been either fasting or waiting too long to eat after a workout. You must eat during your workout to avoid this unfortunate condition. I would recommend taking a 3 course meal into the weights room with you. Starter following your warm up, main course mid workout and some cake following your cool down. Too many people are suffering and further pain must be avoided at all costs.
One gym has decided to set up a food stall next to the squat rack following the death of 3 starvation mode athletes in the last 8 days. Hungry athletes were tucking into chicken curries, pastas and bagels between sets.
Be careful people don't say I didn't warn you!!!

:-) im ok, theres a KFC next to my gym :-)0

Thats great and all, but everyone comes in here stating that it is and that it isnt. If youre going to make big claims like that, you need to back it up with scientific proof. And by that I mean linking to real references, not some guys blog.0

I hear they are trialling a needle bar in some places. When you feel yourself waning, you just pop over and they fill you up. They are being sensible and keeping it away from the food bar though...Food Hygiene reasons0 -

If you're waiting until after your workout to eat, or even during your workout to eat, it may be too late. It takes about 30 minutes for your body to start absorbing protein so mix your prework out drink with a protein shake and drink it 30 minutes before your work out. Some people drink protein shakes in between sets. They're at risk of starvation mode during their sets. Just to be safe, make sure you sip your protein shakes between reps. My friend tried to do a set of 5 squats but he died on the third one of starvation because he didn't eat/drink a protein shake in between reps. So sad :sad:0

I kept a pack of 4 cooked 'skinny lizzy'* sausages next to the squat rack last time just in case.
Made sure I munched them down the second I finished to get in the right 'window'.
I'd already eaten the other two of the six pack before hand to ensure I was fully sorted.
Better safe than sorry, I say... some people reckon it's just a myth... but how many have thought that then actually died? They're not around to say "I'm sorry, I was wrong" if that's the case!
'True story' - though my 'gym' is at my work unit and no one else was around.
I almost ate one after doing deadlifts. Then thought, "oh, still got pull ups and don't want extra weight!". Then I added a 6kg dumbbell between my knees for the pullups.
Bit silly, me.

There was something like this set up in our gym a little while back, but it was Chick-Fil-A. The only people hitting it up were the rather muscular guys, and the...more than slightly out of shape. Everyone on a treadmill was looking at them as if they were handing out free plague.0 -

I'm going to find a way to use "tucking in" every day from now on.0

Starvation mode is easy to avoid. When you see your health bar get down to 1/3rd and it starts blinking go step on a medkit (the white box with the red + on it) and it'll restore 25 health points. They respawn every 30 seconds so you can just keep doing that to keep your health high enough to stay out of starvation mode.0

Well, I don't know about all this fluff, but I will say, since drinking a protein shake at home after a lift day, I don't have the soreness I used to have.
Plus by that time I'm running late to work, so drinking and getting ready for work is about all I have time for... until the next feed about 2-3 hours later0 -
