I weigh twice a week. I am one of those kind who obsesses over the scale so I force myself not to look between the two weigh-ins.
I'm really busy this week - big big singing week for me - so I apologize for not commenting like I normally do. I am reading all of your posts, though, and want you to know I am thinking about you all! I'm off to a rehearsal which will last until midnight or so, so here is my check in:
cals: OK but over on sugar
water: 90
exercise: should be my day off but I did ten mins. of vigorous bike & ten mins of walking
proud: Today was my first day back to school from break, and I had many teachers comment on my weight loss! It made me feel really good!0 -
Hi,
I was awol over the weekend, too many commitments but I did OK.
Dinner party on Saturday night put me over the top by about 400 cals but sunday was good, under exercise. Good water both days and 30 day shred on one, walking on the other.
Jess & Cris - I have 3 pairs of unworn size 18s that I will happily ship your way. 2 wide leg jeans and one pair black cotton pants, all Gap. Who wants what???
Coming soon - more pairs of 18s (I'm still wearing the smaller ones along with my 16s)
Anyone else - I have 3-4 pairs of unworn size 20's that I'll ship your way - any takers???
You can send me a MFP email if you prefer.
I don't mind paying for the shipping myself I hope that somebody might send me some 14s in a few months when I'll need them. I have size 16s and can wear them now but I chucked all my smaller sizes after I hadn't worn them in over 5 years.
WEIGH INS - I weigh myself about 5 times per week, I generally don't log the weight except for on Friday (unless I get a really low reading  ) The fluctuations don't bother me. I only ever weigh in the morning right after I wake up and go to the bathroom.
Hey, Colorado Girl - I like this calculator that they have on self.com, you can input all sorts of activities including yard work and gardening to get a calories burned number:
http://www.self.com/calculatorsprograms/calculators/caloriesburned/circuit_training/result?weightPounds=197&duration=40&activity=&met=8.0&submit=
Hey Jesyka - Can I just do the shred??? please???? that online workout looks HARDER!!!!!
I have been doing the shred for a few weeks now and even though I can't do every move perfectly I just do what I can and keep moving, that way I burn a good amount of calories. You can do it toO!!!!!! :drinker:0 -
OMG
So, I made sloppy joes for dinner (96% lean beef, 8oz can of no salt added tomato sauce, some brown sugar, & spices - yum!) and I made Heather's parmesan crusted sweet potato fries (AWESOME!) & steamed broccoli as sides.
Well, I was just in the kitchen and there were a few fries leftover. Suddenly a brilliant idea hit me -- dip the fries into the homemade greek yogurt.
And OH MY. Amazing.
Seriously. Do it.0 -
After my horrendous weekend and with my Grand daughter coming in for Spring break I thought I'd try for a nice negative calorie day today and tomorrow... And THEN LittleSpy has to suggest dipping Heather's fries into Greek yogurt.
Hmph.:grumble:
(one potato couldn't hurt!?!):ohwell:
Calories - under 1000 (mostly exercise calories)
Water - still working on it
Exercise - W3D3 5K101, reminder of 45 minutes walking, circuit training (upper body only) at the Rec center before work, and 38 minutes on the elliptical machine doing one of the pre-programed workouts (didn't realize that part worked!)
Proud - that I finally got back on the elliptical machine. It seems to have started working now that its warmed up in the garage! The resistance is working and the pre-programs will run! COOL! (actually freaking HOT I'm soaked.... dang spring weather:grumble: )
Meghan gets here tomorrow afternoon and she's staying until Sunday. We're madly digging out what we are pretty sure is a spare bedroom. So far we have found about 400 lbs of vinyl and 4 record players, stuffed animals from my college dorm room in 1985, a box with a dog collar from the dog I had when I was little, a really ugly dressing table, a plant stand/baby changing table that has law-suit written all over the cheap shelves, some beautiful size six formals (I don't remember ever fitting into a size six?) and lots of DUST! Hopefully she'll see the possibilities! I feel like we're on one of those "did you know your neighbor's a hoarder" TV shows. OH MY!0 -
Just stopping in briefly to check in ... I skimmed the last few days of posts but missed a lot. I've got an icky work problem going on that I worked on a lot of the weekend (and also did my taxes ... ick ... but not quite as bad as I was afraid of). I don't have the work problem solved yet so it is likely to be too busy at work for me to check in much - but I need to make the time to track ... I haven't tracked since last week and I've had a couple of bad restaurant dinners in a row - so I really need to get focused and back on track. Have a good night everyone!
Thanks Momma for the nudge to log in! :flowerforyou:0 -
Checking in for today
3/29
Calories: 1132....I had a little piece of chocolate so I'm not sure how much that was so I'm sticking to 1132
Water: 14 glasses
Sodium: 1103!! Awesome!!
Exercise: 40 minutes on the treadmill including w3d2 of c25k

03-29-2010 Check in
Calories-Way under
Water-101oz
Exercise-minimal...counting my housework today :blushing:
Proud-Got a friend to join MFP today, lost another 4oz and 3.3lbs of body fat, and my baby girl started smiling for the first time today:bigsmile:
Meokk- LOL I'd settle for almost being able to do a push up...I get one done and I almost face plant cause my arms can't handle it  & don't push yourself, Anyone, with this weeks challenge, giving it a try is all I ask
Mstahl-I have a serious nostalgia issue...takes me FOREVER to go through anything cause I sit and reminisce through it all LOL...I'd own the hoarders show, and I've only made it through 21yrs of life:laugh:
Istpaul- Sorry to hear you're having problems at work, hope you're able to get it all cleared up soon and are able to get back on track with everything0 -
Where is the challenge? I can't find it anymore.
Rehearsal was terrible. I went back to school today and since I did not run my air purifier for the entire week I was off, the mold was through the roof in my classroom (I had to buy a $500.00 air purifier because my school denies there is a mold problem in our school and I keep getting really sick there). It was so bad today that we saw it growing on the walls. I'm severely allergic to mold, so staying in that room all day caused me to lose my voice, which caused me to really embarrass myself at my singing rehearsal. I feel like a loser. But the good news is I did not shove bad food in my mouth to self-medicate. I am, though, going to take tomorrow off to lay in bed and hopefully when I go back Wed. the room will be much better because the purifier will have run all day today, tomorrow, and through the end of this week. :ohwell:0 -
BlueNote- we have the same thing in one of our corner offices. I work in the lower level of a building so the back is below the ground and mold grows against the back wall. The building people can't find it, or identify it or whatever so other than putting blowers by the wall to dry it (and blow all the mold around) they don't do anything. We've kinda joked that whom ever gets promoted to manager is going to sit in the sick office. Unfortunately it seems to be true!
Sorry you got sick on Easter week! This has to be a busy time for you!
I was awake much of last night in a battle of wills with a dog. Mrs. Fig was thirsty (dis dawg food is quite dwry ya know) and wanted out of her crate, I was determined to nip this midnight "I wanna drink" thing in the bud (she'd just started this about two weeks ago). Every hour on the hour she'd start this little tiny puppy yip - like what you get from an 8 week old baby tiny puppy - but of course Mrs. Fig is 140 lbs so how she could even make the 'I'm a widdle baby wis a dwy froat' sound is beyond me. She's up and hydrated now and fussing to come inside (you encourage drooly mastiffs to drink outside when ever possible). I guess tomorrow night we'll try to wake her up to get a drink before she goes to her crate but waking up a sleeping mastiff is easier said than done!MEGHAN
COMES TODAY!
MEGHAN
COMES TODAY! (I hope she has a good visit this week) MEGHAN COMES TODAY:bigsmile:

Bluenote Challenge is...
Alright, so since I'm new at this challenge bit I kinda cheated lol. I was first thinking with all the talk this week about the 30 day shred I'd make the first circuit our challenge, but then thought that not everyone will have her video...Then I started searching.
I've found this cardio blast workout...It seems a fair amount like the 30 day shred. It's about a half hour work out and I figure it will be quite a challenge if applied the same way Jillian does, push yourself as hard as you can handle, without taking any breaks.
Accomplishing this full workout all at once, without the breaks should be enough of a challenge this week, But I'd also like to throw in making sure we all get at least our 8 glasses of water as recommended [taking from topics mentioned this week]
Here's the link.. http://exercise.about.com/library/blcardioblast.htm
Sorry to hear about the MOLD issue.. I would have to quit. I can not tell you how allergic to mold I am. I feel for you! It just never ceases to amaze me what people will ignore or be oblivious to.
Mstal Glad to to here you are so excited about meghans visit but, sorry to hear about your BIG Mastif trying to act like a little puppy wimper.. mommy I want a drink...
Jeska.. wow.. another 3.3 lbs.. you are smoking! GREAT job!
Jess.. glad to hear your workouts are going well! With all that work you will be skinny mini in no time!
lstpaul.. hang in there.. we all have times where we need a kick in the pants! I have faith in you. Sorry to hear about your work problem. Keep your chin up!0 -
positively-Way to go on not giving in on the cravings! I'm going through the same thing yesterday. I gave into one little piece of chocolate but didn't have anymore. Was quite proud of myself! way to stay on track! You don't need the yucky food!!
bluenote-Sorry to hear you are sick. Hope you get some rest and get to feeling better! It's crazy how so people do or ...don't deal with the mold issue. We had it in my apartment once. Rest up!
mstahl-So excited for Megan to be coming!! I'm sure you will make lots of progress unburrying the bedroom! Enjoy your time with her!0 -
Postively.. I am thrilled to hear you are working so hard and your will power is getting better each day! Great job!
I am a bit on the TENDER side today.. That yard work yesterday kicked my butt. However, I plan on taking some Advil, drinking lots of water.. doing some yoga and maybe even take a hot bath with apple cider vinegar and Epson salts and then digging back in .. quite litterally! But 1st I have to go to work this morning! On a good note I woke up refreshed again this morning and am welcoming the day!0 -
Jess- I weigh myself first thing in the morning, everyday, after the visit to the bathroom..lol and before i forget...way to go for stopping at one piece of chocolate..YOU GO GIRL!!!
Litspy: you found one more thing to use greek yogurt...i am glad you are enjoying the fruits of your labor..lol
Bluenote: i aam sorry to hear about your mold issue...get some rest and hopefully when you get back to school it will be all gone..
Mstahl: i hope Meghan reaches safe and sound, enjoy her visit.
Coloradogirl: sorry to hear your very tender, but look at the bright side - you must have burnt lot of calories...You go girl
also, can you send the sun my way..it has been raining for the past four days...i am kinda getting tired of it..ugh
Have a great day girl! I will beback..my son wants to eat his breakfast...0 -
03.29.10
Calories: 1411
Exercise: 12 minute run, 8 minute walk (stopped due to injury)
Water: about 11 cups
Proud: Hey, guess what! I'm still here! We're really doing this, ladies!
Pos_Me -- yes ma'am. Can you believe... I'm almost out of yogurt already? I made a quart but after I strained it I had like a pint.... and then after I ate almost all of that pint, it was almost all gone.
Blue - so sorry about the mold! My last office building had mold. I would start hacking and coughing the second I walked in there. It was gross. & then we were on the west side of the building so every afternoon the sun would come beating down into the walls that were solid glass & it would get so hot & so stinky & uggggghhhhh. One of the many many many reasons I'm so happy I don't work there anymore! Hope you feel better soon!
mstahl - Ms. Fig sounds like a hoot! My dogs can make the strangest noises, too. I have 2 95 pound greyhounds (or as the neighborhood kids call them, "camels") who can make the most pitiful tiny puppy noises I've ever heard. Then, next thing you know, they're trying to talk, then they're rooing, then they're barking a bark that could scare the bejesus out of anyone. Silly pups. Have fun with your Meghan!0 -
I saw 228 this morning 3 times in a row!! WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!! I am so excited!!! I am in the 220's again finally.0

Good morning!
Littlespy: I'm glad you enjoyed the fries AND found another use for your Greek yogurt. That's awesome. I can imagine it would be good, since you're using Greek yogurt as a sour cream substitute and I LOVE sour cream on fries. Hmm, sounds like I need some Greek yogurt...
Mstahl: I'm excited for you that Meghan will be there today. I'm sure you two will have a great week together and you guys can start brainstorming how you're going to decorate her room. Fun!
Jess: Way to go on your crazy workout. C25K and bicycling? You're a machine, lady!
Jesyka: That's so awesome that your baby started smiling! How adorable. Good job on getting a friend to join MFP, too!
Checking in for yesterday:
Calories: 117 over
Sodium: 1117 over (yikes...darn buffalo wings!)
Water: 16 oz.
Exercise: None
Proud: I didn't have ice cream when I wanted it oh so bad.
Last night I was naughty and ate buffalo wings then didn't go for the walk we were planning on. I'm kicking myself for it, too, since the full moon was so bright and gorgeous. I don't usually waste full moons, but I was so exhausted that I took a warm shower and went to bed early. I think my busy weekend caught up with me.
Have a great day!
Heather0 -

Heather-mmmm....wings sound so good! hope you had some for me! :drinker:
colorado-I always see a little soreness as good news. Means you worked hard and are working new muscles. Way to not let it get ya down!
Does everybody here make their own Greek Yogurt or does anybody buy it on their own? I bought some organic stuff a few weeks ago and couldn't eat it. Was waaaaay too bitter tasting for me! I saw a coupon for the Dannon kind but not sure if that is very healthy or not! Thoughts?0 -

Amazing! The scale is heading in the right direction...keep it up girl! Hard work does pay off
EDIT: for grammar...0 -

I do both. My favorite commercial greek yogurt, taste-wise is Fage 2%. It's AWESOME. But, yes, it tastes like sour cream.
I also like Oikos (which I'm thinking may be what you bought) but it has so many different yogurt cultures it does have a little bitter aftertaste. But... it's better for you because it has so many different cultures.
All greek yogurt is pretty tart, though.
My thoughts on Dannon are just read the ingredients. They have a few yogurts with absolute CRAP ingredients, so just watch it. Oikos' ingredient list is like milk, sugar, honey, and active yogurt cultures. Fage is similar. I like it like that.No HFCS plus aspartame plus sucralose, plus artificial color nonsense. Just real food (I say as I drink diet Mountain Dew.... :grumble:  Darn diet sodas get me. ).

It was Oikos! LOL I think I got just the original flavor though so I was thinking of trying a flavored one. Maybe it's an accquired taste like beer!:drinker: I had seen you post something like that about the Dannon before and so I didn't think it was any good. Thought I would ask! Maybe I will give the Fage a try!0 -

To be fair, I haven't looked at the dannon greek yogurt. Maybe it has better ingredients than some of their other yogurts. I'll take a look at it tonight if I can find it.
And you should definitely try Fage. It's sooooo good. I'm borderline obsessed with it, I think.
Oh, and I randomly found a chocolate Oikos I thought was amazing. I think it still had the bitter aftertaste, but the cocoa covered it up well. I found it at one Walmart that's really very inconveniently located for me, but I can't find it anywhere else! I refuse to go get into the mess of that one humongous and overcrowded Walmart just to get moe though. I despise that side of town on so many levels. :laugh:0 -
Good Morning Girls,
Ann, so glad you saw 228 today. YAY you!!!!!
I HATE one of my favorite cousins. She made homemade chocolate candy with walnuts in it and I am inwith it. She knows I am trying to lose weight..:grumble: :grumble: I think she really meant it for my children. But it keeps calling me, by my first name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a taste today. Okay I lied I had a peice. today. Now I will have to adjust all my calories for the day so that I do not go over. Yesterday was my wedding anniversary, and I had dinner all planned out then hubby changed my plans and it caused me (or I should say I caused my self to over endulged at dinner) to go over on my calories at dinner. What is wrong with all these people they all want me to lose weight soooo bad because it is unhealthy then they are helping me to eat poorly. My own fault I need to use my own brain and my own will power and do good for me!!!! I do not understand my husband. I was HOT( yes I said I was HOT) and thin when we met doesn't he want me to look good again? He always says I am beautiful!! I want to feel beautiful again! I know I will never look as good as I did at 22 when we first got together but hey let me look good for 39 right now!!!!!!

I sent my husband for GREEK yogurt the other day thinking he would bring back the oinkos
nope he brought back "yoplait"
ingredients: cultured pasteurized grade a nonfat milk, milk protein, kosher gelatin, vitamin a, vitamin d..
It is definitely more on the sour side than oinkos but, not too bad. I am looking forward to trying to make my own again soon!
and yes.. I do think it is a acquired taste.. especially if you are use to the sugary, aspartamey american yogurts.0 -
I'm guessing I would not like Greek yogurt because I don't like sour or bitter things by themselves. I love sour cream on food, but couldn't eat it otherwise. Heck, I sometimes don't even like other kinds of yogurt either.
So I didn't bring a lunch today for work because I KNEW if I went to the grocery store last night, I would have purchased a whole lot of ice cream. Therefore, I am heading to Subway for lunch and already have it all planned out. We're doing steaks on the grill tonight, so I should be able to keep things under control for dinner. It's sad, but Subway was the lesser of the two evils when compared to having a container of ice cream. Sad!0 -
Momma - Happy Anniversary! :flowerforyou: I can relate to the old loved-ones-sabotage-my-weight-loss dilemma. I go through it almost every Sunday with my family. Ugh. You'd think the ones you love the most would understand you the most. :ohwell:
Has anyone every had a fiber overload? I think I am experiencing one right now. I ate a lot of fiber yesterday and today my stomach is extended, I am FULL of gas, and feel like crap. I am trying to drink LOTS of water to help flush it out, but it seems the more water I drink, the worse I feel! Help!0 -

:blushing: Hi guys...I am peeking my head in here. I have been "off the wagon" for too long. I haven't stepped on the scale (too afraid!) but I definitely gained a little. I started today in a good mind set, exercised and am eating pretty well. Wish me luck getting back in the swing on things!0
