Okay lets give this a try!!
It worked! This is what 40 pounds looks like! LOL  A 7 year old!
Yay! 40 pounds is huge!
I'm a dog person so I was thinking about dog breeds that typically weigh 65 pounds -- LABS!! Golden Retrievers!! Greyhounds!!! (Though, not mine.. I have monster sized littermates. Their momma was notorious for spitting out huge boys -- said she must've been drinking miracle grow while she was pregnant. Their half-brother is actually pretty famous he's so tall. The racing kennel had to build him a special crate because he was too big for the ones they had. Yamato Grand - http://www.greyhound-data.com/d?z=GnM-fD&d=Yamato+Grand .) Oh, and I don't know if I've ever shared this with you all, either. I volunteer for a greyhound adoption organization. We place retired racers in adoptive homes. I personally feel really neutral about greyhound racing and that's the stance the organization I work with takes as well. That takes a lot of people by huge surprise but there's a whole mess of misconception about the greyhound racing industry. Suffice it to say, it's not all bad.And it's not all good, either.
And that's why the "neutral."
Anyway, here are my guys' greyhound data pages from their racing days.I think it's pretty neat. I want to get their ownership transferred over to me (not that it matters -- I mean, they're mine -- their racing owner has relinquished them).
Here's Kid (aka Geoff): http://www.greyhound-data.com/d?d=Toys+R+Us+Kid
and Mo! http://www.greyhound-data.com/d?d=Mystical+Moment&x=46&y=7
My Mo man was his momma's top pup (meaning he was the best racer out of all of her offspring).
Greys are kept very lean to race, so their "pet weight" is normally 5-10 pounds more than their racing weight. My guys typically stay in the 90-95 pound range. And I keep my dogs pretty thin! :noway: Mo is 33" at the withers & Kid is 32.5". To give you an idea, my inseam measurement is like 29". Needless to say, if they're laying down & I'm standing over them, I'm in big trouble if they decide to jump up really fast.
Sorry, just wanted to share. They're my big ol' babies.0 -
I love the pic of MO in the pool! Looks so happy!0

Littlespy: I had a friend growing up whose family had two Greyhounds off the track, but I sure don't remember them being as big as yours! They must have been puny little ones. They sure were sweet, though. I know what you mean about being neutral about the racing...I feel that way about horse racing. It thinks it's absolutely wonderful that you volunteer your time! I'm a big advocate of volunteering. As the new Caribou Coffee cups say, "Have a favorite charity!"
Alright, I'm out of here for the weekend. Woo hoo! I may or may not have a chance to check in this weekend but if I don't, I hope you all have a Happy Easter! (Just step away from the candy...)0 -
So I did some calculations based on the information from LittleSpy and I've decided that I'm shooting for 160 for my goal weight. Once I get there, I'll see how I feel about going lower. When the chub is gone, I'll focus on toning more and will most likely lose more from that alone, but I'd be thrilled with 160.
I was 150-155 when I graduated high school but still hadn't developed the hips to what they are now. I'm thinking about 10 lbs. more than high school sounds about right for me. I think that would qualify as voluptuous AND healthy.
All this being said, it means I am exactly half way to my goal weight. Now there is a good feeling. The first 30 came off relatively easily. When I say easily, it means I didn't give up the things I love to get there; nor did I kill myself with working out constantly. It took four months for the first 30 and if it takes until the end of this year to get rid of the next 30, so be it.
Heather, that is an AWESOME attitude. You are half-way there and we are so proud of you! I love your last sentence- it really inspired me! Thanks!0 -
lstpaul - I am glad that you only gained one pound of water weight. I know how stressed you've been. I find it really hard to lose during those times. But you KNOW that you are doing this, and that next week will be better. I have you to thank for getting me to this thread, you know. I came here back in October and was so confused. Then the thread closed and I lost you guys for a while. You emailed me and gave me the correct link. I will never forget that - I appreciate you so much! Thank you! :flowerforyou:
cris - the smoking will stop in due time. Look how far you've come with your weight loss! You are a dedicated woman who accomplishes what she sets out to do, so when it's time to quit smoking, you will!
Just saying 'hi' between my two singing jobs today! Talk more tonight.0 -
Okay so what is the deal? I got home tonight and weighed myself and I weigh less then I did this morning! Weird! But I like it!!0

That's awesome! Must've released some water you were retaining.I only weighed .6 more than this morning so I think I may be able to record another loss tomorrow, too! (...except that I'm sitting here eating a cheeseburger. Have I mentioned how much I love that my body needs me to eat more food to lose fat?).
0 -
LOL I'm trying so hard not to stuff my face! TOM arrived today and so I want to eat everything in sight. I'm so munchy!! AHHH!! Hopefully I'll be able to record another loss tomorrow too. That would rock!:bigsmile:0
-
Just had the entire family over to dye easter eggs- oh boy it got so rowdy!!! I love them but I am so glad they are gone! I spent about 4 hours today cleaning the house and I had no idea people were coming over...its all a wreck again :noway: at least it burned some calories!
I made burgers for everyone- I had 90/10 beef low fat cheese and bun- totalled 365 calories! :drinker:
Everyone was drinking alcogol too and I passed! I am so proud of myself!
thanks for all the comments on my smoking, it really is something I am looking to stop soon. I just need to plan so that I dont eat instead of smoke:embarassed:
checking in 4/2/10:
calories- under (and thats with my burger and a ice cream sandwich!!)
water- yep
sodium- 2100 (eh)
excercise- did treadmill for 25 mins (10 mins of it was straight running..), then 18 mins on the bike, tossed the football around, cleaned the entire house...I am beat!!! I dont log my calories since I dont eat them
proud- that I finally buckled down and tackled all my dirty bathrooms, I just havent had the time but today I MADE time
Hope everyone has a great easter (for those who celebrate) and if not have a great weekend!
Cris0 -
jlb- love the new pic....looking good girlie!0
-
Yes, jlb the pic is cute! And I love your greyhound! I've only known you since October and you look WAY different! Congrats!
I had a wonderful time going out to eat after my last singing job tonight. I did overeat big time, but I haven't had that much fun in a LONG time. Not that I am saying I deserved to overeat, I'm just saying I am OK with the choices I made, albeit poor ones. I ate half of a 12-inch pizza! :noway: Plus two vodka martinis! :noway: I made sure to do more exercising tonight to sort of balance things, well...sort of! I don't think you can ever quite balance out half of a sausage and bacon with extra cheese pizza! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
check in:
cals: OK with exercise cals (whew)
water: 90
exercise: 40 mins bike, 20 mins walking, plus 10 mins of bed pilates
proud: I stopped at half of the pizza!!! That is remarkable for me! :laugh:0 -
Cris-Sounds like it was chaos but yet good times at your house last night! And way to go on still watching what you eat in-spite of everything going on!
Blue-Awesome job at stop yourself! So what if you indulge a little bit every once in awhile?
LittleSpy-Well you were right. I'm down another 2 pounds this morning! YAY!! Cute pic by the way!!
Checking in for yesterday

Water: 128 OZ
Sodium: 2111 ahhh!!
Exercise: Started week 4 of c25k and then 15 minutes on the bike
Proud: That I did not over indulge myself yesterday and stayed within my calories even though I had people trying to tempt me all day!
Hope everybody that celebrates Easter has a great Easter weekend!
I Will not over indulge I will not over indulge! That's my goal!0 -
I was at 214 this morning....ugh! I guess my meal had more sodium than I though....I am also retaining water from excercise
have a good one everyone!0 -
Good morning ladies... i am soooo BLOATED today, I am miserable. Between Wendy's last night and TOM I feel like I am going to burst at the seams. Ugh.. Any way.. Busy day ahead of me. Eating some oatmeal for breakfast and then I am off to work. I plan on cleaning the house when I get home and hopefully go for a walk. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter tomorrow!0
-
this is the first time Ive had a liar ticker that reflected a significant gain...211.8 to 214....its driving me nuts! I am chugging chuggin away!0

TOM surprised me this morning. I mean, I was kind of expecting it, but not for another few days. My cycle can't seem to make up it's mind.
Good news is that even with TOM and a sodiumrific dinner (homemade, but it's pretty impossible to make a low sodium cheeseburger & fries with ketchup ). I was only at 206.2 this morning. Yay!
04.02.10
Calories: 1498
Exercise: 20 minutes bike; I also played with my dogs outside for a long time
Water: around 100oz
Proud: Sure!0 -
I have the same problem!! I wonder if it has anything to do with all the diet and exercise?0
-
ugh I drank so much water, hoping to be back to my friday weigh in or at least close to it by the morning!
checking in for tonight 4/3:
calories- under (damage control)
water- YES!
sodium- 1230
excercise- none
proud- that even tough the 3+lb weight gain overnight freaked me out I didnt take it as an excuse to blow the entire weekend
On a side note- I know I told you guys about my friend that killed her self in January...well tomorrow would have been her 27th bday. I feel awful for her family that it falls on easter sunday. I am going to try to stop by their house monday with easter baskets for her girls
good night everyone0 -
Checking in
Calories-Way under...no exercise calories were touched
Water-not enough
Exercise-105mins of walking
Proud-Hmmm that I resisted the temptation of stepping on the scale today [TOM came yesterday for the 2nd time in 6wks :grumble:] therefore saving myself from becoming discouraged
So I know cycles have a way of synchronizing with women...did that happen with us all on this board? LOL0 -
That is so funny that our cycles are synching. Well, your cycles - I haven't had one in a while and am VERY happy for that! I know that when I am in a long running show, all of us women in the show tend to synchronize like that. I really think there is something to it! It's because we women are so in tune with each other! And I am so grateful for that on our thread! I love you ladies (and gents!)! Have a Blessed Easter if you celebrate it.
check in:
cals: way under (I know but I am beat from singing - tomorrow is a salty buffet so I will make it up!)
water: barely 64
exercise: 40 + 10 bike, arms, bed pilates
proud: I wore a beautiful Easter outfit to my singing job tonight. It was a size smaller, and it fit!!! I did not wear the one I bought for Easter; if you remember I bought some smaller sized dresses and one was my goal for Easter - well, that one was really too tight in the bust still and I did not want to feel uncomfortable for five hours, so I wore a new smaller sized top and skirt. I got a LOT of compliments from the other musicians! :blushing: It felt really good wearing it! I am actually doing this! :bigsmile:0 -
bluenote-That is so awesome to hear about feeling good in your outfit that you bought. That's what it's all about. I bet you looked beautiful!
Cris-I wasn't around in January but I'm sorry to hear about your friend. That's really very sweet of you to take Easter baskets to her girls. Don't beat yourself up over your little bit of weigh gain. We all know here it's just water weight and will fall right back off in no time at all.
Jesyka-Good job resisting temptation! Maybe you will catch the bug around here to where a few of us including myself have actually lost while on TOM. Crazy to think about THAT happening!!
Just wanted to poke my head in and say good morning to everyone and have a terrific Sunday. I have to finish getting ready for church. I ran into Kohl's yesterday just to see if I could find something cute for Easter. I saw this dress and just loved it. So I grabbed it and ran to the fitting room and tried on an XL and it FIT!! I might of even been able to go to a Large but I'm quite busty  so I'm happy with the XL. I think this might actually be the dress I am going to wear to my cousins wedding reception in a month! Have a good day y'all!0 -
Jess, congrats on the dress! I tried on a sundress I really liked (the large fit perfectly! :noway:) but it looked horrible on me. I just don't have the shape for cute little poofy sun dreses. Oh well.
04.03.10
Calories: 1607.... with about 900 exercise cals left, lol :ohwell: I did my best (even ate 2 tbs of peanut butter last night)
Exercise: Oh, probably 5 hours of gardening (tilling, raking, building a brick border). I only logged 3. I feel like I was hit my a bus this morning. Apparently I got an *awesome* workout doing it. And my garden looks great for the first time since I bought this house. YAY!! I just kept thinking "Wow, being productive is so much more fun when you're not morbidly obese." I've tried to do something with the front garden both other springs I've been here and I just got too tired & half-assed it so it looked horrible.
Water: A whole lot. I didn't keep track.
Proud: I finished everything I wanted to do with my flower garden. Yay!
Happy Easter! I'm going to my mom's house (a couple hour drive). I've already planned out what I'm going to eat so I'm not worried about it at all (my plan even involves homemade key lime cake... *drool*). I'm going to try to get my brother or step dad to play basketball or tennis with me & maybe I'll be able to get my mom to go kayaking (they live on a lake). Yay!0 -
Good morning and Happy Easter!
Jess: Congrats on finding a cute dress. I'm oh so close to fitting into one I have hanging in my closet; I plan on being able to wear it for my birthday dinner in a few weeks. Woo hoo!
Cris: You're so wonderful, taking Easter baskets to your friend's daughter. All of the first holidays after you lose someone are the worst.
Bluenote: Have I ever mentioned how awesome it is that you sing? I LOVE to sing but unfortunately I am mediocre and have to settle for singing karaoke!
In regards to the TOM thing, I am in synch with you gals who are dealing with it right now, too. So far, I'm only up a pound and that's after being absolutely naughty on Friday night. We went drinking and I got straight up drunk...we'll just say I'm sure I didn't actually digest man of the beer calories, though. Ugh.
Yesterday, we got up fairly early (especially considering we were hungover) and hit a few more state parks, drinking a TON of water the whole day. I don't know if any of you are on Facebook, but I have several pics posted of our adventures. I can be searched by my email address whinney24@yahoo.com.
Anyway, we hiked for an hour and a half at Great River Bluffs State Park, which is near Winona, Minnesota and has the most beautiful scenic views of the Mississippi River. Then, we hit John Latsch State Park near Wabasha, Minnesota. The park is literally a roadside park consisting of a few picnic tables, a vault toilet and a billion stairs that take you up a 450 foot bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The sign at the foot of the stairs says its a difficult climb that takes 1 hour. Well, we thought we'd take the challenge and we made it up and back, stopping for pics at the top, in 29 minutes!! A year ago, I would have never even attempted to make that climb! We're thinking we might go back periodically to see if we can beat our time as our fitness level increases. When we got to the top, a Golden Eagle swooped by us. It's the first time we've seen one in the wild! Of course, there are also a ton of Bald Eagles that we see regularly but it was fun seeing another variety. I also saw a baby beaver playing on a beaver hut on one of the ponds we drove past. All of that being said, I want to truly encourage all of you to get outdoors and truly experience what nature has to offer. It's spectacular! Plus, it's way more fun "working out" outdoors and it doesn't feel like you're working. Our hour and a half hike literally felt like 15 minutes!
This morning, I went for a jog, but it was windy again so I ended up doing intervals. Walked 5 min., jogged 12 min., walked 8 min., jogged 5 min then walked 5 min. Still, it felt so good! My legs were a bit tired from all of those steps yesterday but I pushed through and I won't have to feel bad if I have a few bits of chocolate today. I'm going to my uncle's farm for Easter this afternoon and the plan is to go horseback riding and for a horse-drawn wagon ride after lunch. The weather is breezy, but warm and sunny.
Oops, my post is getting a bit long here...when I'm in a good mood and excited about something, I tend to get a bit talkative.
Have an "eggcellent" Easter!
Heather0 -
Heather, that sounds like so much fun! One of the things I really want to do is hike when I lose this weight. I used to love hiking when I was more in shape. Your post reminded me of the fun I used to have and WILL have again! Thanks! :flowerforyou:
Cris - I am thinking of you today and your friend's child(ren). I think that is very sweet of you to remember them on this bittersweet day.
Jess - way to go on that XL! I know how you feel when you surprise yourself with a keeper! LOL I bet you look amazing! :flowerforyou:
Litspy - Exactly! Being more active IS a lot more fun when you're not morbidly obese!Being active for me now, even though I am still in the super duper morbidly obese category, is MUCH easier than it was 65 pounds ago. I almost cannot believe how much more I move than I did back in October! I am glad you accomplished your gardening goals! Take pictures so we can see.
OK, I am psyching myself up for the salty buffet. I already planned out what I am going to eat and I feel very safe with my choices. Wish me luck! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!0 -
Heather-All tha hiking sounds like sooo much fun! I wish I had someone to do those kinda things with!
bluenote-Awesome job at planning out what you are going to eat ahead of time. That's the way to do it girl! I just know you will stick to it!
Littlespy-Congrats on making your yard look beautiful. I bet you feel soo accomplished! I agree with blue you should post some pics so we can see...
Okay so I decided to post a pic of me in a dress...I think other then Vegas last year I haven't worn a dress in maybe 10 years so in my opinion I feel like I look a bit akward...but here it is! Did I mention I have never been super girly?0 -
jess- congrats on your dress!!! you look beautiful!!! hooray!
today went to my MIL's and I decided to have a 'shock my metabolism" day. So far I've had a bacon sandwich with mayo, turkey with gravy, mashed potato with gravy, a roll with butter, and a piece of brownie. I am not logging this until tomorrow...but I am sure I am over calories. And holy moly on the sodium! I will not have a good weigh in this week!
Anyways, I know its TMI but I felt a little bloated and have been constipated lately, after my meal I no longer had that problem!! lol, so there was SOME positive that came out of all this eating!:embarassed:
Ugh, I do feel kind sick right now though...:grumble: :noway:0 -
I just went back and logged my calories, I couldnt help myself
checking in:
calories- over ...1691 (prob more but I did the best logging job I could)
water- will drink tons for the rest of the day
sodium- 5181!!!!:explode:
excercise- nothing
proud- that today will be put behind me and I will have to work all week to get near to what I was on Friday.
Hope everyone is having a great easter!!!0
