Stitch in your side- On the 5K101 site or podcast (not sure) they said that when you get one it's a spasm in your diaphragm. To get rid of it breath in "huffs" out and in -somewhat abrupt a few times until the diaphragm muscle gets back in sync with your breathing. It's been working for me!

It was in the low 30s this morning - I think the horses were out back trying to stick their winter coats back on! It's already warming up and looks beautiful!

I think Meghan is a little freaked out about her decision to move here - but she seems pretty relaxed and happy. I'm going to keep letting her know that she's loved and let her kind of feel her way around...

I barely made it through the 5K101 today - five bouts of 4 minute jogs. It was the first time I didn't feel like I had recovered after the walk. Next week is 8 minute jogs - dear lord! At the same time I'm glad it pushed me. The podcast is talking about how to breath and how to pace yourself to your breathing and I'm trying to gasp my way through it:laugh: Hopefully I'll get more fit by Friday!

Tomorrow our dinner party has a Mexican theme (Meghan's favorite) so does anyone have any authentic Mexican dish ideas?

mstahl-I found a good chicke bouritto recipe on this website somewhere...if you are interested I could go find it. Otherwise when I do have mexican I have fajitas. I make taco salads a lot in the big taco bowls and then usually make some what I call "mexican rice" its basically rice with rotel in it. If you want something not so healthy I have other ideas. Just let me know!!

It is so funny that I seem to be the only person who has to eat 1200-1400 cals daily6 to lose weight. If i eat more I maintain or gain weight.I am trying so hard to do this the right way.Once I went back to eating 1200-1400 cals a day and light exercise and no eating my exercise cals back I began losing again.Do you gals think I am harming myself by eating this amount (1200-1400)?It usually stay right around 1250-1300 daily now and I mean exactly.I have being strength training more than anything right now because I love it for one thing but I still am doing cardio as well.Eating more just does not work for me right now.And eating between 1200- 1400 calories daily of "GOOD FOOD" keeps me full and focused. And I should also add I do not eat past 6pm and I drink about 100 ounces of water daily now.I visit the bathroom frequently no which I wasn't getting enough water before and hence I believe that was a reason the scale was not moving much either.I think I finally found something that does work for me but I don't want to screw it up by not losing weight or worse gaining it back and more.I think what I am going to do is keep my calories where they are at right now until I hit a plateau and then move them up a bit gradually to get past it.But I haven't hit one yet so we will see what happens because I just started losing again lol.Jbl,Cris,Jenn you gals inspire me everyday and show people like me that it can be done because your doing it.You gals rock.Everyone in this group is amazing and if it weren't for you gals I would be completely lost most days.So to end my ramble do you gals think I am doing this the healthy way?

mstahl: It was 70 yesterday and will be near that again today. Let me tell you that taking 1.5 hours to catch my horse didn't seem so bad with it being beautiful outside! My girl has almost shed her winter coat now.

With all of this talk about 30 Day Shred and workouts that make us sore, I want to take a moment to remind you all about the importance of stretching after you get done. I personally use Debbie Siber's Slim and Limber stretching DVD after a hard workout and haven't been sore from exercising in a LONG time. The DVD can be purchased on Amazon.com very inexpensively; otherwise, it is also on Youtube. I want to encourage you to check it out. I honestly never get sore if I do this DVD after even the most intense Jillian Michael's workout. When you aren't sore, you can get another workout completed the very next day and see results faster!

    Cogirl, sorry about little bear!

mstahl, glad meghan has made it safely. I think your plan to show lots of love and give her a chance to feel things out is wise.

Jenn, every time I come on here and see your face I smile. Glad to see you back!!!!!

Busy Busy Girls, Good morning. My day is starting off pretty good. I took a brisk walk and while I was walking I kept telling myself pick up the pace finish this walk faster than you usually do. I cut off almost 5 minutes from my usual time. I felt great. I think I need to do exercise in the morning it inspires me to eat a better breakfast when I get home.

Took a very brisk walk this morning the one I already told you about. Then I took RyRy for a more leisurely walk to feed the ducks and horse. Then I did couch 25k week 2. I did some wall pushups and I am feeling pretty good. Now to go eat some lunch and try to squeeze in all that water I am going to need for today.

Great job with all that exercise, Momma!!

I'm jealous of all you ladies with weather in the 60s. That's my fav. It's HOT here already. I had to break down & use my car AC on my lunch break. I shudder to think how hot it will be in my house when I get home -- it didn't even occur to me to switch the thermostat from heat to AC this morning when it was 40 degrees outside. In the 80s today and will be nearing 90 the rest of the week. COME ON! It's MARCH for crying out loud! I hate hot weather! WHY do I live here?!

I was in Walmart during lunch & was walking by the little girls' clothing section when a t-shirt caught my eye. It was *so cute* (I mean, for me to wear... I don't know anyone with a little girl, actually ). So, I said "WTH" and decided to try on the shirt in an XL. IT FIT! I can wear an XL in little girls' sizes! That's awesome! You know why? Because kid clothes are SO CHEAP! I got that awesome tshirt... for $3.50! I also decided to try on a juniors' size 15 jeans for giggles. I haven't worn a size 15 since I was 13 years old. And those jeans fit! It's no small feat for me to fit into any juniors' size pants because I have some monster sized birthin' hips that "juniors" clothes aren't generally made to accomodate. Anyway, it's so nice to try on clothes and get excited rather than depressed.

LittleSpy! Congrats on the clothes! WHOOOT!!!

It's beautiful today but I couldn't get out to walk at lunch because I went with a group to a Sushi bar. I'M A BAD BAD GIRL! I did OK until I ordered a Spider hand roll. Soft shelled crab. YUM.

(I did drink Green tea so that should make it all fine - right?)

    (kidding)

Tonight we're having smoked salmon - I have a stove top smoker (about $40 on Amazon) and when you use it it heats up to about 350- so it will smoke and roast the fish at the same time! YUM! I'm going to serve a spinach salad with it and some roasted tomatoes... Maybe I'll be able to sneak in 45 minutes on the elliptical and come out even!

awestfall- I dont think you are doing it the unhealthy way. I think you should do what works until it stops working, then increase from there like JLB advised in her post.

jlb- OMG CONGRATS! I can only imagine your excitment...you are so brave! I would never dare try those clothes on...

I didnt make top 10 at the gym so its kind of inspiring me to work harder, but with the lil one home its hard to make it to the gym and its hard to work out with a toddler jumping on you as you try to follow a DVD. Im sure Ill think of something though

    Back later to check in!

ps- its so hot here too! I hate the heat 60 degrees is my idea of a perfect day! not too hot not too cold

I like the 70's!!! We are right about 60 today and I am cold. We have been in the 70's and close to 80's for a couple of weeks and I am seriously cold today. Our winters are pretty mild average in the 50's if it gets lower it is news worthy. I was getting use to the nice weather. So I like the 70's and sunny.

It was in the high 70's yesterday.. but normally it is in the 50 - 60's this time of year. I really can not complain. We do tend to experience all four seasons in one day from time to time. But, overall Colorado has the best weather in my book! Ok.. so, I am a little biased..

We hit 82 today in STL. Too hot for spring! I like 60's and 70's, personally. Our summers are beastly hot so I hate when we warm up to the 80's so soon. Oh well, better than below zero!

pos_me - 128 oz. of water? You inspire me! I recently upped mine to 90 and I am floating away! LOL
cris - Thank goodness you got the insurance! I did not for my wedding ring and it got damaged within a few months and the jeweler said, "Oh well."
COGirl - I am so sorry to hear about Little Bear's passing. I was devastated when my first cat died. Now is the time to reflect on all of the love and happiness he gave your family, and that you gave him. :flowerforyou:
awestfall - I agree with the gals. Do what works for you.
litspy - I also began eating more and am doing much better! It freaked me out for a few weeks, but now I am secretly GLAD because I like my groceries! And WAY TO GO on those juniors!
jesyka - where do you live with 30 degree weather?
heather - thank you for the tea tip! Let's just say I am a LOT lighter today than yesterday! ROFL Also, ---1.5 hours to "catch" your horse? Sorry, I am clueless and have NO idea about horses. Can't you just whistle and he'll come?  Man, I wish I had a horse! I love when you horse people post about your horses, because I live vicariously through you!
mstahl - don't worry about the chart. You know in your heart what your progress is, but I know how you feel, because sometimes I don't like what I see in my chart numbers, either. And the way you described getting rid of the stitch in your side by using your diaphragm muscle is also the way you should get rid of hiccups. Hiccups is your diaphragm muscle having a spasm. This muscle also controls breath support when singing, which of course, I better know a lot about.
momma - I found this past week while on spring break that when I worked out in the morning I had a LOT more energy for the day AND I ate better. I just can't do it while I am working because I can't get up in the mornings!

    With that, I'll check in:
    cals: OK
    water: going for 90
exercise: the full monty tonight because tomorrow begins singing jobs until late Sunday afternoon
proud: I wore a 5X shirt to work and it wasn't snug at all! I mean like it was sort of loose! :noway: A colleague said, "Oh that is pretty. You've never worn that before, is it new?" I said, "Older than the hills I just couldn't fit into it!" Then she said, "Well, you're almost out of it now!" ROFL

    Hello gals...

Sorry i have been MIA this week..unfortunetly i haven't been eating great, but not horrible either. This has been an eventful week .

    1) Hubby got that job he had interviewed for , he got it!!! He starts on the 12th of April. He was just going to leave but his boss begged him to stay, he said he would but on his demands, so #1 was no working on easter, #2, got used his 2 personal days, and not taking type of calls that put him on the path to look for a job. It works out better so we are not out any money he stops work ing on the 9th and starts new job on the 12th. We are both very happy about that.

    2) We found us a dog. He does not cause me any allergies, he is basicallly the type we had for the last ten years that died a few months ago. He is a ****zu , and he is sooo cute. We got him from this lady that had 5 kids and 3 dogs already pluse this little guy...that her duaghter bought her and she said she didn't like ****zu and said he was ugly  He is not ugly , but i guess to each its own...I think he is a perfect fit for our family. he is 4 months old.and a little cuddler , he is starting to get playful now i think he was scared before. I think he hasn't been eating much either he is skinny, but we got hime some treats and food and we will take care of that

TMI is still here :( I think i am having some iron deficiency, i swear it is much worse than normal...i hope it is at a end soon, not hoping for great things this week with the scale...i need some energy..uggg

awestfall-I agree with everyone else. Do what works for you! I eat 1200 calories as well and it's been working for me. Keep up the hard work!

positively-Way to go on the 30 day shred! I agree with Heather. Make sure you do lots of stretching. what she does at the end of the video isn't nearly enough. Good luck on day 2 tomorrow!

Momma-You are doing so great on your exercise and making healthy choice. You will be at that 40 pound loss in no time.

mstahl-Smoked salmon that sounds soooo gooodd!!!! Enjoy it!! Who said healthy food can't be yummy! Don't sweat the sushi bar at lunch. Gotta indulge every once in awhile right?

Cris-Sorry to hear about the BL challenege. You will let it drive you to work and push harder. You will rock it next week! Show them how it's done!!

bluenote-Congrats on fitting into a smaller shirt. That's always a great feeling!!!

I suppose I will check in on the weather here in Dallas. It got somewhere above 80. It was 80 degrees in my apartment when I got home! How did we go from the 40's this morning to 80's!? Gotta love the Texas weather!! And to think...a few weeks ago we had snow!

    Hello fabulous ladies,

Just returned from a spontaneous trip to see my mom. Had a wonderful time, ate carefully, did lots of walking but no hard wokout. I quickly read through the posts and great things are happening around here. We bought new scales before the holidays that were highly recommended here on MFP, they are TANITA. They are about 6 months old and they are consistant, consistant, consistant. Have a great night.

I picked up Meghan at her Great Grandparents (Ken's mom and dad - in their 90s and sharp as tacks!) then we stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things and made it home by 7:00. As I was unloading the car I noticed a huddle of Ken, Beth (housemate) and Meghan... it seems they decided that instead of smoked salmon we should go out for sushi.

    (I hadn't mentioned my lunch)

    SO...
Calories- over (haven't figured out the damage yet but much of my dinner was wrapped in white rice)
    Water - OK
Exercise - this morning seems so LONG AGO! 5K101 week 4 day 1 ugh!

Proud - not sure... but I guess that I have an adventurous pallet and was able to teach a teenager from CA about fun sushi and Mexican ingredients

Mstahl- So glad that you've been able to get off your water pills easily. Sorry that you've got extra water weight on right now though, that'll be gone soon enough :)

CoGirl-So sorry about losing your fur baby :(

Bluenote- I live in Canada lol Ontario to be exact, forgot to specify the Celsius at the end there  I think thats about 86F?

littledebbie-Congrats on your hubby's new job :), and on finding a new puppy

    Checking in..

Calories-way under [didn't touch exercise calories..for once lol]
Water-unless you count the water content in my fruit...none :embarassed: Really need a water bottle for when we're not home
Exercise-Spent the entire day out walking around and playing on park equipment with my daughter
    Proud-That I got exercise in today :)

Today was beautiful, and my fiance had the day off which made it that much better!! We went to 3 parks and I tried to keep walking when I wasn't playing with my daughter and we walked our towns nature trail [loved it!] I found today that I had more stamina playing with my daughter. We went to this great park that had paths all around it and a skate park off of it, I used the ramps in my walking and made it a little harder by walking up it backwards pulling my youngest up in her stroller. They also had this weird mechanism for one of the playground pieces that you had to crank in a rowing motion...great work out for the arms!! got my daughter from one side to the next and back again, by the time I was done my arms were jelly LOL.

I am SO happy that spring is finally here...we've gotten so much snow and cold crappy weather, I get a lot more done, and am out a LOT more with these nice sunny days!

    GOod Morning girls:)

IT's a beautiful day today...expected to be around the 70s here in the Pa. My chidren are home for the upcoming easter holiday; so my daughter want to rearrange my bedroom...

Jesyka, wow 3 different parks..way to go girl in getting your walking and playing wiht your family..
I took my son (who's 4) to the park, yesterday, however, the play area was all muddy from all the rain we had...so he just rode his bike while i walked..before this weight loss thing i would have taken the park being muddy as a way to go back home instead of just enjoying the walking path...keep doing what you are doing..your doing great!

    Check in for yesterday:
calories: over my 1200 calories because i ate some of my exercise calories... my total calories was 1374.
exercise: walked in the park and 30 day shred...
water: 128 oz. ...i had to wash out the sodium i consumed by just eating goya chick peas, in the can. I had no idea that by choosing the can instead of making my own..i consumed an extra 720 mg of sodium...yikes that is alot...my sodium was 2100 mg. that is a lot because i try not to go over 1700mg.
proud: that i accomplished 30 day shred...even though it gave me a hard time playing inside of the playstation...it annoyed me after it restarted 5 times so i just got the lap top and played it in that... I didn't give up...i still did the exercise

I will be back later...I have to go feed my children and maybe we will take a walk or update my bedroom..who knows..

    Have a great day girls!!!

    Calories: 1608
Exercise: 30 minutes stationary bike; 24 hours of me being crazy (does anyone else like.. fidget and wiggle all the time due to the new found energy? I've always had a problem sitting/standing still -- my mom used to get so angry with me about that as a child. She'd tell me she was going to take me to the doctor to have my "wiggle worm" removed if I didn't sit/stand still.))
    Water: 80oz+
Proud: I'm figuring out what works for me. Never could've done it without MFP! Oh, and last night we were sitting on the front porch & our neighbor walks across the street to chat (unfortunately she came to "chat" about the 8-9 gunshots that we just heard in the park about 100 feet away from our houses...). She mentioned she hadn't even recognized me when I was out doing yardwork last Sunday. She was coy about commenting on my weight but said something like "I didn't even recognize you because... you've done something with your hair... and... you know... lost... such a significant... amount of weight..." That's the 2nd person this week who has told me I've lost so much weight they barely recognized me! Now, of course I don't see that huge of a change in myself, but woah!

Happy APRIL FOOLS' DAY!! I can hardly wait for one of my coworkers to go to lunch today. I'm going to change a few of his computer settings while he's gone. He's SO funny to listen to when he thinks his computer is messed up. He just sits over there and talks to it & gripes about it & bangs on it. It's absolutely hilarious. I'll probably end up rolling around in the floor I'll be laughing so hard.
