Neither I nor my husband find that attractive. There are extremes, and we both feel that this is one. Is it body shaming to say an anorexic is too thin? No, it is not, and that takes just as much "discipline" as extreme lifting. And like any other physical extreme, there can be consequences. How are her hormones? If she wishes to conceive, what changes will she need to make for that to be possible? When your veins start bulging out, and you lose any hint of breasts, you DO look manly. I don't see why it is not okay to say so, but it is ok to tell someone their opinions on this board are either invalid or should be stifled.

I am all for lifting. I am all for strength. (Look at the painting I chose for my profile pic!) But I do not think that any extreme that puts your overall health at risk is "sexy."

It's my opinion, and you can tell me it stinks, but that won't change it.

Holding up anorexic behaviour, which is a manifestation of the illness, in an attempt to compare it to the discipline of a strength athlete is pretty outrageous and I'm not surprised a number of people have found that statement offensive. It is. Anorexia is not a "physical extreme", like bodybuilding or extreme body modifications are often considered to be. Anorexia is a very real illness.

Who knows how her hormones are? Assuming there is something wrong with them is merely that--an assumption. I don't think people typically look at me and think "jeez, her hormones are totally out of whack". But my hormones have been for a number of years, and are just now settling down.

Keeping one's hormones healthy is very important, but conception need not be the impetus for that. Not all women can conceive naturally, for whatever reason, and then there are a whole bunch of other women who don't want to. Perhaps she already has a kid or two, maybe she wants to adopt, or maybe she just isn't interested in having babies at this point because she's in the middle of her athletic career, and stopping to get pregnant, give birth, and be a mom isn't necessarily the best decision for someone, depending upon where they're at. It's all very personal and very speculative.

I don't think flat chested women necessarily look "manly", either. A woman who looks "manly" to me is one who is actually pursuing the look of a man, for whatever purposes. I don't find athletic women to be "manly" looking unless they've been dipping into the steroids a bit too much. But perhaps that is due to my upbringing and the fact that I had an athletic mum, super athletic younger sister who went on to play a professional sport, and I was involved in some sort of athletic pursuit almost my entire life.

Here is what I think is sexy, and it goes way beyond the fact that I personally enjoy seeing women who are muscular and strong--I think someone's passion and dedication to chasing whatever their dreams are is more sexy than anything else. Even if you don't see yourself in whatever realm they're succeeding in, you have to admire their courage and tenacity, and the fact that this is just a whole lot of dedication put towards living one's dream. Absolutely beautiful! That's my opinion, anyway.

Oh for God's sake people, this is the internet, don't take it so seriously. People disagree with you. No need to bust a nut about it.

This is what she'd look like with a higher body fat percentage.

This is an incredibly rude, and offensive comment... it's okay for over weight people to weight train in the gym, that's how we lose weight, and build muscle simultaneously... SHAME ON YOU for you posting a picture like this as a joke, everyone no matter size has the right to weight train, and go to the gym, and feel proud of themselves no matter their size... an over weight person shouldn't have to worry about heading to the gym because some jerk is going to post a picture of them on an internet forum as a joke... seriously you are awful, shame on you.

And really it doesn't matter what she looks like, I am so disgusted at the way it's acceptiable to objectify women thin, over weight, muscular or otherwise.

I TOTALLY AGREE. You should be ashamed of yourself for that catty post. People like you are what makes people like her and myself give up.

um, she posted the picture of HERSELF.

Yup, and I think I have a new hero now...she flippin rocks!

    ^^^^ Agreed!

The first comment made me laugh, but she didn't know it was Deevaa. And yeah, she's freaking bad *kitten*!!!

Everytime someone posts pictures of a woman who is obviously very fit and working hard for her body, other women will (every single time!!) argue that it's not "womanly".
That's ****ing sad! I have never in my life seen a person whose body made me go "yuck". Some people's character on the other hand...

    agreed x 2

I think they both look good, and I wouldn't want to get in a fight with either of them. And I didn't see anything negative in the comment "this is what she'd look like at a higher body fat percentage" - I took that to mean that she was just as strong as the woman in the OP, just had a different body fat percentage. Just like in the male body types, comparing athletic/ripped, to bear mode. Personally I find athletic and bear mode male body types attractive. I'm not into women but can still see that both women look good.

I did NOT call her a guy. Just that she LOOKS like a guy. I know she's a woman and in her job that sort of body is a plus. I said I ( Me, not you) would not want to look like that.

Dont worry about it.. most people on here dont believe in opinions. Either THEY are right.. or NO ONE is right. Especially if they are lean, without fat. Afterall, this IS a health site.. and no one who has the least bit of fat on them knows ANYFUKCINGTHING about weight loss....

So you take your opinion.. and ill take mine.. and tell everyone to shove it where the sun dont shine. LOL

by the way.. no one has a clue what my opinion is..because i have not expressed it. Nor will I.

How about that revolutionary idea that women can still have validly beautiful and amazing bodies without that being our personal preference of what we'd want to have sex with? Because gueeeess what, other people don't exist for the sole purpose of being aesthetically pleasing to you.

    ^^^YEAH, this too.

YES! I totally agree with you!
It doesn't need to be a debate and I'm still waiting to hear who defined the rules of womanhood! I'm a plus size woman. Does that make me less of a lady bc I'm not average? Nope! Body builders/lifters are just as womenly, but to their own definitions!
Some people's characters... you nailed it!

i wrote this earlier but suppose this doesnt count as usual ppl cant accept an appology when one has given it for their mistake of choice of words..

i apploligise to anyone that i have offended this was not my intent, all i was doing was saying what i think about women with muscle ok you guys may think its hot, i did not say this woman was not hot. most of you have been offensive also but atleast i can hold my hands up and say i did put words in my comment that offended ppl but again that was not intended.so i am sorry to those i offended!

im so sorry for saying it in my way that i couldnt think of another way to explain my comment i said in my appology comment i did not mean to say it how it was said but i hold up my hands to that was a mistake i wasnt trying to be rude or offensive which i also said in my comment that you took so offensive this was just another excuse to start an argument. so many ppl on here which are very rude and dont care what they say to offend someone when im the opposite i dont like to offend and i care if i have done.
otherwise i wouldnt have applogised once and now this post twice

but i guess this wont count anyway

IMO it does count. I appreciate the fact that you reconsidered what you said and apologised for it not coming out the way you meant it to.

The reason for the backlash is because from what I've seen here, pretty much every single time someone posts a picture of a very athletic looking woman, someone always comes in and says that she's too muscular/manly, or some other negative comment that's not necessary because we all already know that different people have different preferences in terms of what they want themselves, or their female sexual partners, to look like. I don't recall ever seeing a thread like this that doesn't end in the same discussion, which is sad really. It gets tiresome for those of us who just want to celebrate someone's hard work and determination. Many of us admire those that aspire towards goals that go against conventional norms/ideals, e.g. women who get strong and muscular in spite of many people saying they don't think that's "feminine" or whatever.

Don't take the backlash personally, because a lot of it isn't directed at you personally, but at the situation and attitudes that result in this happening again and again and again. I'm glad you rethought what you originally said :flowerforyou: I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates that, just no-one else has said it, or maybe they missed your post. (most likely the latter).

This and that are both beautifully said. You both get flowers. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

ok there is only so far a girl can go with lifting before she starts to look like she has a mans body......... girls that lift are sexy just not when they get too much muscle and no fat to cover it, i like a bit of fat i dont mind being skinny fat just not fat like i am now and so i look toned but not too toned, i dont disagree with women wanting muscle but my opinion is i dot think it looks good. women are meant to have boobs not a man like chest like you see in pics posted.. sorry if i have offended anyone but this again is my opinion x

WOW, usually the body shaming waits until the second page. Way to be a ground breaker. Oh, and being it's only your opinion. you should have kept it to yourself.

    Hypocrite!

ok mans point of view men like boobs *kitten*,thighs and legs

Yeah, and you certainly can't get those lifting weights? LOL

Also, way to count out all the women who don't have what you claim is the "correct shape." Men (and women) aren't a hive mind, they like all kinds of things.

Loving the whole "should only care what the other gender wants in me" concept people are focusing on.

Yikes. Why's everyone getting so fired up over each other's opinions? If someone doesn't like a ripped woman, just accept their opinion and present your own, don't flip **** for 14 pages.
Don't be overly sensitive, EVERYONE's entitled to their opinions and EVERYONE's entitled to post them, but it's NOT in your rights to shame them over it.
(And don't even mention I have the right of speech, because that ends when it starts infringing other people's rights).

Peace people! We're all trying to lose weight here, it's not Facebook!
