Sorry your knees are hurting. I think I would pass on the extra 35 pounds for crunches too!

I don't think Kenpo X will push you off the cliff. To me, it's one of the least difficult workouts and just plain feels good. The hardest part, in my opinion, is the warmup. After that, I pretty much cruise.

On that note, I'd better go do it. Bye!

Hey all, wanted to say Hi - haven't read through the entire thread yet, but slowly working on it! New to the MFP forums and trying to integrate ;).

Started a round of P90X a few weeks before the 26th myself, so off timing a little bit! Good job everybody for choosing such a challenging program! And for reaching out to help motivate those around you!

Hi Everyone, I'm starting my 2nd round of P90X on monday 5/3/10. I did the Lean and struggeled with the nutrition plan...( i basically did not follow it to a T ) I still ate clean. This time I'll be doing the classic. I have 30-35 lbs of body fat to lose and was wondering how do you input your caloric needs on fitness pal to balance out with the P90X program. If you let fitness pal do it for you...it tells me I should eat 1200 cals a day...I know I'm suppose to eat 22000 a day according to P90X ( level 2 ) can anyone help me out here?
I've been stressing out to because my dad was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

    Welcome to Rezolute and NYGoddess77.

NYG, first of all, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I understand that stress. I lost my dad last summer. He is my inspiration to be as healthy as I can be. On the nutrition plan, I struggled with that too. When I did the program before, it also had me at Level 2. That was WAY too much food. Now I'm 26-27 pounds lighter, and if I used the nutrition guide, it would have me at Level 1. What I'm doing this time is using MFP. I set my weight loss to 1/2 pound a week and I eat all my exercise calories. I average about 1,800 calories a day. I would think you would need at least that much – maybe even a couple hundred more. Play with it and see what feels right. Hope that helps.

I was right. Kenpo X felt great this morning, and just like it always used to be, the warmup was the hardest part for me.

    Happy May Day!

Nice job everyone! The support in this thread is soo helpful!

NYGoddess77- So sorry to hear about your Dad. Welcome to the group, I applaud you for keeping up with your health during this difficult time. I think it will definitely help you through it.

The toughest part of Kenpo for me is the coordination. Good thing no one is watching me. Today I went for a run. Looking forward to yoga tomorrow =). It's finals week. Which means crazy long study hours, lack of sleep, and crappy moods. Yucky. Hopefully yoga will help me relax and focus. I'm graduating on May 14th- very excited!!!!!!!!!!! :):):):):)

What do you all aim for in terms of protein and carbs? What are your "goals" or percentages for carbs, protein, and fat set at? I'm curious because I feel like I'm not getting enough protein in and I KNOW I'm getting more than enough carbs in (aka....too many). I'd like to shed some of this extra body fat that's hanging around! I know my muscles are hiding under there somewhere!

P90X is crazy! Crazy good, that is :)

My arms and shoulders are STILL sore from Chest & Back on Wednesday. I skipped Plyo on Thursday because I got into a minor car accident but I did go for a 30 minute run/walk instead. Friday Shoulders & Arms was awesome but I took it sort of light since my arms were already so sore. Yoga yesterday was HARD. I really enjoyed parts of it but only made it through about 45 minutes. 90 minutes is a long time committment to make on a very busy Saturday. Next week I'll try to make it through the whole thing. Time to go push play on Legs & Back!

I've played around with eating more protein and cutting carbs, but I discovered I feel best and lose fat the fastest by eating a fairly large amount of complex carbs.

I have my settings at 50 carbs/25 protein/25 fat. I also set my fiber at 25 grams, but I usually get at least 30. My calories are about 1,800/day.

Looks like we were posting at the same time.

One thing to keep in mind about the yoga is that the first 45 minutes is much harder than the second 45 minutes, so it's worth it to do the whole 90!

I still am not fully recovered from last Tuesday's Plyo. Like a dope, I went and did it without shoes. I prefer working out barefoot, but I don't recommend that for Plyo. I'll definitely be wearing my Adidas next time!

Should I expect to be able to lose 15lbs or so over the next 90 days of this program? I'm concerned because I've heard stories about women not losing anything and just winding up with nice muscles under their layers of fat. I'm considering swapping out some of the strength workouts for additional cardio (running, biking) in the Classic program (hubby doesn't want to do Lean). Is that a decent idea?

Hey there. I think I misunderstood your question (after reading one of your posts on another P90X thread). If you want to use the MFP diary to track 2,200 calories a day, you can go to Goals under My Home, then select Change Goals, then select Custom (rather than Guided), and change the number of calories to 2,200. For Phase 1, set the percentage of carbs to 30, protein to 50, and fat to 20. For Phase 2, change them to 40 carbs, 40 protein and 20 fat. And for Phase 3, change them to 60 carbs, 20 protein and 20 fat. Hope that helps!

P90X isn't intended to be a weight-loss program per se, but that doesn't mean you can't lose weight while doing it. Using X to lose 15 pounds in 90 days is a pretty high expectation in my opinion. If you did the Lean version while your husband does Classic and set your weight-loss goal at 1/2 pound a week, I think that would give you good results while keeping you strong. Have you ever considered doing Slim in 6 for a while to get the weight off first? Just a thought... Good luck!

OK I'm inspired by Meg to do doubles so did 3 mile run this morning (had limited time) and chest/back/AR-X this afternoon. Did great on push-ups today but struggled on set 2 of pull-ups.

So sorry to hear about your dad NY, I am actually a lung cancer specialist and there is much more hope just in the last few years because of better treatments. I wish you both the best.

Oh Meg, your quote is very special to me! Last year my 6 year old son was diagnosed with what was thought to be advanced cancer and we bought a plaque with that quote to hang over his head before surgery. It is still hanging in his room. I get choked up every time I see it......

Good morning! Is everybody ready for Week 2? I still felt a good amount of soreness in most of my muscle groups yesterday, but I woke up today feeling very relaxed and refreshed – and strong. I am ready to bring it.

docjoe, I really like that quote too. I hope things are better for your son now.

So, how is everybody doing with their eating? Who is following the nutrition guide, who is doing something different, and who is not changing their eating but just doing the workouts? I'm really interested to see what everyone is doing and how you feel that is working for you.

I am so ready for Week 2!! Is it bad that I am still sore from doing Plyo on Saturday. That is def. the hardest on my body. I barely made it through it. My eating is fair. I am not following the meal plan, I am just eating lots of veggies and lean meat. I am really loving hot tea right now!! Hope everyone has a good day!! (I have legs tonight)

So I am on week 4 which is Recovery. Blech I hate the Yoga with a passion. It is such a struggle for me to make myself do it. Today was Core Synergistics (sp?) and I didn't think it would be that difficult. I was SO wrong on that thought lol. My whole core muscles hurt lol Tomorrow is Kempo! I love love love kempo!

Starting week 2 with a bang! Felt a little pull in my stomach halfway through Core so am going to take it easy there. Other than that, I feel great! Core wasn't so bad today after all.

I'm not following the nutrition plan at all. I'm just using MFP to log everything. I'm eating around 1800 cal/day. I am following portion sizes and weigh/measuring everything. That seems to be working for me. I haven't lost too much weight, but I have lost some inches! For me, this isn't about weight loss, it's about changing my life for the better...giving up the bad habits and taking responsibility for my health!

I am also pairing P90X with a 10 week beginners running program. I ran a lot in the 'glory' days and am trying to get back to that but since it's been over 10 years, thought I should start it slow. By the end, I will hopefully be able to pull off a 5k (not that I'm entering one!) in around 30 minutes.

I am on Week 3, Day 5. I have legs and back tonight which is always a toughie.

I'm following my own diet plan as well. I don't eat meat and don't eat a lot of dairy (or very rarely do) so trying to incorporate more protein into my diet has been a challenge. I've always been big on fruits and veggies, so no problem there. Ideally I'd like to eat more protein and cut back on the carbs so for now I'm just watching my portions and calories, etc and tracking protein more closely.

I'm more focused on developing strength and toning up (so I can beat up all the boys at training ;) haha).

I too am incorporating running into the program (slowly). Will probably do more running once the semester is over with (one more week!) and finals craziness has settled down. I'll be moving about 3 times this summer so it's going to be interesting!

Do you eat eggs, Meg? I eat meat and dairy, but I still get a lot of my protein from eggs (mostly whites).

This better not be a trend... I missed Plyo on Thursday because I got into a minor car accident, and tonight hubby and I both missed Kenpo because he got in the middle of a dog fight at our house and wound up bitten on his forearm and hand. That's going to seriously put a kink in his workouts for the next couple weeks :*( Perhaps we are not destined to do P90X just yet, or perhaps this is just a test from the fitness gods... ugh!

Don't let it steer you away. Just keep hitting play :)

On another note: Does anyone else feel this way. I get up at 6am and do my P90x exercises. I sweat and I wear a HRM so I know I am doing something and I push myself to the limit. Then later in the day do you feel like you didn't really workout? Like maybe you were being lazy and should do more? Even though my HRM said I burned so many calories? I guess I just don't feel much of the after effects like I did at the beginning.

I don't feel that way, usually later in the day I am ready for a nap!

Cardio X done! I am really enjoying p90x, and can see already that I am getting better/stronger.

Ouch! I sure hope it doesn't become a trend. I hope your hubby's injuries heal quickly. Darned dogs anyway. Our two get along really well MOST of the time, but I've gotten between them when they weren't, and it's no fun.

I DO kind of feel that way most times. It's like my body thrives on working out, and later in the day, it feels like that last workout was SO long ago. But I get over it pretty quickly and continue to be lazy.

I'm looking forward to tackling Plyo again today. I was nervous about it last week, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I will definitely wear shoes this time. My poor feet paid the price for not wearing them last week. That was not smart.

PJilly that is how I feel in the afternoon. Maybe it's just that I do it in the morning and then later I just feel like I am slacking. I don't want to exercise more because I already have enough trouble eating what I burn without going over in sodium

I do my workouts at night. I usually have to babysit at 5:30 so there's no way I'm getting up before that (that would be near impossible). Usually I don't get home until 6:30 p.m. or so, so I do my workouts then. But then I find that I am eating supper so late cuz I don't want to eat beforehand and have all of that food movin' around! It's working out alright though and once summer break comes I'll have a lot more free time (in between studying for my license exam).

Legs and back yesterday was challenging (made the mistake of running beforehand....again). This time I did abripperX first and found that that worked a lot better for me as I was not so exhausted from the workout! I still feel like a wimp doing pullups. I HAVE to use the chair or I wouldn't even move!

I think I need to increase my weights, I'm not getting that "hurts so good" soreness. After Kenpo tonight I'm heading into recovery week (week 4). Woohoo!

I wish I had a HRM so I would have a more accurate count of how many calories I'm burning. For now I just guesstimate based on what MFP calculates
