So I've been in two serious longterm relationships in which I thought I was in love but afterwards realized I was in love with the idea of love, not the person himself. Sometimes I ask people if they've been in love and how it feels. I'm curious.
When you watch romantic comedies you get an idea of what love is like but I'm still amazed.
Is it really like you're walking on clouds, can't sleep or eat, your heart aches etc.?

Is there anyone else out there who like me have never been in love?

Sometimes being with someone and being in love with the idea of love, is the best you can get and its not a bad outcome.

Sometimes, you are in love for a period in time and not in love before or after that window, which is ok too.

Sometimes you have a stronger connection with another person viz another emotion than love.

You cant really define love. You can only cherish what you got when you got it, knowing full well that tomorrow it may or may not be there.

+1, Oftentimes, people and movie makers, confuse love with co-dependency.

A good love propagates you forward and makes a better version of you. It does not leave you sleepless and does not limit you.

Dude, I fell in love at 14... he's still mine at 24. Don't worry about finding it, it finds you. I watched my mom look for love so much I seriously thought it didn't exist... aaaand then i met my husband. love feels disgusting, like you'll be physically sick if you can't be there with them, and amazing, like you are a better stronger person with them. Love hurts, like really hurts, inside your chest like you wish you could crawl inside the other person to be part of them. Its irrational, and makes you leave everything else around you for that person, it makes you a crazy crazy person...lol..just my take on it, I'm sure it sounds weird...

EDIT: this is new love, old love is a very mild version of this, with boughs of new love in it

I was a late bloomer, and I realize after I have every thing I thought I missed then, that I was actually happy with who and where I was.

Yep, I was like you until 2 years ago age 24. Its funny because what I thought was my first love wasn't really love at all, so technically my current love is my first love :-D winning!

Love to me, is a choice. Its not perfect. You will go thru different stages. The key is both people wanting it, working at it. I'm not saying that love doesn't fade or die off but I think the reason it does is because somewhere along the line one or both give up. Love isnt just a feeling you get, its a choice.

Being gorgeous doesn't mean finding love comes easier. I'm only halfway decent and still find guys are intimidated by me....and I've never been in love, I'm not given the time of day.

Yes and I'm 31. I've been in the same boat as you (2 serious long term relationships), so don't feel bad. I've never been in love either.

I do realize that love has many faces and can't be defined by a simple answer. When I wrote about how movies portray it I meant infatuation, new love, passion. I know people that actually felt like that.. They couldn't sleep or eat etc.
For others it may be different.

Sure there are people that are happy in a relationship based on other things but love, but I'm a hopeless romantic. I couldn't do it.
And my two relationships was a complete nightmare and disaster so I don't think it's always a good thing to be in love with the idea of love.. The risk is that they'll try to change you and mold you to their needs..

Most women these days don't like to bonked over the head with a club and drug back to the cave. Just a thought.

Movies can make a person think love is suppose to be 'can't sleep, eat, etc.' In reality you will share you experience and places with the person you're with. Time will only tell if you fall in love, when you do it will grow over the course of your relationship.:flowerforyou:

Love is not all it's cracked up to be. Sometimes real love isn't enough to create a lasting relationship and the loss of a love like that can be crippling emotionally. Count yourself lucky.

Quit looking at movies and how they depict what love is. This is soooooo not true.

Love is something that can't be explained. If you can define it then it is not love! It is moreso a feeling that can't be put into words. But once it TRULY hits you, you'll know!
