Master Cleanse

I am just trying to get toxins out of my body, I am not looking for much change or for a permanent change.
I don't plan on doing this for a long period of time. 10 days is not long. No, my doctor has been very helpful through out my life and I think that it's a good idea to listen to his recommendations.
I appreciate everyone's concern but, I don't appreciate how some of you are coming across. I am a very friendly person willing to listen and hear people out but, I am just looking for support and motivation. Sorry if this comes across as rude.0 -

what toxins do you think you are getting rid of this way?0 -
The only thing you got out of your body lately is your beautiful baby.
You don't need to cleanse. You need to be alert at 3am in the morning if needed. I'd be angry, hungry and grumpy like that. Please rethink it. There are some awesome people who already posted up in here, listen to them. There is another way. .. really, I promise.0 -
I know a lot of people say cleanses are worthless, not worth your time, and/or just a fad, but it worked for me. I had been eating awfully for as long as I can remember, so when I decided to go on a diet, I didn't want to just jump into it. I figured a cleanse was my best bet to kick start a diet. And I was right! I took an all natural, vegetable based pill 4x a day for 10 days while eating healthy foods! I lost 9 lbs, 3.5 inches, and felt so light and rejuvenated! I'm so glad I did it regardless of what people say. Best of luck!0
-
Just out of curiosity...why is taking a vegetable based pill better than just eating vegetables?0

I know the OP is going to do this regardless, but to anyone who is lurking and thinking about doing this: Please don't. The people who do this put all the weight back on and more. They are the ones who are still overweight and complaining about how they've "tried everything". Go with patience, moderate diet, and exercise instead. It works, I promise. And you don't even have to send me any money.0

I didn't say anything about pills..........0

I know that you have committed yourself to this, but I just want to say please back out now. There are no "toxins" for your body to get rid of that is a myth. Your body works very efficiently and will do the job for you. the only outcome that could come from this is losing temporary water weight and eventually gaining even more weight. You are basically depriving your body of what it needs and getting nothing out of it.
Also, people aren't saying these things to be mean, they are saying them because it is true. You asked for support, and trust me we are all supporting you by telling you NOT to do it. If we didn't care we wouldn't be commenting and trying to steer you away. Not all doctors know what they are talking about. Do yourself a huge favor and DON"T DO IT for your own sake.0 -
You're going to starve yourself for 10 days to lose 4 pounds? There are better ways of doing this. Also, less nauseating ones as well.0
-
I wouldn't bother.
If you're looking to "cleanse" yourself:
Eat a balanced diet
Drink plenty of water
Exercise
Your body will take care of the rest.0 -
Detoxing is completely unnecessary. Read this:

And the Master Cleanse is a really bad one. This is a thread written by a girl who did it. I suggest you read it.

If you're going to eat chicken and vegetables that's not nearly as bad. Just make sure you eat enough calories. You have a baby. It's not a good idea for you to be weak, tired, and starving.
If your doctor really suggested that you do the master cleanse, not in a "oh if you're going to do it anyway at least eat some chicken and vegetables" way but in a "hey this is a great idea that you should try" kind of way, find a new doctor.0 -
how can I put this nicely....
In all seriousness, this is a TERRIBLE idea. You don't need to jump-start your weight loss (and this won't do it anyway), get rid of magical 'toxins' (which somehow are not taken care of by your functioning liver and kidneys) or give your digestion system a break (it digests, that is its sole job).. Just eat real food at a moderate deficit and exercise. Don't make this harder than it has to be.
This.
You have a new baby. Do him/her a favour and don't do this horrible, debunked, potentially damaging "clense" which is just a fad and does nothing your body already does for itself.
Doesn't this "cleanse" cause diarrhea? You don't want to have the trots while taking care of a baby!0 -
I did the master cleanse a few years ago, I lasted 3 days before I fainted. I wouldn't recommend it, especially if a little person is relying on you....0
-
I looked into this myself. They recommend just doing one day. They say that is all you really need. I remember one time when I was little putting a bunch of veggies in a blender and drinking it. Let's just say it was cleansing haha. Sorry for the graphics! :blushing:0

This, so much of this!
I'm glad someone posted this link.
The girl gave her experience from doing this & it wasn't good.
But you're not going to listen to anyone tell you not to do it, so I don't get why you bothered asking.0 -

if you can't take the heat...then don't post a thread asking for advice on a "cleanse" diet...its a bad idea period...
but if you want to drink goat piss mixed with cayenne for ten days, hey knock yourself out...but don't get mad at all of use for saying there are better ways to diet and exercise...I mean what do I know? I have only dropped forty pounds and 10% body fat over the years....0 -

I don't know why you think you'd find support concerning an at best useless and at worst damaging diet approach. We are not here to lie to you, nor are we here to ignore the dangers of what you're about to put yourself through.0 -
You say you are doing this cleanse to clear the toxins from your system; however that is what exercise does. Just exercise some more and make sure you shower right after you are done, for some of the toxins are released through your sweat. Plus drink water, LOTS of water which will flush your system. Please do not starve yourself with a cleanse.0

Just because a "Dr" mentioned it doesn't mean a thing, I doubt very much he/she himself has actually done it. There are good doctors and bad. You are getting a lot of good, sound advice from people who have actually tried it and from people who know better than to even go there. If you have the "I'm going to do it anyway attitude" I don't know why you posted in the first place.0

I'm still stuck on why a person would discontinue breast-feeding a two month old baby when there are so many benefits for both mom and infant. Add to that the fact that breast-feeding mothers return to their pre-pregnancy weight much faster.0
-
Breastfeeding was like a magic weight loss pill for me after having my kids (including a set of twins). Trust me when I say I wish I kept that weight off. Now I have 46 more lbs to lose before I get to my low adult weight which was when my first daughter was 7 months old.0
-
About two months ago I was about 235 and it was mainly because of poor eating habit and not wanting to exercise. I started out with the master cleanse the first time i tried to lose weight and it helped some what but after it just seemed like i went back to my old ways...All in all if you do decide to do it don't do it for a long period of time it's not good for your body. I lost my first 5lbs with the cleanse but eating right and working out helped me lose the other 30 and im still going! Good Luck!
This is the way to do it . Slow and steady.0 -
From experience, just make sure you ease out of it at the end over several days. As you reincorporate more proteins, make sure you are eating them in the same meal as raw fruits and veggies. Plain yogurt is also a great protein option coming off the cleanse as it has enough enzimes to basically digest its own proteins. Good luck! I'm super excited for you!0

I could be wrong, but if I am understanding correctly, she stopped because she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and had to go on a medication that is not safe to take while breastfeeding.
I, myself, stopped breastfeeding when my daughter was only 6 weeks old, but not by my own choice. I merely stopped producing milk for her, no matter how hard I tried to keep up my supply.
My point is that, yes, it is great to be able to lose weight by breastfeeding your children, and it is WONDERFUL to give your children that nutrition that only breastmilk can provide...however, some women don't have a choice in stopping. I know I didn't.0 -

Martial angel is right, I needed to stop because the medication that I am taking right now threw off my milk production and I couldn't continue due to risks that were in place.
I don't know who's place it is to judge my "decision" to stop breastfeeding.
Thank you MartialAngel for reading this and making sure that I saw!
Also, I am no longer participating in any cleanses and I am doing it the healthy way Thanks for all of your concerns everyone!0 -
I did the Master Cleanse for three days. You need to remember that if you do everything correctly, my three days were really 8 days as you need to prepare to go into it and slowly get out of it. I suggest shooting for a three day cleanse first. The only reason to do it is to cleanse your body - not to lose weight. I lost 6 lbs. with the cleanse but put it back on immediately after I was off of it. The best way to lose weight is to drink a gallon of water a day, eat 1,200 calories a day & exercise. Good luck!0

I am planning on starting the 10 day master cleanse on Friday. There are a lot of benefits from doing this diet and I am excited to get started. I am not only doing it for weight loss but, I am doing it more for detox. I have been eating badly for a week now and I feel so sick to my stomach. I believe that this will help me get rid of the toxins in my body and allow me to feel healthier and more energized. The diet consists of drinking as much as water as needed (filtered), at least 60 ounces of lemonade (with 1/10 tsp of cayenne pepper) and a laxative herbal tea to clean out your body.
I have talked to a few people who have had success on the diet and I know that it sounds like you aren't getting the nutrients that you need but, I will post the link that tells why you are getting the nutrients needed and energy to work out on the side. I will be doing 30 day shred every day (if everything goes as planned) and walking as much as possible but, until I am done with the diet, I am going to put all other exercises on hold.
I am wondering if anyone wants to be my master cleanse diet buddy? We can support each other and talk to one another through all of our ups and downs the next 10 days. I understand that a lot of people on this site are against any fasts or cleanses but, I am doing this to detox my body and to receive the best benefits possible.
Has anyone else completed this with any success? Did you work out? How did it go? How much weight did you lose?
I am starting the cleanse at 234 pounds and I am hoping to get to 230.0 pounds by the time the 10 days are up. I am also hoping to lose a total of 5 inches off of my entire body. Those are my short term 10 day goals.
Anyone who is wanting to be my mater cleanse diet with me can join me and message me daily or text me daily to keep each other accountable and talk to one another about our ups and downs (like I said earlier). Just let me know!
I tried the MC 3 years ago when I first decided to lose weight.
No matter the forum you're on you will find people who are for it and those that will basically insult your intelligence for even thinking about doing it.
Best thing to do is research it, Both the good reviews and the bad ones and if you feel it will help you then give it a shot.
Just remember the main thing for the MC is you are losing weight because of the non-stop peeing and the bowel movements,
Which are seriously No fun.
The salt water flush is the nastiest tasting ever, the tea they say to drink was just as bad. I couldn't do either of them.
The lemonade isn't actually to bad. But it gets really boring and you might have to shop around for a good organic Grade B maple syrup, because some brands just seem to make the lemonade taste gross.
I had no interest in doing it to "detox", I wanted a quick easy way to start losing weight so picked it.
I was never able to stick right to the MC plan and ended up drinking the lemonade but eating something at dinner.
I ended up losing 16 pounds which motivated me enough to get serious about losing weight, then switched to calorie counting and starting to exercise which lead to losing 60 pounds in total within 6 months which I kept off for a year before falling back to old bad habits and back to my starting weight.. (well actually ten pounds) and this site and restarting the losing weight goals again0
