Since I am an '80's kid, I prefer the older stuff. Def Leppard, Queensryche, ACDC, Ozzy, Metallica, Rush (though they are probably more progressive rock) . That's about as heavy as I can take it.

I love all of those bands with the exception of Rush. I don't like Geddy Lee's voice. But Neil Peart is an amazing drummer.

Watching Neil do a drum solo is probably a lot like watching a top surgeon during a procedure. Flawless.

from Zep to Slipknot... Love it all.
  • I studied music in high school, so I have an appreciation for all forms of music. However, I would definitely consider myself a metalhead. I'm obsessed with Into Eternity (hybrid prog/melo death metal band from Canada), but a few of my other favorites include Nightwish, Eluveitie, Kamelot, Arkona...I like a lot of folk metal in particular. I must say, though, I have been listening to a fair amount of black metal lately! Darkthrone and Watain are class.

I love metal! It calms me down when I can pop in my headphones, blast some metal, and listen to the intricate details in the melody

Yup. Two of my top 10 bands are Godflesh and Electric Wizard and I got to see them both live last year at the same festival.

    SO.GOOD.

Do you have a favorite band? I like listening to subtle intricacies, too. That's one thing that really gets me about certain metal bands and songs. You can listen to the same thing over and over and still hear something you didn't catch the last time.

Anyone watch Archer on FX?? Countless Rush references..my fav tho:

Pam: What's so important? You finally nailed YYZ?
Kreiger: It's YY-Zed! And no, Neil Peart stands alone.

Electric Wizard has some of the grooviest riffs! Gah, they're great...

How sexy is Otep, though!? My Confession is one of the most attractive songs, in my opinion.

    Yep...

Grew up with the hairbands, seeing Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Metallica, Crue and many others many times over!

Now I tend to follow bands like Atreyu, Bullet for My Valentine, FFDP, Killswitch Engage, Volbeat...

    Metal Rocks!

I do like older stuff...pantera, slayer, tool, rage - not so into the whine/screaming these days! Wish they'd just go cry to their mommies.

Have you checked out Killswitch's new album yet? I've only heard their latest single, but the reviews are great. As talented as Howard is, I'm excited that the band has brought Jesse back.
  • Big hair to thrash to death metal... I love it all...Motley Crue, The big 4,Megadeth, Mercyful Fate... I could go on for days. :drinker:
