    I put on weight because my meals were (unwittingly) in the 200-400kcal range. I would think I must have eaten enough, because my plate was full of food, so when I was hungry later I would refuse to believe it. I would resist for so long, and then binge on Ben and Jerry's when I couldn't cope any more.

    So, if any of my meals are around 300kcal, I add a 50g chaser of nuts.

    300 calories is neither filling nor a meal.

    300 calories is my average lunch amount. But i'm only 5ft so I don't need as many calories as other people.

    Here are my 2 go to lunches:

    2 slices of low fat honey wheat bread (80 cals)
    3oz of sliced avocado (170 cals)
    4 slices of tomato (20 cals)
    Flavor with lime juice and salt (5 cals)
    OR
    2 small tortillas (90 cals)
    3oz of grilled chicken (90 cals)
    1/4 cup shredded cheese (110 cals)
    sandwiched/heated on my george foreman grill.

    If you started eating more and fueling yourself while you exercised you would lose weight faster and maintain that weight loss for life. When you eat too little you lose weight, but it's 50/50 muscle and fat..... if you want to lose fat then eat more and workout.

    If you are tired of yo yo weight loss over years...... stop doing what you did before...it didn't work. Do something different ! :)

    Not everyone can eat 2000+ calories a day. It's great for you but at this point I don't have MORE time to devote to working out. I lift 3 times a week, walk to work/home and whenever I can. I maintain on @2000 thus to lose I eat 1800 /day. My GOAL is obviously different than yours and very likely this is the same with many of those replying in this thread. I eat about 6 times a day so obviously 750 cal meals do not work for me.

    I think it's funny that people say a 300 calorie meal doesn't exist, as most of my meals average around that. Then again, I have five meals a day at 250-400 calories each.

    Fish is perfect for when you are close to your limit and need dinner ;)

    I cook up Israeli couscous (the big pearls) with a couple of cups of frozen veggies. Then fry up a few fish fillets, flake it up then throw in my shrimp and the rest of the ingredients. Fry that for a bit in the pan, toss in a bit of oil and seasonings. You can have a big bowl for under 300 cals. I usually take leftovers for lunch - it's fantastic with sole!

    Also do Basa Florentine with spinach, carrots and onions.. Just wilt the spinach in a casserole dish, lay the fillets on top. top with carrots and onions that have been fried for a little while and some mozzarella cheese. Pop it in the oven for 20 minutes and serve. You can eat a LOT of that for very few calories.

    Tacos are also under 300 calories, can have 2 or 3 for that.. less meat, more veggies/salsa. We have them often and my family can make them as calorific as they like ;)

    Actually there aren't many meals I cook that are OVER 300 calories for a reasonable portion, and if they are it's because I use full calorie breads and homemade pasta noodles and such but if you change to lower calorie alternatives it would all be under... You can look in my diary if you wish, its open.

    I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks, usually all within the 300 calorie range. One of my favorites, a variation from a local cafe, around 250 calories:

    Special Turkey Sandwich
    * 100 calorie multigrain sandwich round
    * 1 T light or fat free mayo (or light creamy fruit flavored dressing)
    * 2 oz. sliced turkey
    * 1/3rd sliced medium apple
    * lettuce
    * sprouts
    * a sprinkle of dried cranberries

    This sandwich is INCREDIBLY tasty and very filling. Enjoy!
