I think I found the real culprit.

    gono-std.gif

Look at that map. It's obvious that people with STDs are sad because they can't bareback strangers as much anymore, so they appease their feelings by eating more food.

    OH MY GOD

    STDs cause pollution!!

It's because people with STDs have to drive to the doctor more frequently and all that driving creates pollution.

Also, it's quite possible that everyone who is fat IS fat because they have an STD. *looks in mirror* except me...

Concretegirl you deserve some kind of reward for how long you have managed to keep this going.

I mean, maybe you should have less fat in your diet if you live in a more polluted state, just because the pollution can already skew your body toward fat.

Again, there is no evidence to support this. NONE. At all. Not even a little.

Did you not see the map?

    It's on page one.

    First post of the thread.

    THANK YOU.

I can't believe so many people are jumping down my throat just for sharing some simple research.

I'm starting to think there are a lot of mean people here.
Wait, what? Your research was overlapping a map of pollution vs obesity, how does this equal pollution influences obesity? That's the research I want to see. A map of two independant studies doesn't mean that. Maybe I'm missing some concrete scientific research that was linked in that post, if so I apologize, otherwise your research is completely inconclusive, it's a hypothesis.

uh, obviously. I already proved that the real link is STDs

Thanks for defending me, WiseCat! :flowerforyou:

Other person, I don't know what you're trying to imply, but yes, I always put effort into my threads.

I don't want to be that OP who posts something and just disappears.

But I would like to add, that by looking at the graph, the SEC appears to be the most at fault for this disturbing obesity trend.

This actually doesn't surprise me one bit. If you look at the latest research the majority of people with STD's are also smokers. Smoking is a major cause of pollution.

'Cigarette smoking and other health risk behaviors are more prevalent among adolescents in an STD clinic than among adolescents in a community health center. STD clinics are potential sites for cigarette, alcohol, and drug use interventions among "hard to reach" adolescents.'

Excuse me if this sounds a little condescending, but that's what science is.

Proving something based on data that other people wouldn't necessarily put together.

I don't believe where a person lives makes them fat. I live in NC and have friends and relatives who are skinny, in shape, and overweight. I grew up eating such things as fried chicken, biscuits, gravy, etc. I could put the blame on my granny, mom, and aunts for all the good food they cooked, but as an adult it is up to me to lose this weight, I have no one or no place to blame but myself. I would not move away from NC just to lose weight. NC is my home from birth and will always be my home.

You mean we can't blame it on the BBQ?

It looks like it's Republicans that make you fat. Or are fat. Or something. It's probably because they go to church more and church ladies are always making delicious things with cool whip.

:) Why are you saying it like that, it's Cool Whip, Cool...W-H-I-P!...

People aren't mean, they just get frustrated at faulty logic and poor data analysis skills. Especially when the flaw in their logic gets pointed out repeatedly, and is repeatedly ignored.

Yep. But no one is going to listen to that here.

No, that is misuse of a federally regulated pharmaceutical

So you not only hate people with STDs, but monkeys too?

Excuse me, but I never said that I hate people with STDs. I just realize a logical link when I see one, ie STDs >>> pollution >>> obesity.

Also, I am all for protecting monkeys. the FDA should keep a better eye on Viagra distribution.

But this is straying from the actual topic, which is obesity/pollution link and now whether smoking and or STDs really play a role.
