Brunch would be a Red Baron Classic Crust Special Deluxe Pizza and a few Pepsi (About 2000 calories)

Dinner would be A rack of ribs, sides, and a few dark beers. (Around 2500 Calories)

Deserts would be a 1/2 tub of Breyer's Overload Waffle Cone Ice Cream (About 800 calories)

Not that I EVER ate like this. :D

    Science to the rescue

Wait. Does that say that a high FAT diet is associated with diabetes but a high SUGAR diet is generally negatively correlated? It doesn't suggest a causal relationship though - would people with diabetes eat a high fat diet to avoid sugar?

    Key word is: Why?

Sounds gross to me.....I just ate nearly 3000 calories but that's because I was on the Muir Snowfield for 5 hours using 3000 calories in 5 hours....and I ate healthy items....

Oh I would eat the hell out of 5000 calories (I just can't right now  ) but i'll type exactly what I would have and pretend like i'm going to have it.

Before breakfast - Venti iced white chocolate mocha with whip cream (640 calories)

Breakfast - Chicken fried steak and eggs with gravy with pancakes and syrup (2330 calories :noway: )

I would not have lunch

Dinner - Red Robin's Cheeseburger and fries (1085 calories)

Dessert - Chilii's white chocolate molten cake (1250 calories)

That's more than 5000 calories. Total is 5305 calories.

You know I think it is amusing to some extent that people flip out. While it is true that most of us are probably under 2k every day for our calories that is still the RDA base. Then look at commercials for breakfast products. The cereal bowl is at least 2 if not 3 servings, 1 cup of whole milk on that and you are easily over 500 calories but look next to that bowl, there is a pair of toast, each slice of bread could easily run you 120 to 140 calories, so 240 calories before butter, add 1.5 T and you add 180 calories on top of that. OH BUT way the Juice, OJ would run you 180 calories for the 12 oz size they typically show . Don't forget the cream in your coffee or the banana. 100 for the banana and lets say 25 for the coffee. 500+420+180+100 +25 = 1225 that is just breakfast.

I was at a sandwich shop the other day that sold a classic PB&J that totaled 860 calories. Add a bag of Doritos for 150 calories, a yogurt for 180 calories and don't forget your banana for 100. Oh and you need something to wash it down, lets have another OJ for 180. 860+150+180+100+180= 1470. NO I did not buy this, I left.

    Lets add a chewy granola bar and a quarter cup of almonds = 100 + 135 = 235 for a morning snack.

Lets move on to the afternoon snack that we have at schools so often, ICE CREAM! - 1 Ice cream sandwich 200 calories.

So far we are up to 3125, and we haven't even touched dinner yet. This all isn't even out of the realm for what a person would typically have without even thinking about it. A 1500 calorie dinner is easy, add in 400 for a desert and bingo you are over 5k. I am absolutely positive I have crested a 5k day without even thinking about it before I started tracking things.

By the way if you want to see a 1500 calorie dinner 2 servings of pasta, 3 servings of alfredo sauce, 2 dinner rolls with butter (go for the grands 350 before the butter), salad with ranch dressing topped with sunflower seeds and 4 servings of croutons (a serving of croutons is only about 3 croutons, again not what I am doing just illustrating) plus some craisins. Add a full calorie beer 16oz to wash it down and 2 servings of chicken to go in the pasta. Before you complain at beefing up servings, this is a typical plate for many people. So 360 for the pasta, ~360 for the alfredo, 350 for the bread, 180 for the butter, 180 for the dressing, probbly about 100 for the greens, 100 for the nuts and craisins, 190 for the beer, 200 for the chicken. That is 2020.

Nothing in this is outrageous. Even if you cut back the dinner by 25% you still end up at 1500. Have a piece of pie with some more ice cream and 400 is easy.

By the way I am doing 1600 per day approximately and have zero intention of doing a 5k day, but I can easily imagine one.

I agree if you ate fast foods, cheesecake, ice cream, drank a few liters of cola,5000 calories would be and is probably for many attainable. If you have ever seen a morbidly obese person on Dr. Oz,Oprah etc, they consume 10,000 per day. I am beginning to think the person who started this wanted to prank us and is loving all these responses. I have had fun today reading this thread!

This day alone is why they can't do a 5k cheat day. It's NOT a reffed people. Besides a refeed is not a 'just eat anything' it's got to be planned to basically be hi carb. You are all suggesting nothing but pure sugar, salt & fat.

If anything those suggesting that she go along with it & those suggesting the crap she eat are just as bad as the one thinking a cheat day is needed. There is no way on earth she has enough calorie credit to eat 5000cals in a day.

I'm wondering who are the real eating disorder ones here..... the OP or those who think it's more than ok to pump your body with 5k worth of fat, sugar & salt & then still be ok with it.

The fats, sugars and salt are really not that high on the day you show.

    Context is relevant.

I consider them to be very high. 111 g of sugar is a little over 50 teaspoons of sugar. If you don't "get" how this is bad, I suggest you put 50 teaspoons of sugar into a glass - actually count it out -- and come back and tell me that isn't alarming. And remember, that's 111 OVER the daily recommended amount. If the OP doesn't have it already, I bet she is pre-diabetic. Cravings for sugar and extreme thirst are symptoms.

Do you know where the RDA came from?

    Yep, the USDA.

If one day of eating 5000 calories alone undoes all of your hard work, then I can think of a few possible explanations:

    1. You don't understand the math involved.
    2. Your "hard work" wasn't really much actual work at all.
    3. [Dagnabbit...once again, I set out to make a list of at least three things and can only think of two.]

I think, for a 5000 calorie day, that was planned, or semi thought out,
I would take myself to Starbucks first and have a nice large latte or cappuccino, a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and a chocolate chunk cookie.
I would have a lunch of mushroom and cheese omelette, with chips(chunky fries).
For dinner, I would have a Pizza Express pizza, garlic bread and chocolate fudge cake with mascarpone cheese.
Then before bed, I would have a bag of Peanut M&Ms and a pint of Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough.
    Easily 5000.

Anyway, after looking at her diary I suggest she eats 10000 cals of meat. I think I saw one day that may have met my standards for minimum protein.

    Simple.

    Step 1: eat
Step 2: there is no step 2. Just eat.
    Step 3: see step 2

    Problem = solved.

Oh, yes. Most pro athletes consume upwards 5,000 a day. Michael Phelps is a great example-look into his diet. Seems shocking, but athletes NEED to eat like that. Other more energy (calories) you expel, the more you have to consume!
I used to be a world-class competition cheerleader. When competition was upon me, it wasn't unusual for me to eat 3,000-5,000 cals/day- and I was 5'6, 100lbs soaking wet.
Lifestyle matters! Everyone says "ewwww omg no" to 5k calories. That just means they've never been in a place where they needed to GAIN weight and that they've never been athletes (no offense intended).
