Ok I tried a refeed yesterday....my very 1st one after 18 months of great eating. I went over my cals by almost 2000....so that made ALMOST 5000 for yesterday. I still ate some good stuff but made sure it was high carb.

Today I feel like utter crap. I swelled up so bad my wedding rings are digging into me. I had leg cramps all night & sweated so much I was drenched. I have a massive headache that wont go & I feel like I would rather be dead.

I swear I was for a moment when I went for my 10km run earlier.

I'm scared to eat today at all. Really I am. I'm feeling worse than when I had food poisoning. I'd rather that.

SO I did it for a reason, to refeed my body & so then the next few days should result in some great loss...... but why on earth would anyone put themselves through this on a weekly basis I have no idea....or why they would at any time.

I struggled to eat that much, I had to start at 9am & then not stop till about 11pm. I really did have to try hard. I totally regret it & even feel guilty for doing it.

Why would anyone want to do that?

It's really not that hard and it sounds as if you did not do it right - you generally do not go over maintenance, and if you do, it should not be by that much. Not sure why you did a refeed though as your ticker says you are at goal. Also, refeeds do not work that way re 'great losses' - it is a way to keep your metabolism ticking along. The whoosh people often get is a water weight release.

Just because it says I'm at goal does not mean my body didnt need it. I eat way under my limit daily. I only ever eat 1500 at the most. I've never had a 'cheat' day in 18 months & figured this was better than that. I guess I was wrong. I actually wanted to see if I could get to 55kg & this would help. I'm stuck between 61 & 59.

So, you are not at goal? Anyhoo, as I say, if you ate 5,000 calories, you did it wrong.

I'd just suggest you eat at 500 calories above your maintenance calorie recommendation!

Head over to the nicest BBQ joint in town. All the food they give you has got to add up to at least 3k for one meal.

Absolutely cannot understand why anyone would want to do this. I'd be as sick as a dog and feel like crap afterward. Why? And deliberately at that? PLANNING to do something this detrimental???

You posted twice on this thread saying the same thing. Do you have a medical condition that makes you ill from eating?

Why? she is trying to gain weight. If you are asking why she is trying to gain weight it can be for many reasons, the same reasons you are trying to lose weight maybe.

Why is planning to gain weight detrimental but trying to lose is okay? I'm not following the logic.

Honestly it's so hard to pick. I'm trying to find foods that are worthy but then I realize I already do eat a lot of junk as is lol For example, I already had In N Out twice last month and several Mcdonalds so I'm not really craving those. But I have decided on

Whole medium pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut (1600 cals)
3 Krispy Kreme donuts (700 cals)
Bacon and egg sandwich (childhood fav from local place) (800 cals?)
Diddy Riese Ice Cream Sandwich (500 cals?)
Vietnamese Pork and Egg roll Noodles (1000 cals?)
    Boba/Bubble Milk Tea (400 cals?)

Tentative list. My bday is actually very early next month but I don't wanna pig out on my bday! Maybe a week after. Anyway I guesstimated on a lot of the items, do you think they're accurate?

So did you factor in the fat, salt & anything else bad I missed? some salt, some fat...but this is ALL fat. That alone is going to do damage..... not just to the outside (I hope you don't mind pimples) but also to other organs.

Actually past goal at 65kg. I can't stop losing it & want to see if I can get to 55kg. My GOAL was 65kg though...I got to that 7 months after starting.... the rest has just been coming off without choice.

One day? I highly doubt it. It is also not all fat - it is carbs, fat and protein.

I need ideas because I plan to have one [5000 calorie "cheat day"] soon.
Made me grin. Kind of like showing up at a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous and saying: "I plan to get plastered this weekend. What's a good brand of vodka?"

I wouldn't plan such a day. I can't imagine eating that many calories even when I was eating whatever I wanted to.
I am quite sure i would feel very ill having consumed that much.

5,000!!! I struggle to eat my TDEE - 20% and that's only 1,800. Why on earth so many?

Not ridiculous, she is eating 5000 calories a day. This is what would happen if the average person ate 5000 calories a day, and how to go about doing it.

Eating 5000 calories for a single day is not the same as doing so regularly.

I highly recommend throwing in some Talenti chocolate peanut butter cup in there somewhere. Sara got me hooked on that this weekend and I would probably eat a whole pint on a 5000 cal day and be in heaven!

And again, you're fabricating a scenario that just isn't true in the context of this discussion. 5000 once is not the same as 5000 every day.

I don't believe that your article pertains to the OP. I think that she is trying to gain weight. I could be wrong.

5,000 calories wow - I still feel bad for eating that big chunk of irish soda bread....That must have been over 1,000 on its own!

I feel bad that you ate soda bread...blech!

That's easy. I would eat one of the party sized bags (38 ounces) of Peanut Butter M&Ms. that's almost 9000 calories of goodness. It would likely kill me though as I've tried to avoid as much sugar as possible during these last 9 months that I've been working under the keto diet.

There's the difference. My comments in this thread are re the topic OP presented. The article you posted is (IMHO) irrelevant to the discussion.
