The info I received was given in comparison to men and women since I was married to a women who thought eating a giant dinner and skipping breakfast and dinner was good for her and how she keep gainning weight even thou she was exercising. So you should take your own advice since you have no medical expertese yourself. I never said I was a specialist. She should talk to her doctor and you should get clue.

So if you don't beleave what I was told then I that is your own oppion. I could wast my day going thru internet and books and back all the info that I was told about meals and diet from medical profesionals but I do have a life and if you don't like the info its your own choice. Those of you who have questioned the info I have given have not given any studies or info to counter anything that I have relayed.
Then maybe you'll understand why other people aren't "wast"ing their time taking your "oppions" seriously

I'm actually curious as to what they specialize in, hormonal balances, nutrition, women's health, men's health, diabetes, endocrinology, reproductive issues, denistry. Their specialty plays a role in their view because there are definitely medical issues that create dietary restrictions and scheduling.0 -

I'm not a big fan of breakfast either but I eat something small anyway, otherwise I binge and make not-so-healthy choices at lunch time.0

I'm a firm believer in listening to your body and doing what's right for YOU, because no two people are alike. If you can't stand food in the morning and don't feel like you need it, then don't.0 -
I HATE eating in the morning, I'm not even remotely hungry when I get up. Is eating breakfast completely necessary for successful weight loss? Because I'd rather save calories for lunch lol. Any tips or suggestions for easy breakfasts would be much appreciated!

I am not an advocate of skipping breakfast despite this post. I AM an advocate of the individual finding the right aspects of dieting that are clearly personal preference, and utilizing those aspects to create the best long-term adherence possible.
That said, there seems to be a lot of sillyness going on in here.
First of all, note the quoted part above. The OP is asking if breakfast is necessary for weight loss.
All of these claims about breakfast boosting your metabolism aren't backed by anything substantial. In fact, can ANYONE find me any set of studies that show greater expenditure given equal calories and macronutrients but with different partitioning? Go ahead, I'll wait.
There's a few different things to address here. One of them is the concept of food increasing your metabolism and the other thing to address would be the effects of short term fasting on metabolic rate.
As far as feeding frequency goes, any time you eat, you are expending calories through various digestive means. In other words, there's an energy cost associated with eating and this cost is based on the macronutrient composition of foods and total calories.

Now in closing there's something quite important to remember, and msf pointed some of this out already:
There is research that shows a correlation between weight gain and skipping breakfast but it's specifically because some people who skip breakfast will end up over-compensating so to speak, and eating too many calories for the day. But it's not the skipping breakfast that made them gain weight, it was the overeating of calories.
As msf pointed out in a previous reply, there's a pretty significant difference between a population that controls intake (we are tracking on MFP) and a population that eats ad-libitum. If you're tracking intake, and you can see that skipping breakfast causes you to over-eat, then you should eat breakfast.
However, if you're like the OP in this thread who clearly does not want to eat breakfast due to preferential/lifestyle reasons, then she can freely do so and monitor total daily intake. If she's not overeating for the day, her breakfast skipping behavior is perfectly fine.

The first quote you posted from my first post was on eating breakfast because your body was fasting while you where sleeping and that basically any changes in diet or not eating after a fast can affect your metabolic rate.
The second quote you posted from another post that I had posted was a study showing some importance on eating breakfast and snacks above and beyond just lunch and dinner loose more weight and keep it off0 -
Yes breakfast is very important. When you wake up your body is at a fasting glucose low. If you do not eat your blood sugar will fluctuate to a very low number and then jump up quickly once you do eat. Eventually your body may not be able to regulate the insulin properly. I never ate breakfast because I wasn't hungry. That and intentional fasting (starving myself to lose weight) has messed my insulin up so it isn't properly regulating itself. I am now type 2 diabetic and struggling to stay off medications. If you are not hungry I find that a piece of fruit or 1 Piece of toast is sufficient. The main goal is to keep your blood sugar regulated on an even keel so you don't. Have continuous spikes and then crash to a low number.
Oh yes once your body realizes it is starving it will struggle to hold onto every ounce of fat that it can making it harder to lose weight. It is best to spread your calories (ENERGY) evenly throughout the day.0 -
Okay. I'm sure it varies, but take it from someone who has struggled with weight for years. I rarely ate breakfast because I was never hungry in the morning. I changed my eating habits in January. I now try to eat 6 times a day and rarely miss breakfast. I even eat when I am not hungry. This keeps the metabolism burning and active. It keeps me from getting hungrier and I am never "starving" so smaller portions and healthier portions are working for me. I just hit my target weight today of 210 pounds. I haven't weighed this little since my football days in High School. I'm 55 years old, so it feels pretty good. Eating breakfast, even when I'm not hungry, works for me. I'm sticking to it. This weight loss has been VERY easy for me. 77 pounds in 7 months.0

I guess the biggest problem with some of these attacking posters is they have nothing better to do than to force there opinions on others and laugh and attack others who give there opinions and make spelling errors typing. I have not seen any set information that backs the backlash that I have received from the other posters that proves my opinion or info is wrong. I am not saying my information is wrong or correct but I do not understand why I am being attacked for not being as perfect and GOD like the other posters in this topic. I am sorry for posting. You all are right I am not worthy of a opinion or being human. I will go and Eat my breakfast and continue to loose weigh and gain lean muscle and be healthy. I don't care if you eat breakfast or not. I was only voicing what I was told.0
